Moved here from Chicago and am a Menards loyal customer. Since there is none here, I have to decide between HD and Lowes. Lowes is a tad more expensive. HD first bad experience was asking about a product. Employee didnt get off ladder to check, just told me they didnt carry it..two days later I ran into the exact item I had asked about. Next, they were giving out plastic coffee mugs. I got to my car and saw my lid was cracked. Went right back in and asked to replace. Was told they ran out. When i mentioned i saw a few under the counter, employee said " those are for me, i cant give you those" ... excuse me?! I just spent over 100 dollars in your store and youre hoarding gifts that are supposed to be going to paying customers? Straw that broke camels back -Had paint mixed for porch that, on the stores paint chip, was essentially dark brown w a hint of burgundy to it. It turned out fire engine red. I took it back w a pic of how it looked on porch. They said I chose that color and they couldnt return. All they could do is add some black to it to try to darken it. That still didnt work. Ended up not using 60 dollars worth of paint and going to Lowes n buying more. Ive even spoken to managers and theyve never attempted to really correct the situation. Barely even an apology. Ive decided the few cents savings at HD is not worth the hassle. Update as of 4.1.17 i took my 3 yr old son to a free easter basket building event. The staff was very nice today. Very plesent experience AND the even had coffee made.

I have been at the home depot for almost every day in the last 3 months..the job I am working on is right down the road. We have spent over 15K there in the last 2 months and usually knowing what i need and want when i go in there so i do not need much help from anyone....today I paid for a few stones and some gravel and decided I would just pay for it, then drive around the side and get it loaded that way instead of load it all on carts and re-load it into my vehicle. BAD IDEA...I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come unlock the gate AND THEN i get major attitude from a guy named RICK that is a full time employee there because I have seen him on multiple occasions in the last 3 months. He is the most unapproachable and un helpful person at this home depot. He gave me attitude about what I had ordered and when he brought me the wrong item he made sure to blame it on the lady he was working with and tried blaming it on me that I "worded" it wrong...When he finally brought me the right blocks...now 25 minutes of waiting on the side...he said not ONE word to me or anyone i was with....RICK should be fired if yall are wanting employees that really care about their customers. This is enough of a reason for me to take my business somewhere else!!

Im not one to complain, but two past experiences that Home Depot in general has got to eliminate. One, we purchased several kitchen appliances and soon, someone called saying we "won" a free water sample test. Come to find out, I did my investigation as to what and who Home Depot is selling our name to. Of course the water sample demonstration is "free" but then they want you to purchase a whole home water purification system. Phone call after phone call, we politely decline. But yet again, the phone calls keep coming. STOP!!! No thanks.. Second complaint. You have this other guy walking around the store asking questions regarding your future upgrades in your home and how "we" can provide a free estimate with a visit. My wife no longer goes to your location because of this because she doesnt like to be approached when buying products, and as far as Im concerned nor will I. I have heard the same scenarios from other associates and clients of mine. Nobody I know feels comfortable entering your store due to these factors. Would you? Create another market strategy for those people who really want the products and services and stick to what works. Leave people alone unless they NEED help. Thank you for your time.

Was there today (7/12/2016) at 1:30pm. Went to paint department and saw 3-4 employees standing, only 1 woman was working. No one asked if I needed help but thats okay since I only needed white hi gloss paint. I could easily do that myself which I did since no one wanted to help or even asked. Went to pick and the woman that was helping a customer, comes walking back to get her customer the paint and mumbled " just let us pick out the paint so you dont have to spend hours looking" but didnt make eye contact so I assumed she was just talking to herself. As she came back up pass me to the front, she said something again with no eye contact but I know now she was talking directly towards me as she said "if you just wait upfront, we will get the paint for you since we have to do it anyways." How rude to speak to a customer. When you want a customer to acknowledge, you make eye contact, not smart remarks and say it behind customers back as if they cant hear you.

Very disappointed.. Had a seasonal item (hedge trimmers) that I used 2 times.. During the 2nd time, it died.. I took it back to Home Depot and they ordered me another one.. Same thing happened to this one during 2nd use.. It was a Black and Decker extension hedge trimmer with Lithium Battery. This time when I took it back they told me all they could do was charge me to send it off for repair.. Really.. I would not recommend buying something that you may only use twice a year.. Because by the time you realize that it is poorly built, you will be outside of their normal coverage.. Seems to me that they would offer different coverage for something you dont use regularly.. Oh well.. My business will go elsewhere for now on.

I like Home Depot except for one major thing. I refused to ever use self check out. I am not an employee of Home Depot and refuse to do what they should be paying someone to do. This shows no customer respect. Home Depot also uses to tactic to reduce the number of people they hire. I will gladly use self check out if Home Depot is willing to pay me $25.00 per hour which is what my time is worth or provide some type of credits for doing what they should be paying someone to do. Self check out is a slap in the face for customer service and putting the customer first.

This store is awesome from the guys at the painting dept to the flooring dept, and everywhere in between, it by far is a great resource for contractors and people exactly like us. We use them on a regular basis and will continue to be a regular customer. I would have to say much respect to the people who work hard everyday to make this Home Depot a great place to find all the stuff we need. I always recommend your store because of the customer service and the knowledge-ability, I have to say thank you for all of your friendly advice and support. Mr Hardwood Inc
