Its been about 6 years since Ive been in a Fresh Market with the last time being in Lafayette, La. This Baton Rouge location was nothing like the Lafayette store. The layout was terrible. Secondly I always used to get the raspberry pillow cookies and so I went straight for those..well the one pack they had out was expired yesterday so I asked for fresh ones.. hence The Fresh Market.. well no they didnt have any. In fact all of the cookies were nearly expired but my son begged for chocolate chips and I gave in. They bread selection was near empty. I got 1 honey crisp apple for $4.09.. yes I said 1 apple and its not even organic. I got half a bag of grapes for $7.41..yes half a bag. I also picked up a gallon of milk. When I went to check out I asked if they had ICE for me to ice my milk to make it back home (1 hour away) the guy said sure and rang me up a $2.49 bag of ICE. Maybe Im a bit spoiled by WHOLE FOODS..I made him take it off and I said no way. He then instructed me to the back seafood dept and told me to ask for ICE there. So after I checked out with a total of 6 items (no meat) for $41.00 I then walked to the back and waited 10 minutes for 1 of the 2 guys working to fetch me a bag of crushed ice half full. By that time I was done. He asked if that was enough.. it wasnt but I wasnt waiting 10 more minutes. The staff was rude, it was so dark in there I could barely read the labels on things. Pretty sure the scales were way off especially seeing the price of my 1 apple. NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT SHOP HERE! Whole Foods is a few miles away and Ive always shopped there and will continue. There is not one reason I would ever come here again.. not even for "fresh" pillow cookies.

This is a very nice upper scale food store. I wont say grocery store as the pricing makes actual shopping for groceries unaffordable here. That said, there is a nice selection of specialty items that make this a worthy stop. The freshly squeezed juices are superb and something is usually out for a sample. My favorite thing about this store is the meat. Its fresh and many items are anti biotic free. On Tuesdays the ground chuck and chicken breasts are $2.99 lb. I think the ground chuck here is the best in town. The butchers in the bank do a nice job of custom cutting if you need something special. The "ready to go" own area can be a worthy stop for lunch also. Salad bar is available but a little pricey as well. On some weekend days the rotisserie chicken can be on special.

My fiance and I love this place! We shop here all of the time for many reasons- 1) there is a wonderful wine selection, 2) there are lots of specialty foods that you cant find in other stores and 3) (most importantly!) the service is outstanding! The cashiers and employees all know us by name and are super friendly! They are never hesitant to help you, and they make the shopping experience so enjoyable! We truly appreciate the small town feel that this market brings to Baton Rouge! This unique market also has wonderful recipes on their website! They offer lots of helpful cooking tips, too!

I absolutely love this store. Great quality food and customer service. I stop here when I am visiting family in Baton Rouge to stock up on certain items that seem to be nonexistent in rural Mississippi. They have a relatively nice selection of craft beers and wine. I was able to snag a few bottles of exotic herbs and spices I would otherwise order from Amazon. After signing up for email alerts, I noticed they run pretty decent weekly AND daily specials but Ive never been in town to check it out for myself. Ill return with an update when I do --

In Baton Rouge, its Fresh Market or Whole Foods. Fresh Market consistently has excellent produce, lots of fresh meat and fish choices, and (unfortunately) terrific impulse purchases (candy, etc) by the checkout lanes. Their deli/fresh food counter is stocked with great choices. Its hard to walk past without picking up a few extra meals. Until Trader Joes comes to town - and even if they do finally show - Fresh Market is the market of choice!

Very friendly employees here. Love the meal deals and weekly specials. Also love that they have quality produce. The bulk goods have a lot of variety. They have some specialty items I havent been able to find locally like Graeters Ice Cream.

I am writing this review ONLY FOR SAKE OF COFFEE AND TEA! this is the only place in BR that you can find all good coffee brands at the same store. Also they have varieties of tea kinds. Enjoy your cup of c or t.

Prices are a little high but still reasonable. The fresh market brand products are actually very reasonable. Prices for milk and eggs are very low and complete with Walmart prices.
