On a recent trip to Sanibel, the Sanibel Bean was recommended by our hotel as a breakfast option. It was terrible. Its a cute shop but there are definitely much better choices on the island. The coffee was okay but the food was where they failed miserably. When I asked the cashier about the sandwiches she pulled a menu out and pointed to it saying there were descriptions there. She wasnt a happy camper. But the worst were the breakfast sandwiches that were made of smallish bagels that looked like Lenders bagels, pre-cooked egg patties and pre-cooked bacon that was reheated on the grill. They tried to make it seem as though they cooked everything there but nothing was further from the truth and the sandwiches were dry and tasteless. The grapes were the best part of the meal. And their sandwich prices are priced on the high side. This could be a really nice breakfast spot if they only tried.

Ive lived on the island for two years now and Ive been to the Bean many times. Every time I give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again (usually on days where the Sanibel Deli is closed and I dont have another option). First of all, the food isnt terrible, but its nothing special and usually something you could just make at home for much less and much quicker. The service is terrible. Ive waited 30 minutes for a sandwich while people were coming in (who were clearly friends with the employees) and picking up orders immediately. Overall, the place is a mess. The coffee is far from special and no different from the generic kind you could get from any cafe. Skip the Bean, go to the Deli if you are getting lunch. Youll be glad you did.

Ive been a customer at the Sanibel Bean even before it was at its current location. They do a really nice job with brewed coffee drinks. I was slightly disappointed with a macchiato I had there on my last visit. It aint Buckstars, and that is good. They had a very nice guitarist playing there recently which gave it a nice atmosphere. Overall, for me the Sanibel Bean is one of the highlights of visiting Sanibel. It appears to be a family business, with most of the people behind the counter pulling shots and taking orders to be of Central American ancestry, and they are very nice, very friendly.

We visited the Sanibel Bean for the first time this morning. The woman who took our order was rude to us. She handed my husband his change and told us our order number was 41. My beverage was called out but my husbands beverage was not. When my husband politely asked a staff member if they remembered to make his beverage, she said "I have your cup here but you walked away." We were standing and waiting patiently less than 10 feet away from her the entire time, but she continued to take other orders and laugh and chat with 2 other staff members behind the counter.

We went there twice during our stay on Sanibel. Once for lunch and once for coffee. The food was delicious! We had a panini sandwich and a veggie sandwich that were excellent. All the ingredients seemed so fresh. We also got fruit and chips with our sandwiches which was a nice surprise. The iced coffee drinks were fabulous. Super cute screened in patio with additional seating outside. Awesome place to go relax.

Nice quiet place with a good variety of coffees. Excellent workplace as well as it has a very fast and reliable free WiFi service. Both inside and outside areas to sit and work. As with most in-island places call ahead just to be sure of their summer hours. They vary widely today they were open only until 4:00pm. But we were able to continue working outside without problems.

The employees are very rude and the drinks are horrible. We ordered just a plain Raspberry Iced Tea and it tasted like vomit in a cup. I do not recommend this. They wont even give you a refund and the employees make rude remarks about you when you order. They refuse to make it to your liking. The worst coffee shop you will ever go to. NEVER go here.

Coffee was subpar, Im not much of a coffee snob but the "hot" coffee was cold and the flavor was overly bitter and tasted cheap. Cant speak for the food but the atmosphere was fine, I wouldnt be surprised if I went at an off time but service was lackluster and I felt I paid way more than I should have. $4 for cold, flavorless coffee? No thanks.

My wife and I had our morning coffee at the Sanibel Bean twice during our recent visit to Sanibel. We enjoyed the brewed coffee and the homemade granola and yogurt. Generous portions on both! We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio and chatting with the locals. We look forward to visiting on our next trip to Sanibel.

Das Cafe ist ohne Ambiente. Das Angebot an Speisen zu gering und der Kellner war nicht hilfbereit. Wir sind wieder gegangen.

Worst coffee shop ever. The staff is unfriendly and rude. The coffee is bitter and not served as ordered. Its like theyve never actually been customers at a coffee shop before. It is way too hot inside. I recommend Bennetts for coffee on the island.

Its a coffee shop that does sandwiches, not a full service restaurant. We just got coffees to go but they were great. The place was slammed though, with the line going out into the parking lot. Id go again but not mid morning.

ABSOLUTELY DELISH! Everything Ive ever had here has been wonderful. Its such a peaceful and warm place too! I wish the bike paths were on both sides of the road so it was easier to get to on bike, otherwise - perfect!

Its tradition on the island to get your coffee from the bean! Dont forget to grab a Sanibel Bean bumper sticker to take with you on your world travels. The food is good the coffee is good but the staff is GREAT.

This place is absolute heaven. Food and beverages are high quality and reasonably priced. We go there almost every day when on annual vacation! I recommend the espresso shake and artichoke panini.

Was here a few years ago and loved it. This time I wasnt as impressed. Asked about their travel mug (listed on their online menu) and the guy at the counter just said, "no."

The quality of the coffee has gone down over the past few years. Its expensive for pre-brewed stuff that you have to pump out yourself.
