English Gardens has a good selection but thats where its ends. I tried their DIY landscaping service. Basically you go in and fill out some paperwork, give them photos of your house with all the sites measured, tell them what kind of plants you like, etc. You purchase a $200 gift card and then they design your landscaping for you (within a week or so). It sounded great since I wanted to re-do most of my landscaping. Well, the process was horrible... I filled out all of my info, gave them very detailed explanations of everything, measured everything out, etc. I went to drop off the paperwork and none of the designers were available. They told me that Id be assigned someone and that person would call me. It was about a week later that I got a phone call from my designer, the voicemail said he needed to discuss a couple minor things and to call him back or come in. So I called back about 10 min. after the call and he was busy so I left a message to call me back. He never called me back again so I went into the store 2 days later and talked everything over with him in person. At that time he said it would be about a week and a half because they were very busy. Fast forward a month later, I never heard back and knew I had given him ample time. So I called into the store and was told that my designer no longer worked there (and no one let me know). I spoke with another manager and he told me that they would track down my paperwork and call me back after the holiday, at least by tuesday or wednesday (I called the thursday before memorial day weekend). It is now almost 2 weeks since that phone call and I still havent heard back. I told 4 of my other friends about the program (before this) and they were super interested, but now they wont be getting any of our business. Last note, their prices are very high. I would suggest getting plants at Lowes (not Home Depot) because they have a great selection. If you cant find what you need there go to Goldner Walsh in Pontiac, they are AWESOME and helped me a lot.

I recently got married, and went to English Gardens of Royal Oak to have them create our floral arrangements. I was not looking to spend a lot of money on flowers, yet I wanted to have something beautiful and elegant and was nervous about what my budget would get me. I was skeptical that English Gardens would be able to provide the elegance I wanted without spending too much, because typically they are a little pricey...However they not only delivered within budget, but exceeded my expectations. It helps to not be super particular about having specific flowers that cost an arm and a leg. I worked with florist Brittany, who completely understood what I was going for. She listened, and let me be picky where I needed to be, was patient, and an absolute pleasure to work with. I bought my own vases, votives, and hanging votives online for the same or less $$ it would have cost to rent them from English Gardens to help with the budget. I also bought some gold Ting from Michaels with a coupon, to help fill the arrangement and give it some of our wedding colors. Brittany created a mock-up for me to give me an idea of what to expect, however when I got to the wedding, it was so much more beautiful than the mock-up. We received so many compliments, and our photos look absolutely amazing. Thank you Brittany and the English Gardens Royal Oak crew for creating an exceptional experience.

Called yesterday, and it took being on hold three times for a total of 13 minutes for them to answer a question (about plant availability). Am currently on hold, and have been transferred three times. Each time Im transferred, Im put on hold until the call bounces back to their customer service line. I know this is a busy time of year, but either theyre incredibly short-staffed, or just dont put any priority on answering the phone. I dont have time to drive to this location to find out if they do or dont have one plant. Took me 19 minutes to get an answer

This is the first time buying mulch from EG. This is not the vendor they should buy from again. The mulch had stones in it, never saw that before! Had some pretty big pieces of wood too. Next year back to Scotts. How in the world did the stones get through the shredding machine with out tearing it up? I know it is sold by cubic feet so why would they put stones in it? Im going to take my bag of stones and pieces of wood back to see is they have had any complaints.

Yes, its pricey but so far, I havent been able to find another garden store that has such an extensive collection of indoor houseplants, right down to 2in pots for miniature gardens. They carry interesting varieties of plants and pottery, and other home garden decor, that you cant find at big box stores. For that reason, I prefer going here when I know I need to source decor for an event.

They are always ready to offer solutions for me. I needed 10 plants for one day...they rented them to me. I needed 3 bushes held until I returned from vacation (I didnt want to return to find them picked over)...they held them for me. It seems that every problem I encounter, they have a solution for. Customer service is number one here and they also give helpful suggestions.

Had a terrible customer service issue with the Royal Oak location, after spending thousands of dollars here over the past 3 years, they would not honor a $28 tree that died because I didnt have a receipt. The gal who helped me was unbelievably condescending. Sorry that it happened and am taking my business elsewhere as is all of my family (who have also been loyal customers)

Its an airy and interesting store with a great selection of plants, patio furniture, and outdoor landscaping items. The people are always friendly, and the plant doctors have always had good advice on what to do with any ailing house plants we may have.

Such s large place with so much variety and organization that was helpful. However, it was pricey with coupons they wouldnt honor. Also, it was difficult to find someone to ask questions
