I have never written an internet review but my experience with Gun Craft compelled me to do so. I brought a 1911 to have a FO front and flat black rear sight set put on. While I was there I thought I would splurge and get a trigger job as well. I told the staff I preferred to keep it under $300 but if there were any nagging issues that needed fixed we could go a little over. I dropped the gun off in July and was told it would be 6 - 8 weeks to receive it back. So far so good. In October I placed a phone call to see when the gun would be done. I also placed phone calls in November, December, January, February, and finally after I literally forgot I even owned it anymore remembered to call in May and told them I was coming to pick the 1912 up regardless if it was done or not (I took to start calling it my 1912 since it was at Gun Craft for nearly a year). So 10 months later I get my gun back, end up paying well over $400 for it, and take it to the range the following weekend. Much to my dismay they installed the wrong height front sight and I after only firing about 25 rounds through it I am hitting 6" high or more at 15 yards. I called them back and brought it back in. Turns out they didnt test fire it to make sure the sights were one and a week later order me another sight and apply it to the firearm. I drive back and pick it up (over an hour drive for me just to get there each time) and this time shoot it at their range just to make sure it is good to go. I get it home and start carrying it on duty, however just realized 5 minutes before taking to the internet to write this review that while it was laying on its side in the holster on my days off THE REAR SIGHT HAS SLID SIDEWAYS WITH GRAVITY OVER A HALF INCH AND ALMOST OFF THE GUN. I am at the point where I dont even know what to do anymore. I heard the most amazing things about this company but I am at the point where I dont have the stomach to even call them again to get this fixed.

Just what I was looking for! Gun Craft consists of a main building with Gunsmithing and custom shop, as well as three 25 yard bays. They are rifle friendly, and will allow you to fire from a bench, offhand, sitting, kneeling and prone positions. On Mondays, they run a 100 yard range if you call ahead and make arrangements with the staff, who are very professional and courteous. They are, granted, a members-only range, but the yearly fee starts at $25 with $6 for a whole day, with other options available if you plan on going more frequently (I believe it was $50 a year and $3 for a day, and $200 a year with unlimited shooting. Again, depends on how often you shoot!) If you live anywhere near Ruskin, FL, you need to check out Gun Craft! (The other reviewer mentioned Project Appleseed: this range is PERFECT for practicing your fundamentals at 25 yards!)

This is the only shooting range within 20 miles of my home, so I was a member for 3 years. The owner is unfriendly but Im used to that. You CANNOT bring a guest with you. If someone from another area wants to shoot with you ONE time, they have to buy the $25 year long membership AND the $6 fee for ONE day. They only let you use their targets and they dont keep fresh ones handy so you end up shooting at one target all day and cant tell where youre hitting. Shotguns are not allowed, even if you want to just shoot the dirt to make sure it works. Basically, the problem is the owner. Despite my attempts to be friendly and always paying my fees, he refused to budge on anything that would allow me to make this range useful. He will put himself out of business, go somewhere else.

Me personally, I love this place. I have only been a member for a year and am getting ready to renew my membership when I return from Afghanistan. I have brought my own targets and they have never said anything to me about it. The only thing they asked was not to use any human shaped targets. I dont have a problem with that. They have handled 1 FFL transfer and I am getting ready to use them again for my 2nd. Yes, the range may be a little bare bones but what do you expect for an outdoor range where you can pretty much walk the range and not worry about other shooters shooting you in the back. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

Dave is one of best gunsmiths in the area, plus the owner is great to learn from. This man has hunted all over the world and builds world class rifles. If any one says Ben is rude then they did or said something to create that mood. I have known Ben since 2005 when I moved to Florida 10 years ago,he is always the gentlemen, never a know it all,but a real gentleman. I feel it a honor to know him and his staff for so long. Great place to shoot and learn from the weekend matches or just plinking for fun. Warren Taylor NRA instructor

Ive been going to this range for several years and have not had ANY issues with the staff at all. I have had issues with a FEW shooters from time to time who shoot a few rounds then want to talk for extended periods and hold everyone else up, but you have to expect that sometimes. Its a great little range to teach someone to safely fire a weapon. VERY knowledgeable and friendly staff, and to top everything else off, its the best price going anywhere in the area.

Everyone, from fellow shooters to the owners/staff, are friendly and helpful. The membership fee is very reasonable at $35/year (and $10 per visit) or $70/year (and $5 per visit). They have CCW classes, some guns sales, and of course gunsmith services. The only reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because the 100 yd range is only open 2 days of the week. Everything else is pretty much pistol and .22 rifle distances.

20 Years ago I took a NRA Basic Pistol Course at Gun Craft. I waited until recently to apply for my Concealed to Carry Permit. I received a letter from Tallahassee stating my certificate lacked the instructors signature and his NRA number. Today I returned to Gun Craft. They were able to remedy my problem. I am very thankful for their kind and considerate service. Again, thanks Gun Craft.

Prices for 2013 (as I recall, subject to verification by the business) $35 annual plus $10 per day -OR- $70 annual plus $5 per day Add a family membership $15 annual plus $10 per day Bring a guest (one time only) $15 per day I love these people, simple friendly folks who give back what they get. If you want a Corporate America shooting range, go to Shoot Straight, pay $15 per HOUR.

This is a humble range run by Honorable Veterans. I had them do some work on my rifle, there was an issue with it and James behind the counter replied, Well do everything to make this right.". No matter what the shop looks like or whatever perceived attitude others have got; This is an Honorable business that upholds to their name...my kind of place.
