Ill say up front that 1 West has a fantastic selection of liquor, wine, and beer, but thats the only positive thing I can come up with. I appreciate a beer store that goes out of their way to get the good stuff, and Im willing to pay a premium for the work it takes a retailer to develop a relationship with their distributor. Thats not whats going on here though. There are entire websites devoted to tracking the distribution and release of many of the beers that 1 West carries, and suffice to say that 1 Wests pricing is not reflective of any honest commercial relationship. A warm, eight month old Pliny the Elder? $65. Never mind that Russian River does not distribute to the East Coast outside of a few select Philadelphia bars which get singular kegs of PtE. Any of the Bourbon County varietals from the past two years? Between $90-$300. Unrefrigerated Heady Topper? $45. Again, Heady Topper is not distributed outside of 20 miles of Burlington, VT. The list goes on and on, but you get the point - rare beers at anywhere from 300%-1500% mark-up. No, I did not mistype those percentages, and Im not exaggerating. Draw your own conclusions as to how 1 West gets its beers, where theyre getting them from, and why their prices are so high, but fundamentally this is just not a place I want to support. Simply put, this place is selling beers that they should not be selling, at astronomical markups, and without even caring for the beers themselves. Dont shop here. This place cares only about the money - not its customers, not its products, and certainly not about the people working hard to make awesome beer.

Their prices are WAY TOO HIGH! For example, a Glendronach 12 Yr is $79.99 at P Street Wines whereas it is $54.99 at Sherrys Wine and Spirits and Sherrys gives you another 10% off their single malts on Thursdays. Also beware that they list sales on their website, but the prices are not discounted at the store. You have to know it is supposed to be on sale and ask for the sale price or they will charge you the full price. The only way this place can still be in business is the amount of money they make on uninformed customers. Stay away and take your business elsewhere. I recommend Sherrys Wine and Spirits as they have a great selection, awesome prices and have great customer service.

We call it "the magic liquor store" because it seems to glow from the street, luring us in. Everything is pristine. Everything is in stock. The employees are too helpful. Everything youve ever wanted to imbibe - maybe not EVERYthing, but hey, this is Dupont - is available at the magic liquor store. Go there.

Yes, they may have a lot of hard to find varieties, but they are so over-priced - its sickening. For example, a $40 bottle of bourbon sells for $200!! An $8 beer seeks for $20. Most of their products are marked up 50-150%!! Staff is not friendly or helpful. Definitely not worth your time or money.

Amazing selection, you just shouldnt buy anything here unless it is the only place in DC that has that item. What should be an $8 6-pack of beer is sold here for $12-14, a $40 bottle of alcohol is sold for $60, and a $60 bottle is sold for $100. But it is fun to browse their selection.

There is no way this place should have more than 2 stars. Cmon people. They are one of the worst price gougers in the entire city. Seriously, go to any other liquor store within a 3 block radius and save AT LEAST 20 dollars per bottle on liquor and deal with less terrible staff people.

Excellent place to stock up right for an epic party. Knowledgeable, willing to go to lengths to find the perfect Belgian Triple keg, or help you explore and refine your Tequila and Mescal palette. Frequent customer. I recommend.

The staff was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. They had everything we were looking for, including Creme de Violette and Maraschino Liquer which we had not been able to find anywhere else. Great place!
