Chiarugi Hardware recently moved from across Taylor Street to the new location at 1412. Paul (the owner) and his wife have established a friendly neighborhood shop and they bend over backwards to give great customer service. There is one of the huge, impersonal big box hardware stores about a mile away but I make sure to go to Chiarugi for any hardware needs they can handle. Even if you are just visting Taylor Street, stop in and say hello to Paul. You will be charmed! AND, they are dog-friendly!

This old time hardware store is a gem. Its owner operated. Dont want to have to buy 500 screws at the Home Despot when you only need a few? Go see Paul Chiarugi. You will walk out with a bill under a buck. He cuts keys that always work, He cuts glass and screen, sells paint and brushes. He even sells wine making equipment and makes his own vino. He knows his stuff and is always happy to answer questions about your projects. They also sell Italian pride gear and Taylor Street T-shirts.

I was in need of just a nut and bolt and the owner was kind enough to give me the 50¢ in parts for free. I didnt have the cash on me. I will be back here. Not a huge selection, but certainly enough to get quick fixes done around your apartment. Places like this dont exist much anymore. A+

Great neighborhood place. The kind of place you dont mind going a bit out of your way to support. The owner is extremely pleasant, knowledgable, and eager to help. I needed something he didnt carry and he gladly referred me to another area business that did.
