Do not trust the service department at this business, any mechanic that cannot diagnose a faulty alternator is not a mechanic that I want to do business with. I bought my car at Andy Mohr GMC and after a couple months I began having issues with it starting up, the battery kept dying on me and was not charging properly. They had said that they replaced the battery so I knew that it probably was not the battery causing the issues, so I got on the internet and researched “how to test an alternator.” Most sites I were looking at were stating that “At idle, most charging systems will produce 13.8 to 14.3 volts with no lights or accessories on.” I went out and tested my alternator while the car was running and it was putting out around 12 volts, just barely keeping the car running. So I take it into Andy Mohr because I had bought a two year warranty that would cover the alternator, they say that they have to fully charge the battery to do their tests which takes a day, and then they come back stating that “the alternator is fine, it is putting out 20 amps.” None of the sites that I looked at made any mention of the amount of amps the alternator is putting out, every one stated that what mattered was the amount of volts it was putting out. Fast forward a week or so and I’m still having issues with the battery draining. I take it back into Andy Mohr GMC and they state that the battery is drained again (you don’t say, they didn’t fix anything the last time). Now they are doing tests to see if there is a parasitic drain which come back as no. All the while I am telling them that it’s not putting out enough volts. They eventually tell me that there is no issue with the car and that if I keep having issues to bring it back in. So after three days in the shop and time at work wasted trying to get the car fixed, they state that nothing is wrong with the car. I keep having issues with the battery draining so I eventually went and bought a new alternator. I installed it with my dad. Tested the new alternator with a multimeter and it was putting out over 14 volts. I have since not had any more issues with the battery draining. I would not trust a mechanic that can’t even diagnose a faulty alternator, when there are plenty of internet sites that state what I just stated. If you don’t believe me do the search yourself.

I came in for a scheduled oil change. This is only the second time I have been to the dealership for anything- the car has been serviced at the dealership in Ft Wayne where it was purchased. Now that I live down here, I was hoping to begin taking it to a dealership for routine service and establish a relationship in case anything happens. Previously, I worked with Bob- but couldnt remember his name when I called this time. I explained that I was unsure about what all needed done to prep my car for winter- as my dad has recently passed away and he is always the person who suggested everything related to the cars in the family. The person I dealt with assured me everything would be taken care of. Over three hours later, I asked about the status of my car. He tells me he will check- then informs me its at the quick lube. Im paged to go there- I dont even know where that is- and when I got out to my car- the doors were frozen shut as if it had been sitting there a while. No one went over anything with me- I was just paged out there to pay. I thought three hours for a scheduled oil change seemed excessive- but understand things come up. Now i feel as though Ive been totally brushed off and had been forgotten. I was pretty upset- as this was my dads car- and my dad was a car guy- took a lot of pride in the cars he drove and how he serviced and maintained them. I dont want anything to happen with the car in the cold temperatures- as I explained- Ive just recently had to have the car jumped - a first- by roadside assistance- and I had to replace the battery... I dont feel confident in the service or care I received at Andy Mohr- and while it is incredibly inconvenient- I may plan to have my car serviced at Kelley Automotive in Ft Wayne- where I feel valued and respected as a female car owner.

We went in with a pontiac needing a new Alternator and a tire rotation. The service staff told me it would no problem. and would get done right away. I ended up waiting 4 hours.... then they told me they were having problems finding the part. and i should go home and come back the next day. I had to call my wife to pick me up, and take off work the next day. I cam back in the morning expecting that since they had the car for 6 more hours that day it would be done. I waited another 4 hours before someone could tell me what was going on. They said they had finally gotten the parts in, put them on and I was good to go. On my way home I noticed a horrible vibration in front part of the car. I took it right back and asked what was going on. They put it right up on the lift and said they had put on " egg shaped tires". How do you not check the product you are about to put on ????? they didnt have any more tires in stock so I had to go home and they said they would "call me when they got in" I waited a week and no one called so I called them back and they had no idea what I was talking about. I drove back in and finally found the person who helped us before. He said he had the tires, tried to call but no one answered (VOICEMAIL ANYONE?????) but could help us, he also said he overcharged us for the alternator, but couldnt tell us how much yet until he ran the numbers. So that is where I am now, the car is still with them... supposedly getting tires today (supposed to be done 2 hours ago.... tried to call and they dont have the tires yet) and they said they have to talk to their other dealership on how much they can reimburse me for the alternator.... no help, unfriendly and does not understand what pain it is to bring a car in to be worked on.

There were several experiences about my visit that left me with a bad impression. First, and not a huge deal, was a commitment to get my vehicle done on a particular day if I dropped the vehicle off and left it overnight. I received a call mid afternoon to say that it would be another two days because the job was a big one and would take awhile, but the labor to complete was already known. I felt that the service representative was dishonest and trying to persuade additional work that was not necessary. I requested an alignment and he told me that it would be worthless unless I also had the shock absorbers replaced. The shocks do not affect wheel alignment on the rear of the 2011 Acadia. I mentioned this and he came up with an excuse to try and back out of his comment. He previously had quoted me a very high price to have this work done. I told him Id let him know after Id looked into it. In the mean time I researched the OEM part price, and what was required and found it to be a very simply job with inexpensive parts. I questioned his quote and he quickly commented that he misquoted the job (by over 30%). Had I not known what was involved it would have been a couple hundred dollars additional out of my pocket from what seems like a dishonest attempt. Any number of people would not have questioned this. All said and done, they performed the work that I requested but I am curious if a piece that they were to replace was actually replaced. I went to look at the receipt to check the part number and get an idea what it was that they said they were replacing to find that none of that portion of the job was included on the receipt. Overall I feel like they were tremendously dishonest and I do not intend to return.
