Today, I visited the Rockville, MD store for the first time. I wanted to get my skates sharpened and left them at the counter w/ employee who said he would sharpen them right after another pair. I was going to buy some sticks, so I browsed. A few minutes later about 3-4 people walk in and wanted their skates sharped too. I noticed that their skates were being sharped before mine. Im patient, so I waited. About 45 mins later, when everyone leaves, the employee asks me, "how can I help you?" I asked about my skates that were sitting in the exact place I left them. He looked at them and said oh, Brian must have already sharpened them. I kept my eye on them the whole time and I swear to you that they never moved. They also have the same nick in them, so they definitely were not sharpened. I suggested that, but he insisted Brian sharpened them. I didnt push the issue with him b/c he may have become angry and messed my skates up, who knows. He had the nerve to charge me $6. I took my skates and left. I didnt buy the sticks. The worst part was the time lost, 2-3 hours of my day. This experience made me so upset and disappointed.

There are a couple of good places to buy hockey gear from in the local area. The difference with Total Hockey is the great people who work there. Everybody in the store plays hockey and they know their gear. If they dont have something in stock, they can get it in to their store in a day or two. Great people and great gear!

Tons of Capitals gear, $6 for a skate sharpening, fast, friendly, and really attentive and knowledgeable staff. No hard selling or being pushy, just want to set you up right and get you in the game. Selection is vast, includes roller hockey, collectibles, nets, practice gear, and goalie gear. Support your local hockey shop!

Solis store, not as nice as the one in Sterling but still organized and tidy. Staff was very helpful. As with most Total Hockey stores, there are few discounts. If you know your size, suggest buying online. Skate sharpening was done quickly and well.
