I have been a frequent buyer at the Norton Shores location during the past four years. That however comes to an immediate end as of today. I recently placed some items on a lay away plan; which is generally a good program offered by the company. The sales person made a big deal about giving me and my shopping companion a 25% discount towards our purchases; which on the surface is generous. However, after I asked if there was going to be a bigger sale coming up, she said no and that it was a good idea to seal the deal right now. So I did, additionally my shopping companion purchased at that time a couch matching the previous one I had already purchased from this store. All was right with the world; wrong, I received an email from the store letting me know that there was indeed a 65% off sale two days later. I mentioned that difference in passing when I went back to the store and was informed in such a pleasant way that if i changed or added to my current order it would require rewriting the contract and I would lose the discount. I expected that. Additionally, the sales person didnt like the idea of doing that so advised against it. had I been given the option to do so I was willing to purchase more furniture at the new sale price to make up the difference gained by giving me the new sale price on the current contract. The impression from sale staff was that it is best to keep the old contract in place and write a new one at the new sale price for any extra pieces purchased. This is what convinced me that commission comes first before the wants of the customer. As a result of this interaction, I am now of the opinion that the sales persons on site will put their commission obviously before the customer. That is, as far as I am concerned, direct reflection on the management team and their collective concept of customer service, this is therefore unacceptable to me. I am so disappointed with this location that I do not care if I am given back the money already on account for this intended purchase or not; with or without the restocking fee. I just do not care. Neither I nor anyone else I am directly connected to will spend another cent here. We have decided that we would rather spend the time and money at the Grand Rapids location instead if at all. There are plenty of competitors for this company that I am certain would appreciate all future business from my family, friends and myself. So I strongly advise caution when entering into agreement with anyone at the Norton Shores location, you may be taken advantage of, as well, in the pursuit of a commission sale.

Bought a bed set and dining room table set with 8 chairs. Bed set came with no instructions on how to assemble and the end piece looked like they dropped while loading. Was smashed on the corner and the drawer was broken. It took 2 and a half months but finally got it replaced after calling several times and getting the run around. When we bought the table the salesman sold us the "full coverage" on the table and chairs. We bought it for the fact that if the kids spilled something on the chairs or scratched the table they would take care of it. Well not the case. When we needed it 2 weeks later the salesman no longer worked there and the manager told us they would do nothing. He apologized that his salesman told us wrong but refused to do anything. Wanted us to pay $60 just for someone to come look at it. Well what did I spend the $150 on the coverage for if it doesnt cover anything? Then told us he would mail us the kit to fix it and its now been 3 weeks and still not shipped. Every time we call we get someone else telling us something different. Please do not shop at this location, go somewhere else and get better quality and better service. This company is going under fast and will do anything to get a little extra money. Will never shop here again.

Art Van Dan the salesman and Art Van Dan the service man are genuinely great people! After the first purchase of our bedroom set sold by Dan Burns a couple years ago, we came back recently, specifically to do business with him again for our dining room table and a living room sectional. He is the best salesman Ive ever done business with in any field and makes us feel like weve gotten the best deal we couldve found anywhere in the state. He helps us find whats right for our family and lets us know when the time is right to make our purchases. Thanks Dan! Today, 4/9/16, we had the pleasure of meeting Dan from the service department who came out to fix some dings and pull staples out of our new table. He was extremely nice and considerate to our three kids and our young dog. He was extremely informative about our furniture and how to take care of it, and gave us helpful hints about our next purchases. He was fun to talk to and work with and did a great job while he was here. He was respectful of our home and our family and I appreciate him just as much as Dan Burns! Thanks guys! First off, the furniture is beautiful, I recommend going to any other art van because the staff, here is terrible. I have never given another review before but I was so upset with my experience that I had to write one. My friend is moving to another state and wanted to get a feel for what she is looking for. We were very polite and told the lady that was helping us that. She told us that there isnt an art van in any other state and we didnt know this and told her that we were just getting a feel for what she wanted or if it was worth shipping the items to another state. She then freaked out and we finally took the hint that we were no longer welcomed and she did not want us to buy anything from them. She then started giving us dirty looks and started being very immature. She then went to her other worker was telling her about us and then kept glaring at us. It was very unprofessional.

I purchased a fireplace entertainment center. Upon looking at the unit I specifically asked the sales lady if it came assembled. She said it would except for the fire box. They would wrap it and put it on my truck. I came to pick it up on Sunday and it was in a box not assembled. One trim piece was loose when I unpacked it and I had to use finish nails to reattach it. One screw would not thread in because there was no insert to thread into. I made it work. No wonder they didnt assemble as I was told they would. BE CAREFUL if they say it comes assembled. I should have canceled my order when I saw it in a box but I had individuals helping me at the time on their day off. 31383 Kelly was the sales person. Kent Eistedt

My Wife and I went in and took a "Sleep Test", and had two very different settings. We ended up choosing the firm mattress. Got it home and after one week we were both very uncomfortable. They have a 60 day sleep guarantee, that requires you to wait 30 days to switch out your mattress. We could not wait 30 days due to lack of sleep quality. Brett the Manager and Lawrence our sales person helped us find the right bed and they went the extra mile to expedite getting us the right mattress. Stores should be all about customer service, and this is a store that is. Thank you again Art Van Muskegon team. We will be back.
