"This store is not obsolete" After four years on the drawing board, and after much debate and controversy, a planned Walmart Supercenter in the Bel Air South community was officially scrapped in November of 2015. That store was to be a relocation and upgrade of this Walmart, which is a smaller "discount store", a step below Walmarts supercenters. It was rumored that Abingdon residents were jealous about the super Walmart up in Fallston when it opened in March 2011, and thats how the Bel Air South supercenter was conceived. Therefore, some of them were not happy when it was announced that this Walmart would remain an Abingdon-based discount store after all. On May 5, 2016 I decided to go here to see if it was really all that bad. The interior does look a little dated and no-frills. However, some interior features like the walls around the restrooms have gotten a facelift since the last time I was here around August 2010. Its got the Subway and nail salon and vision center like the super Walmarts do. They appear to have gradually added more food items since the closure of the Weis grocery store on the other side of Route 24 circa late 2010/early 2011. The selections dont look spectacular at first, but as you move around the store youll surely discover how much the store actually has to offer. And because of its status as a "discount store" as opposed to a "supercenter", a lot of the prices are lower than even super Walmarts. I got two diecast cars for $4.98 each; the same exact line of diecasts is about $6.99 each at the Target up in Bel Air, and probably the Target Greatland right across the street from this store as well. The departments are pretty clearly outlined and its really a lot less busy and less stressful than the Fallston supercenter, and I guess the supercenter up in Aberdeen too. So at least functionally, for a discount store, this is not "obsolete" and deserves to stay in Abingdon for many more years. Maybe if they just make a few more renovations their business will pick up a bit.

Its a Walmart. What can you say I make lots of money for themselves and their employees suffer. Otherwise its a good place to shop to get cheap stuff. If youre conscious about whether they are a good company to their employees then I would recommend shopping elsewhere but if you dont care that people are working 4 A pittance and not earning any benefits then go shop there and feel happy about it but if you care about that type of thing that dont shop there and go to a store that does offer their employees better benefits.

Walmart is my one stop necessities and groceries stop. They need to upgrade this location to a Superwalmart with more groceries. There are 6 isles on groceries but very selected few food items will be found here. Besides that, I like this location conveniently located off of 95 and rt. 24 in Abingdon for a quick stop. Cashiers are friendly most of the time. They do put a lot of stocking items in the middle of isles at busy times of the day instead of not so busy times.

There is only one employee in there that actually greets guests and is friendly and willing to assist you with your shopping needs. All the other employees are just rude and they ignore you. The shelves are never stocked and the aisles are always obstructed with boxes. The majority of the employees as well as the majority of the shoppers are just plain gross.

It was very clean, hard to find things due to employees lack of knowledge or placement in store. I actually had an employee recommend that I go to one of your competitors to make my purchases. It was extremely hot in this store. It was so bad people were walking thru store complaining to each about the heat.

While Walmart is the go to for low prices I would steer clear of this one. Fellow customers are rude, the employees look like they dont want to be there, and there isnt much variety. There is a nail salon which to me is weird but they do great work. Also its not very clean.

They definitely need to update this Walmart especially since its in a prime location. Every time I visit they never have everything I need that I have on my list. Some employees dont know answers to simple questions that should be known and taught during training.

There are three walmarts in this area and this one is the worst. Its pretty run down and the traffic is awful. Its really worth taking the extra time to go to either the fallston or Aberdeen location as they are much better in every way as far as walmarts go.

An older Walmart. Very small food/snack selection. Looks like the employees dont really care about the place. Everything looks grimy and maybe only saw one person trying to stock shelves while everyone else was standing and playing on their phones.

Worst Wal-Mart ever. Ghetto staff at the register along with this being the smallest and dirtiest Wal-Mart Ive ever visited. There is almost no grocery section and they are not open 24 hours. Your better off going to any other Wal-Mart in the area.

My major comment on this WalMart store is it needs to be updated. And, there are plans to do just that. WalMart listened to the community and decided to upgrade this store in Constant Friendship. Convenient location just off I95 and Rt 24

I like it later in the evening. During the day it is ridiculous. No offense but some cashiers are past their prime and work slower than molasses. Being a cashier needs to be steady and fast paced. The really bad part is no self check out.

Its a smaller walmart so its easier to get in and out they have pretty good clearance because they are smaller so they move inventory fast the lines arent usually too bad but like every place you get a few lazy slower employees!

Well run Walmart. You can generally get in, find what you need, and get out quickly. Parking near the garden area is often faster than hunting for a spot near the main entrance. Target is next door for another shopping option.

Has lots of great home items, and even better parts for repairs, but has poor food section. Employees for customer service in the aisles are not helpful. Actual customer service desk is amazing and has cheap money order fee.

One of the smaller Wal-Mart stores. If you are a crafter you will be disappointed but the rest of the store is decent, clean and friendly. I prefer the Aberdeen shop because it is easier to get in and out.

This Wal-Mart is not a supercenter. It does not carry more than very basic essentials. If you are looking for a supercenter or a place you can buy actual groceries, I would stay away from this Wal-Mart.

Traffic getting in and out of the shopping center is a nightmare during rush hour. Huge selection but I dont feel that the store was very tidy, and the staff seemed overwhelmed when I was there.

Never had a problem out of this Walmart location. Its not a super center but its pretty big. They do have some fruit thats sold there but its not a huge selection. Subway is also there.

If you want to know where they get those "people of Walmart" photos...this is the one to come to. A crowded mix of gangbangers and dropouts. Lock your car and dont make eye contact! ;)
