Bought my 109r from SSB last year. I made my choice to buy here based off their incredibly well made website detailing their commitment to excellence. My initial experience with the staff I dealt with was great. After some back and forth I made the decision to buy and of course overpaid for the bike because I thought I was getting a quality product. I was wrong. I was immediately pressured constantly to come pick up the bike. (I live 300 miles away) I rode the bike home. After about 100 miles I had oil spraying out of the air filter. A common problem on 109rs because a lot of mechanics overfill these bikes. Not a big deal. I call them and ask if theyll pay for my oil change. Nope. Ok than. A few weeks later Im riding with a fresh oil change and I lose power and smell burning metal. I take it to my mechanic and my whole clutch box is burnt to slag. (I havent done anything to this bike yet except change the oil) 1800$ fix. I call SSB and ask if they can help fix this. Nope. Ive had the bike a month at this point. I ask to speak to the owner and was told that he would say"no" so there was no point in asking. I said please have him call me anyways. He called we argued for a bit and he said no. Later he called me back and said he would discount the parts for me. So now its a 1500$ fix. I was grateful but still pissed that this 53 point inspection cost me plenty when I bought the bike, yet this bike still had a catastrophic failure a month into ownership. A month later Im happy again and riding (two wheel therapy does wonders). My bike is turning heads, its a beautiful bike. Im on my way home from a run and Im in a tight turn when the drive shaft snaps. I lose all power to the rear wheel and cant power out of the turn to keep the bike upright. A few days later I wake up in the hospital. I have broken my femur, tore all my quadricep muscles, and most of my tendons from the knee up. The bike fared far worse, its a total loss. I didnt even bother calling SSB this time. 9 months later I can get around fairly well with a cane. I will walk with a cane the rest of my life. People ask me all the time if Im done riding. Hell no Im not done riding! As soon as spring arrives Ill be shopping around for a new bike. It may have to be a smaller bike because my leg is gimpy, but you can be sure I will ride again. Heres the point, this was only one bike out of hundreds that SSB sells. However, this bike failed three times, two catastrophically, one almost deadly. A month warranty doesnt mean squat. Neither does the inspection. Buyer beware.

This is the first review Ive written after NOT BUYING a product from the company. First, a little background on me; Im over 70 years old, recently took up riding after 30 years of being bike free. I bought a 1500cc cruiser early this year, took a 2000 mile to the Black Hills and decided to upgrade to something bigger. Brian Cox (owner) worked with me initially determining trade in value of my bike, a few options regarding accessories and arrived at a fair price. At that time I decided to not completer the transaction. Two weeks later I returned and worked with Matt, and in fact purchased the motorcycle I had been looking at. He completed all the paperwork, walked me through the controls and accessories on the new bike, explained the 30 minute, 30 mile trial period and cut me loose on my "new" bike. I returned within that trial period underwhelmed with the performance of the machine fully expecting a hard sell, and all kinds of reasons why they could not honor their commitment. BOY was I mistaken. Their service manager rode the bike, agreed that it was not as expected and I was out of the deal. I judge a company by the manner in which they handle problems, not how they handle success. At no time was I pressured or made to feel responsible for the deal falling apart. SSB is one of the finest companies Ive had the GENUINE PLEASURE of working with. Ill make every effort to complete a trade with Matt and SSB, I dont think I could be treated as well by anyone else in the bike business

Bought a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa from Simply Street Bikes and was told bike was in mint condition. The bike looks great but has dents in gas tank with chipped paint, exaust has made contact with pavement and oil pan was stripped. I went to change the oil myself and realized the oil pan had been stripped and the last person to change oil put a helicoil in it because the oil plug would not tighten. SSB tried telling me that I probably over tightened it and that the metal rings I found were the threads from the oil pan. Ive worked on engines since I was a kid, been doing my own oil changes since I was 16. I never had a chance to get the bolt tight enough before it looped back around and got loose not to mention I used a torque wrench and have a 650 pg service manual that says what torque to tighten plug to (16.5 lbs) and I didnt get anywhere close to the recommended torque. Im not an idiot and I know the metal rings that came out of that oil pan were placed there by the last person to change the oil which was SSB. I still have the metal rings and a suzuki dealer looked at them and agreed SSB put them in to make the plug tighten. Its the principal that this place is not legitimate with the business they do. I make plenty of money to pay the 250 itll cost to buy the parts and replace it but the fact they refuse to admit it. Even if they admitted it and said they forgot to mention it Id of been like OK mistakes happen. When you do that then lie about doing it is what the main problem is.

From the time I walked in the door to the time I purchased a bike I was passed off to 3 different sales associates, making each visit substantially longer than required. Having read the Google reviews of this business I concur with most of the negatives. The only positive would be they successfully accepted my money. I bought a used bike, obviously there are risks involved for a company selling used bikes. I drove 30 miles to my house and had electrical issues. Went to their customer service, they were not willing to look at it unless I paid their warranty costs. I was definitely not given the treatment quoted below after riding the bike 1 time for roughly 30 minutes. “We offered to dig into the bike to help determine the problem and spent 2-3 hours of labor looking at it for free. We then offered to help him share the cost of the repairs, even though the bike was sold as-is and not covered under any warranty.” I feel that a company that is going to make between $4000-$5000 on a trade in and a purchase, they should have better business ethics when dealing with an upset customer. It is not their fault the bike was faulty, it’s how they dealt with the situation that has me telling every rider I know to stay away from that business. Staff Sergeant Baker
