The owners are wonderful and helpful people who do stand by the quality of the merchandise and this was my favorite store from its inception until perhaps this last year. What I loved about this store was its incredibly affordable and quality second hand merchandise and very personable experience with the owners and few employees. However, in the past year Ive seen the prices completely gouged since people from wealthier neighbors have caught on and are willing to pay $5 for a used cotton scarf or $40 for a used corningware dish. I remember purchasing almost an entire new wardrobe for $40 a few years back from there. Its a beautiful spot and the workers are wonderful but unfortunately I can no longer afford to patronize here as I can find the same items at goodwill for what thrift n thrive used to sell it for. Id much rather shop small but I come from extremely limited means, Ill miss this cute shop but its just not in the budget and I can find most things sold there new at an affordable price. This was once a nice oasis from all those pricy 2nd hand stores in Logan Square, Wicker Park, and Lincoln Park but not any longer. Will still try to stop in Perkolator and Sputnik from time to time but will have to keep an eye on rising prices there as well.

Dont be fooled by the inconspicuous front room of this thrift shop. It may seem like all hand me down outfits, but once you discover the downstairs its a whole different ball park. There is lots of great furniture, tables, kitchen utensils, and other odds and ends that are REALLY well priced and in great condition. Im still kicking myself for leaving behind a vintage childs mobile and an old trunk with great travel stickers that was only $20! The man at the front counter was also very helpful and upfront about the objects for sale. A little bit of a trek from Logan Square, but I found such great stuff for my new apartment, it was definitely worth the trip.

Thrift & Thrive is a family owned business which helps the community through re-using/recycling and their motto is "choose used first". I love that a family owns and runs two upbeat thriving businesses in Portage Park. Donate or shop here and have a great cup of coffee or cappuccino drink and some good food at Perkolator across the street. Also, anything that they dont want to sell at the shop is donated to a charity. At Perkolator, you will also find a large selection of vinyl record albums in the area adjacent to the coffee shop. If you want to improve the local economy, schools, and infrastructure, keep your business local.

The people that run this store are magic. The things they have done for our community with their different businesses, the new life they have breathed into the area- just outstanding. I support everything they do and am honored to be able to patronize their places. Each one is set up, run, and decorated with love and a desire to bring good things to the neighborhood for people to enjoy. Thrift & Thrive does just that, with a huge and reasonably-priced selection and a smiling staff that will go out of the way to make sure your experience is great and your merchandise is in good shape before you take it home.

Do not patronize this scam of an establishment. How they maintain their license is a mystery. Call the Aldermans office to review complaints made. Recently a neighborhood woman returned from surgery they delivered a broken chair which she fell from causing additional injury. When contacted to add insult to injury they laughed and refused to pickup the garbage they delivered and left unassembled. Anyone can refer a qualified attorney on this matter. Please post. and please repost this to social media..

When you walk in it seems like a small-medium size secondhand clothing store, which is great, but there is a downstairs with antiques and secondhand nicnacs. They get new donations/products in all the time and the staff was also very helpful and knowledgeable.

I love thrift & thrive. So many treasures to find! I would say we have most of our furniture from there. Beautiful items, great prices. Certainly one of the best thrift shops in the city!
