I had a horrible experience at the Rockville RnJ store this afternoon. My plan was to return a pair of sneakers which were purchased about a week ago. After the purchase, I brought them home and walked around with them in my house. It was suggested that I do such a thing. Feeling good with the shoes, I walked on the treadmill for a total of 10 minutes. Thats when everything went downhill. The sneaker hurt and I developed a blister on my baby toe, causing me to go back and return them. With my receipt and sneakers I went back to RnJ. I was told by the Assistant Manager, who I think is 18 years old, that they were used and could only offer store credit. Now mind you, everyone who tries on sneakers at this store, they run outside the store to feel the fit. So basically almost every pair of sneakers there are "used". I also told him that the sneaker caused a blister on my toe. He asked to see it! I removed my shoe to show it to him! I asked to speak to the manager. Upon waiting for about 10 minutes, he came out and voiced the same thing. I asked for the corporate number and was told that since this was a family owned business, there was no such number. I was told to speak to Ray, who was the manager that I spoke to at the store!! I did get a customer service number on line. i called the number and this was no help. Blake really didnt care about what had transpired. He said that he couldnt help me because the return was at the discretion of the manager of the store. So in other words, if you have a problem, no one at RnJ will listen or care. I thought Mom and Pop establishments were fuzzy and warm people, not so the case here. You are better off going to a big box store that will at least honor a refund if you are unsatisfied with the product

I had a very positive experience buying cross country spikes a couple from them a couple years ago when I was in high school. I went in there again last week to buy a pair of vibram five fingers because I knew theyd do a good job fitting me. The first pair I tried on fit so tight that they caused pain in all the tips of my toes. Then I tried on the next size up. All the other toes were looser and didnt hurt except for my big toe. I bought that pair and took them home thinking that the big toe would stretch and if it didnt Id be able to return them. Then I read the return policy on the receipt and freaked out. They try to prevent returns at all possible costs! After reading the receipt I went back to them the next day and tried to return the shoes. The smaller, brunette, female cashier got really snotty with me and then tried to convince me to look at some of their other shoes. I told her I didnt have the time and I just wanted my money back. She then took a good 10 minutes to give me a refund by talking to her co-workers, walking slowly, and talking to other customers. Needless to say I wont return here.

They have the best prices and services. Seriously no one discounts high end shoes and helps fit you for them like RnJ. It is a hidden gem tucked away on the second floor of an industry lot. But inside are a knowledgeable staff for true runners. To be clear when I say discount Im not talking about cheap shoes. I mean deep discounts on the highest caliber of running gear. It will make your feet happier when you get into a well fit high quality shoe at the same price you would for the low grade stuff you would find at a Kohls. But beyond even that is be on the look out for deep discounts in the 50% off room where you can find some gems, especially if you know when to go or have uncommon shoe size. So dont go in expecting to see a womens asics 2000 series in 8.5 or mens 10.5 unless you are really in the know. I would suggest following their Facebook and lists if you are in the area they will let you know when stuff goes on sale. Also if youre a Brooks shoe fan you should only buy from here. Seriously.

I was beyond IMPRESSED!!! Ive been to other running stores before... but this was a completely different experience. 1) John, the associate that helped me, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and was able to properly explain the mechanics, anatomy and science behind foot injuries and the differences between all the shoes. 2) He spent a good hour finding out what i was looking for, my exercise/running goals, how I jogged/walked, and then suggested the appropriate shoes...until I narrowed it down to two pairs with the differences between them. 3) Prices are SIGNIFICANTLY better than all stores and online. 4) no pressure at all to buy anything...and even suggested more cost efficient options, and shoes from the close-out session (50%) off. 5) Pretty good selection of womens and mens shoes.... as well as apparel, socks, other running accessories etc. So YES, definitely worth a trip.

Not so sure about the customer service here.... I came in right as someone was almost done with their transaction. No acknowledgement or anything. That employee disappeared and the other 2 were helping customers with shoes. They were really dedicated but seemed very unaware of their surroundings. I waited for about 10-15 minutes assuming someone would come out to help or at least someone would say, "Well be with you in a moment." I came in to buy some replacement grips and I could have literally walked out of the store without a single person batting an eye. This really turned me off as it was a complete 180 from my prior experience here.

EXCELLENT! Went in to the store after work to pick up a pair of Nike Free Run +2. There wasnt much of a wait to get help with sizing; but when the associate came out with the shoes, he was very knowledgeable about the shoe and how it works. The best part is the price for the shoes. I went to Sports Authority the other day and saw the same shoe but the price was $90. This is also the same for Footlocker, and any other retail store in the mall. RNJ Sports had the same shoe for only $71.99. You cant beat that. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for running shoes. They will have it for a price you cant beat!

I went in for a pair of running shoes last night after work. I had to wait a while to get help after signing in, but they were busy with other customers. When Aleenia (?) came and helped, she worked with me for about an hour, staying well past closing with no change in her helpfulness or cheery demeanor. She examined my gait, helped fit the shoes for length and width, and made sure I didnt waste my time on shoes that werent going to work for me or make me happy. I was quite impressed, and will continue to do my business with them.

Ive been happy each time Ive purchased running shoes at RnJ. The right running shoes are difficult for me to find because I have very wide feet, flat arches, and worn knees. Their staff is knowledgeable about how to address these issues and they carry high quality running shoes, so they are able to find shoes for me that reduce my arch and knee pain when I run. Prices are very fair. You guys get an A+ from me.
