I attended an introductory course and utilized this shop to complete my open water certification. In response to another reviewer: the owner does try to sell you quality equipment but their prices are not inflated in comparison to other shops and I was happy to have the access to expert knowledge and quality goods considering your life depends on it. SCUBA diving is not cheap. And I will agree he does come off as very self-assured but he also knows what he is talking about and he is extremely friendly and competent. You do not want to be 100 feet down with malfunctioning equipment. They also rent equipment there. Our instructor Buck was amazing. He has over 6000 dives (the owner Steve has thousands as well) and is a rescue diver and world record holder. I would trust him with my life--and I suppose I did. I felt incredibly well trained--we went far beyond what other classes do and I know this because I saw it first hand during my open water certification and I talked with my friends that went through training. I drove an hour to get to this place--other people fly across country. I am an anxious person but by the time I received my certification I was so calm. The facilities are very nice. They even let me come back after my class for a little refresher before the certification trip at no charge. The level that they dive at and their combined knowledge is highly impressive and I offer my highest recommendation. P.S. I think it is a shame people skew ratings with one star when they did not have a one star experience. Check the reviews on Kudzu and Citysearch and you will see how great this place is.

I just completed my Open Water Certification and I could not be happier with the crew and DSOM. They truly took the time to make sure every individual was on track and could do what was expected of them. After reading some reviews I was a little leery of the shop so I went in and checked it out then did some online gear pricing and found them to be spot on and in most cases cheaper since their was no shipping & handling. They offer fantastic deals and will even throw in your diver certification for free if you buy a full gear set up through them. Also from my experience the crew did everything possible to not make anyone feel uncomfortable and made sure to tell us from the start that if anyone felt offended or upset to let them know and it would be dealt with. I really dont see how anyone could get offended by these guys. Diving is a serious sport that if not done right can end up in the death of you or your buddy. Because of this the class can get very serious at times so some jokes and laughter really help to lighten the mood. Overall I am incredibly pleased and feel that I truly got my moneys worth and I will absolutely be going back for more training and hopefully some awesome dives with the crew. If you want to learn to dive or further your dive training take a trip to the store and just chat with the crew and I guarantee you will have found your new Scuba home.

Speaking for myself, I have totally and completely enjoyed my experience with Steve and his Staff. If you have any history with reading reviews, you know there are going to be a few bad apples in the bunch. I had driven by the shop for years saying to myself "Im gonna stop in there one day and get certified" so this past April, I called and set up my open water class. From the day I walked in I was greeted in a friendly manner by every single employee and I have always been treated with respect and great customer service. One thing that stands out to me is the track record of the instructors. Apparently, some reviewers want to bring into question the number of dives that the instructors have taken. Really? I can assure you this, they have been on enough dives to properly educate any person on how to become a certified open water diver. And then some!!! Buck is a man among boys when it comes to diving and he will teach you things in the water that you will NEVER learn anywhere else. I was fortunate to have Buck lead my first dive off of the coast of Panama City and he did a great job! If anyone is thinking about getting certified, dont waste your time or money anywhere else. Head straight for the Dive Shop On Mcever and dont think twice!

Thought that I was always given the run-a-round. Had to make several trips to the dive shop before the owner could take 10 minutes of his time to get me a referral. Took me several wasted trips before I could get my Dive Cards. Seems like he found a lot of excuses. Multiple phone calls unanswered. These calls were placed serveral days apart for about 3 weeks. I was told the answer machine was broke. How many businesses would leave their answer machine broke for 3 weeks. Decided I didnt want to do business with them anymore and told them Id like to cancel my daughter aqua camp and was told if someone else calls in and wanted to join the class then I could get a refund and my daughter wouldnt have to go. Now that the camp is over it has been brought to my attention that a class of 8 was really a class of 11. Just venting and tired of the misinformation and disappointments. I would never recommend that anyone deal with this shop. If you have to go out of your way to go somewhere else, its highly recommended.

I will never do business with this place ever again. The owner/ trainer Stephen is a haughty, kantakerous condescending individual. He is clueless as to the definition of costumer service. I was expecting to pay a higher price for the equipment since thats how businesses make their money, which is fine, but I wasnt expecting to get yelled at, criticized or belittled especially when youre paying to get taught an activity that should be fun and enjoyable. The guy hates teaching students and he doesnt even hide it. The only reason I went through the class was because there were other extraordinary circumstances or else I would have never allowed anyone to talk to me in the manner he did. Bottom line this guy needs a lesson in costumer service and humility. Until he learns that, I would never recommend this place. Buy your equipment online and go with someone who is not miserable all the time, and actually enjoys teaching.

This place is by far the worst customer service experience Ive had! My husband and I were coming in to do a refresher dive on our own. As we do before each dive if its been more than 6 months. Not by request of anyone, but by choice to enjoy. Something we choose to pay for, to use the pool and equipment. Once we were getting in the pool the owner showed up and stood by the pool making rude comments about our knowledge. We never claimed to be experts and thats why we were there to practice up. I thought this was supposed to be a fun experience not one that made you feel uncomfortable, doubtful. I will never be back to this dive shop nor will I ever recommend it. As a business owner myself, I am appalled that someone that owns a business like this would run it so unprofessionally. There really are not enough negative words to describe it. Just dont bother going here. Horrible!!!
