Good selection of guns: pistol, automatics, rifles, shotguns. New and Used. On 7/24/07 I drop in for kicks on a Friday afternoon wanting to pick up some fishing tackle, and price out a new gun. I have never been in this store before but it was on the way home from a friends house. My experience was terrible. I informed the owner that I wanted to check out the price of a gun, and gave a good description of the item I wanted :Remington 700 BDL, blued finish, walnut stock, left handed, chambered in 30-06. There were two off duty police officers in the shop. For some reason my request was funny to them, and as the person behind the counter looked up the item they repeated back the specifics of the request, giggling like school girls. I felt personally mocked. Even better, the owner got into the act too. He looked directly at me and asked if a Remminton 700 BDL was a bolt action rifle. I responded "If you dont know I shouldnt be shopping here" His response: "I cant know them all." The Remington 700 is the third-best selling rifle in U.S History, and has been made the same way since 1962. Its like a dairy farmer asking someone if Land O Lakes is a brand of butter. After finding out that my request was not in stock, I left the store. I was going to buy some fishing tackle or even ask if the owner could order the gun for me, but there was no way I was going to continue shopping there. If I was a first time gun shopper, I wouldnt go into another shop. Save your time, go to a better gun store, ANY OTHER gun store. This is the second review Ive ever written.

I have been there three times now. The first two times two older gentlemen have been there and they were helpful. Being an educated consumer I decided to research prices on the two guns I was looking at (a Smith and Wesson 22A and a Remington 597 rifle). So now armed with the street price of these two guns I went in and there was a younger guy (21-28 maybe) and he showed me they had the S&W for 274, but my research showed that I could easily get it for 234, plus a 31.00 FFL fee from another broker down the street from me. They wanted 50 for the FFL (a bit high for the area) and would not even try to meet me at $265 on the one they had which considering they paid way less than 265 for it that seemed fair. The young guy behind the counter when I asked if there was anything they could do said their price was close and when I said I could do better he told me he would not even look up the price of the rifle (I guess they know their prices are high) and said get it from somewhere else, pushing my papers right back at me with an attitude. I was a cash customer, but apparently they dont like cash. Looks like customer service is dead here (unless you talk to the older men which becuase of this guy they lost their chance.) Moral of the Story? HNP Muzzleloading (about a mile and a half away) and Mikes Custom Gun Service (about 2 miles away) are close competitors, looks like they will get my business and my future business for ammo.

Ive been there approximately 387 times and I cant say a bad thing about the place. I think the older man, I think his name was Bob, helped me to find the perfect gun to deal with the neighborhood rats. Now ya see, I couldnt use a weak gun for these motherfuckers. These rascals are not your average rats, these are the size of a small dog or a fat cat. Now that I think about it they look about the same size as my neighbors old cat. But regardless, the rifle I got from the famous Gun Shop turns these sons of bitches into a mist of juice and hair. If youre thinking about getting a firearm then this is the perfect place for you. If you need a security system then save your time and money and go down to the Gun Shop and check out their beauties. A big rifle is guaranteed to keep the undesirables and children off your lawn after only one evening of flaunting it in your front lawn in your bath robe. Nothing says stay off my property more than a winchester 7mm 180 grain round shoved into the chamber of a silver 7mm Remington mag. Overall, the shop is a damn good place and I will gladly continue to give them my money for their bullet launchers.

Im shocked to see any good reviews on this place. Ive been there a couple of times...even bought a gun...my first and only. I didnt know any better when I bought my first. The first salesperson was okay...every time after that I was greeted with the typical rude jackhole you find in most gun shops. Rude when call...rude when you walk in. Maybe rude isnt the word...think Fat Guy from Comic Book Shop in The Simpsons...just less witty. Screwed up my first gun purchase...no one had a clue where my gun was even though it arrived at the shop. Theres always a chuckling fool or two in the shop also. I know most gun shops owners are tools...excuse being they have to deal with blah blah blah...when Im spending hundreds of dollars on anything I want to be treated as a valued customer or at least with respect...you get neither here.

I have bought and sold firearms at The Gun Shop. In addition, I have used them for transferring firearms that I bought online. Their selection of firearms (pistols, shotguns, and rifles) both new and used is exceptional. Their selection of accessories (cases, magazines, speed loaders, holsters, parts kits, etc...) is great. I am looking to buy a new handgun this week and this will be my first stop. There are only 5 FFL gun shops that I choose to do business with in central Maryland (out of dozens of FFLs in the area) and The Gun Shop in Middle River/Essex is one of them. I cant speak highly enough about their selection of new and used firearms and accessories. I am a life-long shooting enthusiast, former Marine, and full-time firearms instructor.

I am really surprised to see negative reviews about this shop. I am also surprised to read that some people felt uncomfortable with Mr. Bob or believed him to be racist. As a black woman Ill say this- Mr. Bob made my first handgun purchase a breeze! He is very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms and was eager to answer questions throughout the purchase. Thanks to Mr. Bobs guidance, I am confident that I have the best pistol to fit my needs. I would highly recommend this shop and will likely go back for a second purchase.

Great place to shop! When i first went in i noticed they were pretty crowded which in my opinion is a good sign for a gun store, however i was immediately acknowledged and assisted. I had a lot of questions, all of which were answered well. The gentleman who helped me was older and very experienced with all the different firearms. I was just price shopping but ended up buying something from them. I plan to shop here for all my future gun and ammo purchases.

Very patient, there was an issue on the MSP end and Terry and the entire staff were patient and very informative. Not to mention to great prices. I bought a brand new Smith and Wesson 40ve which is identical to the Glock 19. As a 27yo African American male, most times when walking into a gun dealer you get awkward looks but not here, these guys treated me like a customer without me having to tell them I work in Law Enforcement. I plan to shop here again.
