New tires were necessary, so I used Firestones online service to compare so-called appropriate tires based on my vehicle (specific to Make, Model, Year, and Submodel). I scheduled an appointment for 2 days later (at opening time) and specified exactly the tires I wanted from the choices offered, included a coupon from Firestones website, and specified "will wait for service". After an hour of waiting, I was informed the tires chosen from Firestones online match service were the incorrect size because I didnt consider the submodel of my car and the garage had assumed I should have known such information. Correct tire size is definitely a basic element which Firestones website should automatically take into account and which a professional garage should check before confirming an appointment. My vehicle is all standard, stock build/parts of a very common vehicle. Placing blame on the customer is very unprofessional, especially when I was told the situation (of choosing the incorrect tire size) occurs frequently. Then, perhaps, the garage should take some responsibility for doing pre-appointment double-check for compatibility. I was given one option for tires that fit my vehicle (of course, far more expensive) and the tires had to be transferred from another Firestone location. Once the tires had been replaced, I was told I should have an alignment (or supposedly void warranty on the new tires). I ended up having to wait on-site for 4.5 hours and pay over $200 more than my initial online quote. In the future, I will do my best to choose to have my car serviced at a location which takes a little more professional initiative in double-checking the details of basic service requests prior to appointments. We cant all be expected to have the knowledge of a professional car mechanic. A fact which the online tire-matching tool and the personnel at the repair garages should routinely take into account.

I really want to give 0 star if possible. A extreme bad experience! Upon requested by the person who want to buy my car, I had a car inspection there for $21.99. They reported that there is engine oil leak from a gasket. Are you kidding me? Dealer fixed my engine oil leak problem half a year ago by replacing a gasket. And I just had a thorough maintenance($1500) done at World Wide Auto(the most professional auto repair for international cars in Bloomington) last week. Are you telling me that you are more reliable than dealer+WWA? I then asked to talk to a technician to confirm which gasket it is. The cashier refused!!! She said dealer may use a different wording system; these two gaskets may be the same but can also be different. She told me to ask dealer are they the same or different. WTF?! If you dont tell me which it is, what is the meaning of doing an inspection? I read the inspection report again, then I found "preventive"!!! It means this problem isnt there, Firestone think it will be problematic. The cashier repeated 21.99 impatiently. I said give me a minute and let me discuss with my potential buyer who is going to pay for the inspection fee. The cashier took way the key in front of me very rudely and showed me an unhappy face. She also printed out an estimation and told me that they can have the gasket replaced for $300. Then I said I want to talk to dealer first and rejected her. Unhappy face again!!!! Hey, I have the freedom not to waste my money okay? Think about why an auto repair located at college mall can offer an inspection in 21.99 such a low price! Inspection in other places usually costs $90. They want to attract people and earn money from "preventive" repair!!!

Firestones in general are the absolute worst rip off crap hole auto service centers ever. Even worse than Pep Boys (didnt think that was even possible.) I got ripped off big time by them in California, but I wont go into that here since this is about the Bloomington one. My girlfriend goes here for oil changes, I have no idea why, they take forever. Six months ago she got a qoute from these morons for rear brakes. They quoted her $500. Ridiculous! I made her call a couple other places and we got it done for half that. Seriously. She went there today for tires (even though I begged her to go to Tiemans). Instead of changing the three tires on the car, and the flat one in the trunk. When she got the car back she realized that they had put a new tire on the spare instead of the flat one in the trunk, even though she told them it was a spare, and even though it was the only one that LOOKED LIKE THE SPARE (no hubcap, etc.) So she told them and they put some old tire on the spare hub, probably not the one that was on there which was in excellent shape (another hint that it was the spare). They also charged her $50 for labor!!! WHAT?!?!!! I just got new tires a couple weeks ago, and (what a surprise) they didnt charge me for labor. Asa a matter of fact, Ive been driving for 21 years and have never been charged for labor when I bought new tires. These guys are the absolute worst!!!! Please, please, please, dont give them your business!!!!!!!

STAY FAR AWAY from this place if you care about your car. Came in for a check of belt noise and to see if my coolant mixture was correct for winter. Sat in the waiting room for six and a half hours. Said they didnt hear any belt noise, even after I told them how to find it. Went right out to my car, turned on the heat, and it screached like usual. The guy just looked at me with a blank stupid look on his face. I said what about the anti-freeze, and he hesitated, said "uhh, yea they said it looked ok" Three days later the temp dropped to zero and my system froze up and blew out my water pump. Went to another shop and they tested the coolant and it was +14 degrees. It should be -30 !! Most likely this place has a date in small claims court coming up, for the cost of my water pump. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Steer clear, there are many other places to go.

I made an appointment at 7:03am for noon, I told them I needed a tire cause my front drivers side tire blew, and an oil change. At ~11am I had to call and just change it too a new tires cause my doughnut didnt seem to hold enough air. We get there, they still had the oil change on there, but took it off and charged me for the tire, got my number and said theyd call when it is ready. An hour and a half later we went inside and asked about an ETA. Not only was the guy RUDE, but they hadnt even started on my tire. It is now 2:54pm and Im STILL waiting. Wouldnt recommend this place. I wouldnt even give them a whole star, but it is the lowest I could give. And now as we talk to the manager he just gave excuses, and said we cant just flip them in and out....

I have had bad experience with Firestone especially the one at College Mall Road. Generally, they will always overprice. So, never ever believe them when they recommend you to replace a lot of parts. They will exaggerate and being dishonest. “Fix it right at the first time” will never happen at this shop, there will always be unsettled issues after your visit. Finally, they will just ask you to go back to the dealer and it became none of their business anymore. So, my advice to everybody is: Get multiple estimates and ask if this absolutely needs to be replaced. Compare quotations from many mechanics/shops. You will see Firestone will always quote higher. So, just avoid Firestone unless you have no other choices.
