Going Camping? Hunting, perhaps? Fishing? Golfing? Scheels motto is: Gear, Passion, Sports!! It is an astounding 295,000 square feet. Well you get the general idea. This is a sportsmans or womans paradise! You will find all sorts of sporting equipment as well as clothing. This is such an amazing store. Believe it or not I have come here for field trips. This store is an educators dream as you can shop and educate at the same time. Some history: Scheels began as a hardware and general mercantile store in 1902 from a German immigrant who used his first $300 dollars that he earned from his potato farm to open his first store. It is now employee-owned and operated. The store didnt see sporting goods until 1954. Between all the sporting equipment on the second floor are 14 animatronic U.S. Presidents that give their famous speeches. The amount of information from the Presidents alone is astounding. Not to mention the huge selection of taxidermy animals usually with information on the animal and genus. Tons of information here. Some of the coolest fish tanks full of fish. Your child getting bored with shoppin? Why not take them to the toy Shooting gallery. Reminds me of the shooting gallery at Disneyland in Frontier land. There is a mini bowling arcade type game too. Did I forget to mention that there is a Ferris Wheel? Yes! A Full size Ferris Wheel! Adults can have fun too at the golf driving simulator. Yes this all cost a small fee to participate in. Did I mention there is a home decorating area? What if I get hungry? Yep they have that covered too. I have heard that there is a cafe and that the fudge shop has over 30 varieties of fudge.

Dont buy a firearm at Scheels. Just experienced the worst firearm buying in a decade. I witnessed other firearm buyers with a handful of paper work, manuals etc, in their possession after their purchase, I asked the Customer Service Counter if I was going to receive similar material, was informed everything was in the box. I had already made the purchase and was being escorted to the stores exit, when I told the escort that I wanted to make sure everything was in the box before I left the store, it was a long drive for me to have to make a return trip. Thats right, upon inspection at the checkout counter area at the one of the stores entrance, no manuals, no trigger lock as stated was in the firearm box, nothing but packaging material. Had to make the return trek to the Firearms Customer Service Counter, the insides of the firearm box was scrutinized, all the cardboard padding was examined, yep, I was right, no manufacturers manual and no trigger lock. The lack of the paperwork and trigger lock was blamed on Mossberg, not the salesman, not the counter personal. My original concerns were just poo-pooed away. Horrible Customer Service.

Today made me a confirmed Cabelas customer. After four phone calls about a sale item from the current flyer and whether or not it would be restocked during the sale I was told I needed to go to the store so I did, found the person who does the ordering and was told "just a minute while I put these items in a case". Twenty minutes later I am out the door and they have lost a customer to Cabelas. The person I spoke to went to another customer and ignored me for 20 minutes. I have the distinct impression they do not give one damn about honoring any sales in the flyer..Could not help me over the phone and wasted my time when I went their in person. At Cabelas every employee wants to and CAN help you. Getting a rain check at Cabelas is as simple ask asking essentially ANY employee. To hell with Scheels even if their sale price beats Cabelas what good does it do if they dont have the sale items and do not care about getting them for an interested customer.

Scheels, I really love your store, but the only complaint I have is, you dont give the miitary any kind of break! I am a Wounded Warrior, 100% disabled from combat connected service and an Alumni in the WWP. I find it ironic that you sell Under Armour with the Wounded Warrior logo, but yet you will not give the military a discount??? I know you dont owe us anything, what we do, we do as a selfless act, so that our children and hopefully your children will not have to go, but your competition Cabels, at least acknowledges our sacrifice and offers us something to show their gratitude. I think I will be shopping there more often.

Scheels is the biggest sporting goods store in the Reno Valley. The store itself is a huge building, big enough for a full size ferris wheel In the center, a play place for children, virtual race track, virtual soccer game, and one of those classic shooting gallery with targets that move when a shooter gets a bullseye. Along with carrying the basics any sporting goods store has, they have so much more. This store has enough to offer you can spend the whole day with the family here. definitely recommend it to you and your friends. go check it out

After not one but two different trips to Scheels and a trip I sportsmans Warehouse my bow is finally set up correctly. I strong advise against going to Scheels for any! Not only did my peep they tied in come out, it was incorrect set up from the get go! From the draw length to the D loop everything had to be redone. What a waist of two trips to Reno! Scheels is a JOKE!

I went here to purchase my son a pair of shoes. The display shoe had a sign with a price of 24.99, however they rang up as 44.99. When we asked for the manager to override the price. When he can out he yelled at my wife then took off. Will not return. Ive cut up my Scheelds card. We went nextdoor to the Nike Outlet, and bought the same shoes for 24.99.

A very nice store with a wide selection of sporting goods, in fact it has just about the best selection of many different sporting good products from hunting & fishing to gym equipment, camping equipment, snow sports and many more... I found the kayak selection to be very good.... I wish there was more customer service in the fishing department.

This is my go-to sporting goods store in Reno. They have a great selection for all types of activities and sports. Thei have giant aquariums (one slat water, one fresh) with an amazing display of fish. The kids love looking at the fish. The also love the Ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Scheels is also very veteran friendly

I love this place. I was a little skeptical about buying my bike at a big store instead of my local bike shop, but the experience was great. I found a bike that i love at a great discount. I just brought my bike in for the 30 day tune up and it was also a great experience. It was free of charge and my bike rides like its new again.
