I am a huge fan of Old Navy and shop there regularly. Two days before Christmas I bought a few things in this particular store. While I was making my purchase the girl behind the counter asked me if I would like a rewards card, to which I immediately responded positively since I do shop at Old Navy regularly. The girl asked for my social security number and date of birth, which I found strange for a reward card and commented on. The girl responded that it didnt matter what I gave it was just a fill in. I actually gave her incorrect information on both the SS number and the date of birth. I was tired, it was late at night and after a day of shopping I just wasnt alert enough to think too much of her requests. I signed the rewards form, handed the girl my ATM for the purchase and was on my way. Within a couple of weeks I received an Old Navy credit card complete with the inaccurate information Id provided as well as the charge for the items I had purchased for Christmas. This was very, very alarming to me since I hadnt applied for a credit card. I called the store and the manager assured me this was not a corporate push or deception. I had to call the company, cancel my card, tell them to take it off my credit report. I asked for the young ladies name who was either negligent or caving in to corporate pressure vis a vis her manager. The manager of the store never followed up with me, nor did anyone else from that particular store. When I called back for the follow up information I was told I needed the original receipt in order to track who the sales assoc. was, despite the fact that I had the time and date I was there. The managers were much more interested in protecting the assoc. than the public to her negligence, or deceptive practices. My advice to anyone shopping at this Old Navy is to be very careful at the register. This store must be under some corporate pressure to perform and they seem to be taking it out on the customers. Corporate has never called me back. No one has issued an apology or taken responsibility for this error. I had to do all the footwork in getting the account closed then checking my credit history to make sure it was gone. Very poor practices I want to alert others too.

Sick of being asked if I want a rewards card every time I go to this place! The card is nothing but crap and there are better places to buy your clothes than this!
