There are a few things to understand when one shops at a MEMBERSHIP club... 1) Just as a gym that charges membership fees at which you may not work out unless a member, Costco does not allow non-members to purchase. They are also very strict about not allowing one to use another members card. This BTW is to protect the member from unauthorized use of their card. 2) The checking of the carts is NOT about checking the customers honesty but be sure that you received everything you paid for. 3) There are times when many people shop and there are times when fewer customers are there. If getting out quickly makes a big difference to you, then find out the "slow" times and go then. 4) I have never, in over 20 years experience in shopping at Costcos all over the US had someone deny me help if I ask for it. No, they are not a high end boutique where the sales staff hover and make suggestions and this is one way they keep their costs down. However, I prefer to shop at a store where I know the staff are treated by respect and valued by management. Check out Costco salaries and benes as well as their corporate policies (like closing on Thanksgiving so their staff can actually spend their day with their family instead of working.) 5) Humans have bad days. Dont assume that because someone treats you rudely that it is the way you look and that they are racist. Rudeness is never acceptable. If you consistently are treated rudely by a worker-report it, minus the subjective "reasons", to a manager. There are plenty of people who suck up to management and are awful to everyone else but the only way managers ever know about it is if someone tells them. Be prepared to document your experience though.

I have been a member for over 2 years before I give a review. I do selective shopping in Costco. I find you are not necessary saving on everything if you dont shop carefully. Sometimes, it is only the impression that I save money but actually I am not saving. Staffs are not very helpful. Customer service almost nil (except sampling booth). Some are rude. I was scolded at once at the self serve checkout. The staff blamed me for not using it right. Of course I didnt use it right. I dont work there and I dont use that machine all the time ! Also, the shopping experience there feels I am always being rushed. This comes from the customer psychology. Wherever there is a food sample booth, people flock over just like there is no tomorrow. Every shopper seems to be in a hurry. The carts are big and when they rush, the carts can easily hit other shoppers. Finally before leaving the store after payment, there are staffs checking literally every piece of item you have on your cart against your receipt. This makes me feel like Costco assumes their members are thieves. Everyone has to be checked before they can leave. Walmart used to do spot check when their customers leave but not anymore. This "security before you leave" is the part I hate the most. I find it offensive if the staff over doing it by digging and digging into my paid items. I find myself dont go to Costco if I dont absolutely have a need to. I go way more to Publix and Walmart. I may not necessary paying less in Publix but I find price competitive to Costco. The shopping pleasure is what Costco can and will never provide.

Ive been a member for 1 year and was always satisfied until one day. I bought fresh salmon fillet and brought it home. I was ready to start cooking it when oh gosh! I noticed many parasites in it (small thin long worms) and they were moving! I was so shocked because we would have eaten it! We had to leave everything and come back to costco to give it back, asked to talk to a manager. A front manager said we should always be ready to meet worms in wild fish because they dont check every piece of it when they cut it. Its your choice he said to buy wild or farmed fish. Thats it! No even "we are sorry" or "excuse us"! Thanks they returned my money! I highly recommend you never buy fresh fish from costco because as their employees say there is always a chance to buy fish with worms. Do you want to eat parasites? Or may be your kids want to? And then go to hospital to get treatments? Not satisfied by how they resolve this kind of situations.

Its just very busy on the weekends, if you can I would suggest that you shop at Costcos on during the week days Monday thru Thursday. But to sum up my experience at Costcos, they have great prices on their meats and there hamburger is cheaper on price and it is surprisingly lean which is better for your health and the taste is not bad they also have a wonderful produce aria better prices and quality like for example there apples Red Delicious Ive shopped at just about every food place in Orlando and Im yet to find better apples, one last thing Peaches, it is extremely rare to find a fresh Peach anywhere theyre either hard and no taste or theyre good but are rotten in a matter of a couple of days, I Ive lived in Orlando all my life BAR. and I havent bitten into a Peach that the juices run down your arm and taste like a bit of the phrase heaven! So if Costcos is reading this please I ask you to try and find better Peaches.

Not our first time to go and buy in costco with our friends and their membership, altho the membership has terms, the only thing that matters is that they sell their product, this great son of a... didnt wanted to check us out after we did the entire trip to gather the stuff we needed a total more than $100 and the stupid membership card is only $55. They basically decided to lose that sale, and instead they werent even nice to offer us the membership, they just in a ignorant way kicked us out of the store. Lack of sales skills... it reminds me why I dont bother on paying them their membership.....I have to pay to get in the store to buy their products..... amazingly ridiculous.
