MANY THANKS TO BERGERON PECANS WHO REPLACED THE TWO BAD BAGS OF PECANS THAT SOUTHSIDE REFUSED TO REPLACE OR REFUND MONEY EVEN WITH RECEIPT!! We bought 2 lbs of pecans that were almost 8$ a pound and came home to make pralines. The pecans were rank and not good. We brought the receipt and the pecans back and they refused to refund them because they were purchased more than 2 days ago. I stated that pecans should not go bad in two days and left mad. I should have taken them with me but was too mad. They tasted the pecans and said they were fine and I feel as customer I was treated rudely after waiting for at least 15 minutes. I waited they smelled them and went to the back came back tasted them went to back again, I guess to the manger who never came out to even consider what I was stating. And they told me they tasted them and they were fine. They were not fine they were last years pecans and would have ruined the candy. I cannot believe that a business would do this and not support the public. I will never buy a thing from this business again. Many thanks to Bergeron pecans who replaced the 2 bags of pecans that SOUTHSIDE PRODUCE REFUSE TO REPLACE. HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS SOUTHSIDE!!

Why is is they do not turn the AC on? Produce used to be better. Then they had the renovation plans. Produce got bad. Now that the new building has been open for business, unlike what they have been saying, AC is never felt in this place. Most of the greens looks old. We have bought potatoes several times, they have dark rings when we started peeling them. We went today, could not get potatoes, mexican zuccini, etc... You touch them they feel soft and not fresh, solid, and zuccini look spotty. They still have some good stuff but the store can stand improvement regarding the quality of its produce. Management needs to pay attention to our is getting its produce from. Things used to be better years ago!!!:)

They have done incredible upgrades to their buildings. We got pantry moths from there. I know this because theyre flying everywhere inside there and flew out of our bags when we got home. I had no idea where the pantry moth was and I promise you you dont want to either. I had an exterminator come out he wanted to set a bomb off in my house and charge me $300.00. I thought I could take care of him on my own but six months later I still see you on occasionally but I had to throw away $600 worth of food that they had contaminated. Before that they were definitely one of our favorite places now Not only would we not go we would not recommend anyone else go either.

Fresh and frozen, fruits and vegetables, Southside Produce continues to update. Cashiers have great training, friendly and count your change back to you (a skill lost to most cashiers). The also have some handmade crafts, honey, canned items, preserved fruits and veggies, dairy, rocking chair, seasonal plants and herb for planting, fresh herbs, nuts, chips and bread. If you are making something fresh do your major shopping for meats at one place and finish up here.

This is your neighborhood produce stand, but much better. The completion of their new building has been a tremendous improvement and allows for more product to be on the floor and a better environment to shop. Although Southside does not carry the organic produce like Whole Foods, The Fresh Market, and some other supermarkets it does offer some of the best fresh and local produce at an unbeatable price.

Amazing market. Produce is fresh and unbelievably priced. I slashed my weekly grocery bill by $20 or more just by getting my produce here instead. Dont miss out on the selection of local honey. In-season produce and local produce is available, but some fruits and veggies are still trucked in from Florida or California, so if youre dead-set on buying local, be sure to pay attention.

It was a nice produce place but I will not be returning. As soon as me and my husband walked in, the associates were signaled to watch us. I just happened to catch the guy signaling to us behind our back. Its a downer for me because I love to support the local farmers and love real fresh produce along with anything else interesting to try.

Fresh produce, great in season produce varieties, fresh frozen veggies/fruit, great prices, great hours, clean & attention to sanitation requirements. As a Dietitian I am glad I found a location to purchase affordable, nutritious, high quality produce. Seldom purchase them from a grocery store now!

We were shocked when we first found this place! They have incredible prices that no other store can beat, and it is an EXPERIENCE when you go! Feeling as though youre contributing to a community and economy of local farmers is a great feeling! Theres so much to choose from and we love it!

Excellent produce selection including substantial locally grown fruits and veggies. Great granola, breads, frozen foods (try the biscuits), and jams. Canned and bottled selection could be improved. Friendly and fast service. The new building is a great improvement.

Lots of great foods and options. The place is always very clean and the prices are good. typically when I go in I buy a box full of veggies and other things including local honey dressings and other things. Great place to get quality vegetables.

Direct from the farm produce! You dont get the variety of a grocery store, but what you do get is high quality produce at very low prices! Staff here is always courteous and helpful. Dont forget you can also pick up some plants from outside too!

Its one of the best open ground produce market I have seen , among many markets in U.S. You can get almost every kind of vegetables, egg, milk, cheese, bread, salsa, grains here. Mostly local louisiana products and prices are always low.

After recent upgrade of the store, it is a nice place to shop for fresh vegetables in baton rouge. Thighs are reasonably priced. For vegetarians, variety could be more, particularly those available in India that also grow here.

love shopping here for great deals on produce & flowers but for some odd reason the cashiers always have an attitude. they smile & laugh with each other then give you the silent treatment when you check-out.

Clean, comfortable outdoor produce stand. Insulated roof really helps keep it nice in there even when its hot out. Good selection, nice people, and lots of open registers makes it a great place to shop.

Southside market has fresh vegetables and fruits, and those are much cheaper than other grocery stores. I also get pickled beans and cucumbers here. They are spicy and taste great.

Love the new building, it is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The place is clean and easy to shop. Prices are generally good, selection could be better.
