Decided to try this store out as local option for my handgun needs. I normally travel to Indy for everything I need, so I thought this might be a good option. I went in to look for a new handgun and was looking to trade in an almost new XDm. First of all, the store is a mess. There are random things everywhere. Second, I arrived before someone else who seemed to be a "regular", and that customer received attention before me. Third, they only had like 5 handguns there to potentially purchase. Fourth, he offered me 40% of my handguns value, which is unacceptable in my opinion. In summary, I will be going back to Indy. **Response to Owner** I never actually said a price, but I was just looking to trade into a more concealable model. No worries tho, I was able to go to Indy and trade straight up for an XD Mod.2 Also, it is responses like the one below that will definitely make me never step foot in your shop again. I would travel to Missouri if it meant not having to put up with attitude like that. If you cannot take criticism for your services, the internet is not a good place for you. Best of luck to you.

American Arms Training Academy

American Arms is here for public service in to help protect the community local and surrounding areas. In business for over five years with the recent name change American Arms as a place for you to get just about any firearm ammunition or accessory you need. We also have a new Charity " American Arms Around Heroes" This charity is help those who have helped our community and our country. It is our time to help them when they need it most. It is for Veterans and First Res-ponders and as of right now we are trying to keep it to our local community and work our out from there. At least 10% of all American Arms Apparel will be going to this Charity as well. So if your buying shirt you know a portion of it is also going to a great cause.

Matt the owner is a really great guy, and the other employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The selection is not amazing but it is improving. Most of their stuff is handguns with some tactical carbines and a few used shotguns or surplus rifles but not a huge amount of long guns. With the auctions you can score a real deal or see something you dont see every day and occasionally you see some rare or interesting stuff come up for sale like a Spanish Ruby pistol. Ammo is a bit pricey, but every gunstore is like that so Im not going to hold it against them. Very reasonable prices on accessories and firearms repair/custom work and overall a great atmosphere.

The owner of this shop is a retired Marine, but he treats people like your favorite history teacher did back in grade school. Very informative, instructs without coming off as a prick. Helped me with a crappy AK-47 that got dumped on me in a bad trade and gave me the knowledge to get it sold. Further helped me with a "thumbs forward" grip style on my 1911 that had never been taught to me before (Had been shooting it like my old M9). As an Army vet, I give this Marine two hooahs up, and Im not even going to act like Im ashamed of saying it. Good on you brother, hope to see you soon for that cerakote job.

I am a relatively new gun owner and customer of this shop. However, I will never go elsewhere for my firearm needs from now on. Matt is honest, knowledgeable, and patient. His prices are fair and he really cares about his customers. His vast experience makes me very comfortable in trusting his judgement. I just took an NRA Basic Pistol Course from him and plan to continue my training with him as his skill and dedication to safety is unmatched. I highly recommend HPSS!

Ive been doing business with these guys for years. Hands down the easiest and most understanding business Ive dealt with in the last 10 years. These guys are honest and hardworking for your approval and satisfaction. When Im asked about Bloomington HPSS, I tell em to go see for themselves! I actually found HPSS cause I ordered a gun online and needed an FFL to receive. That was almost 3 years ago. Was only 21 at the time and not very familiar with handguns. Matt was very helpful and patient. Been there several times since then. Havent been to the new location yet, but will be in the next 2 weeks for sure. I had no idea they were Blue Label Dealer so will probably be seeing a lot more of me haha.

HPSS is the most outstanding gun shop I have ever been to. The shop owner, Matt Barthold does all of the work on my firearms. His shop can order any item you could ever want including but not limited to firearms, accessories, suppressors, and other NFA items. They are polite, professional, and have the most competitive prices in the area. I would highly recommend paying them a visit.

Marshall Security

The only complaint I have with this Company is its hard to get your turn to talk to Matt. He spends at least 20 min with every customer that comes in the door and treats them like family. I have bought several guns for my Security Company from Matt and got uniform supplies from him also. Matt treats you like family and takes the time make sure your getting the right products.

These guys are the real deal, the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, and the prices are very competitive. Make sure to go to the new location, at 4545 W. SR 45, as google maps hasnt updated the address and place marker for some reason. Overall I am very satisfied, and I will certainly be recommending Bloomington HPSS.

The Right Tool Company

I had a .22 Marlin that is my prize gun. I took it to a gun smith in a different town. The gun came back worse than when I took it in. I went to American arms they not only repaired the first problem but corrected the damage done by the first gun smith. They are great people. They will treat you fair and honest.
