Visited here in April 2014. This place seems really popular, so I am trying to be fair. The biggest problem is the staff... they are really inexperienced. FYI, I did leave a 20% tip because I think that their problem are due to poor management. First, I asked the guy at the gift shop if they sell newspapers. He had no idea, so I bought one from the machine outside. Second, I waited for about 5 minutes for a hostess. She was friendly, but she tried to seat me at the table right next to the kitchen door... but after my hesitation she was kind enough to offer me an unclean table on the other side of the room. She tried to clean the table with a dirty dish rag but lots of disgusting food particles were left behind (I still cringe thinking about it). 3rd, the waitress, came by my table 3 times in 5 minutes to ask for my order while I was obviously studying the menu. I felt like she was trying to rush me to order and get the hell out. 4th, I ordered my meal with "hashbrown cassarole" and the waitress asked if I want that "plain" (please dont assume that I should know Cracker Barrel terminology for common foods). 5th, my meal arrives over 5 minutes before my "plain hashbrown cassarole". So, I leave my meal untouched waiting for the hashbrowns and a different staff member asks me if I would like a doggy bag for my untouched food. I told her,"I am still waiting for my full meal!" 6th, a waitress asked me 1 minute after getting my coffee if I wanted a refill on my full cup of coffee (I appreciate the effort, but cant you even look and see that my cup is full?). 7th, the check comes with the full meal (please eat and get out). 8th, the food wasnt good at all. Its the same thing as I can cook myself at home. Bottom line is that I felt really unwelcome, uncomfortable, and I think this place is dirty. I dont think that they mean to be this way, but its due to lack experience and poor management. Ill never go here again as long as there is a better place (such as MacDonalds).

I have not been to a Cracker Barrel in about 12 years and dont really know why it has been so long. We had such a wonderful experience at the Boise location. Every worker were super friendly and helpful. The workers truly enhanced our experience. The drinks: I had the sweet tea and was very good and never empty. The food: the chicken fried chicken was moist and had good flavor. The biscuits, well lets just say they love to hand those out. I had so much food for the money. What a great value. The service: I have already mentioned it, but it was worth revisiting. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with very friendly staff. This was consistent till the end of our visit. I have had worse service in a five star restaurant. The employees and managers should be very proud of the work they do. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I look forward to seeing you again.

We had the worst experience! After hours of driving we were looking forward to stopping in at Cracker Barrel for a hot meal before we finished the last 8 hour leg of our trip. 45 minutes after we ordered our waiter Jason came over to acknowledge we had been waiting a long time and offered us biscuits. Several minutes later he came over again to acknowledge our wait and to let us know there was a wedding party of 50 in the next dining room and that they were working on getting their food out so the kitchen was really backed up. My husband asked if he could check on the wait time and let us know. As soon as he left our table my husband saw him walk over to another table in the other dining room and hug another patron then sit down at their table! My children were starving and this guy is sitting down to hang out? We got up and left and gave our business to Chik Fil A where they never disappoint.

Stake was over cooked, scrambled eggs were under cooked and the grits were watery. Hardly a server to be found and I got up to get my own refill of tea. I spoke with the manager, he showed the same lack of care as his staff did when I told him about the food. I got a "Daaaamn" from him and he just looked at me. I told him the tea was normal, I hadnt gotten a refill at any CB from Lauisiana to Boise and the only CB worse than his was Laffiette, LA. "So Laffiette beat us." all I got out of him. So I have him a friendly piece of advice, act like you care when a customer brings something to you, and dont go Daaamn. Again I got a Daaamn. So I told him I understood why the service and food was lousy and left. Disappointing. I have eaten many a CB through out this country and the food and service continue to go down hill.

This was our first visit to a Cracker Barrel and we were not impressed. The food was plentiful and cheap, but I understood why it was so cheap once it was on the table--nothing was very good and we stuck with a lot of the basics-- chicken fried steak, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese and meatloaf. Worst part of the food was that most of it felt like it had been left to cool on some counter--luckily no one got sick. The chicken and dumplings were literally the worst Ive ever had-- basically white clumps of plain goo with no flavor--think gruel. The mac n cheese was the only semi-OK dish here. After eating we then had to go wait in a long slow line at the front of the "store" to pay. Not a pleasant experience and will probably avoid this brand in the future.

We arrived an hour before closing and thank goodness it was close to our awful motel (talked about the motel in another review). There were hardly any patrons in there, which meant the service was fast. Waitresses and hostess very friendly and helpful. My husband ate there for the first time and really enjoyed it. He had the campfire chicken and I had the meatloaf with mac-n-cheese and cheese grits. Was satisfying. Would definitely go back.

I am amazed at how fast they can get the food out after ordering! I have been there often enough to where I can tell people who havent been here what is good. Prices are very reasonable and as a poor college student thats a plus when I want to go out for dinner. Great food. Great Service. Planning on having spending my birthday here! Look forward to the Chicken N Dumplins every time.

I went there about a half-hour ago alone. Seated by a sourly hostess who said not one word to me. After a few minutes of not being acknowledged, another man was was seated a couple of tables away and was immediately waited on. Just then a waitress passed my table giving me another sour look to match the hostess. I got the hint and I left.

Came here a few times as a kid, but I didnt really realize what I was missing out on until my fiance and I went here last week. The food was fantastic, and the menu options left us undecided for the longest time. On top of that, the service left nothing to be desired. We will definitely be returning here again and again.
