Terrible prices. Awful customer service. I needed to swap out a deadbolt. When I bought the original deadbolt, I asked the cashier if I could bring it right back if it didnt fit. She told me thats fine, but to try to keep the packaging in order. So I took very good care of the package while unboxing it. I found the deadbolt wasnt the right type (needed a very specific type) and brought it back less than an hour after I bought it with everything seated as it was when I bought it. The manager handling my return grinned when he realized I forgot the tiny 1 page instruction manual and said he wouldnt issue me a refund because the product needed to be in "sellable condition". Ill be on my way back to the store for a third time today and cant guarantee they wont find something else to nitpick. I support local businesses and dont want to see them die, but this kind of behavior is a quick way to get replaced by Amazon. Just this week, I returned a very expensive computer monitor to Amazon without the cables, the box, or the manual and got all of my money back before I even shipped the thing. Save your time and money and if you cant wait for something to come on Amazon, shop anywhere else in town.

I used to be a great fan of Bloomington Hardware and shopped there once or twice a week. I was happy to pay slightly higher prices at a place I took to be an important community resource. No more! No longer do they have customer friendly policies: Couldnt make a return without a receipt even when I had the credit card on which the recent purchase was made. Couldnt persuade them to shake an old can of paint that I needed to match a wall painted years ago. Didnt find a good selection of different sized washers. It is easy to get help with purchases, but that is true at Lowes too, and they have friendly specialists available as well as having customer friendly policies in place. So though it may mean a longer ride, I suggest you avoid Bloomington Hardware.

I, am a handy around the house lady, that likes to support local businesses, whenever possible. I live within minutes of Bloomington Hardware, but will not shop there anymore simply because of the poor customer service I receive from the floor sales staff ( specifically the guys who have been there for a long time). They are not pleasant to deal with and I would rather not. I think its poor business sense to keep uncaring unfriendly personnal on the floor when there are three big box stores in town that are cheaper and quite frankly nicer to deal with.

I have had great experiences at Bloomington Hardware. I had a leaky faucet and took it apart to look for new washers. I went to Lowes thinking they would have a larger selection, and after looking all around and waiting to find an employee, he took a quick look at my part, and told me they dont sell that model. I took the parts to Bloomington Hardware, and the owner greeted me as soon as I came in, found the replacement parts in less than a minute and had me on my way with a guarantee. And it worked great!

Love going to Bloomington Hardware True Values small town atmosphere but great selection of merchandise with friendly super knowledgeable staff. Stuff can be a bit more expensive than in alienating big box stores but staff will solve so many of your problems + you get a free tutorial anytime you have a question that shopping there is a real deal. Cant imagine life without the support and help I get there. Been shopping there for 37 years, and get the same lovely experience each time.

I was initially a little shocked at the past negative reviews. At the same time, this is the only hardware store on the east side / Kroger area and I do not like having to travel across town to go shop at Kleindorfers even if it is my favorite. I actually have good experiences here at Bloomington Hardware. The staff are usually friendly and while the store is indeed small, it has mostly something from every category.

I dont know about the negative reviews others wrote about this place, but the time I spent there was outstanding! ! The staff was very customer service friendly and helpful. I told them what I was looking for and they knew exactly where it was. They helped me until I had what I wanted, paid for it and out the door. Highly recommend this place for novice do it yourselfers!

The staff here is excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable & helpful - especially for those of us who are not handy around the house. I find the prices a little higher than other places, but I think its well worth it not to get lost, ignored, & completely frustrated in a large store. Its the only hardware store on the east side of town, & I hope it stays that way.
