As a former NGVC employee, I prefer to do all my grocery shopping there, and I have a lot of respect for the company. That being said, it pains me to say that this 15th Street location is hands-down my least favorite location in the greater-Denver area. Until quite recently, this was mainly because its long overdue for a remodel and the layout is often counter-intuitive and so different from other stores it can be down-right confusing at times. Pretty minor gripe in the big scheme of things. During my last visit, however, I witnessed some unacceptable behavior on the part of management: as Im going through the check-out, I notice at least 2 managers standing at register 3, counting-down one of the cashiers drawers (why this task requires more than one manager is beyond me, but I digress). As one was counting, the other was watching the other 2 cashiers like a hawk. They were doing their jobs absolutely fine. I was going through the line at register 2, and chatting with the cashier at register 1 and it was very apparent the manager didnt like this. She was giving us both (myself and cashier 1) a dirty look, so much so that it made me uncomfortable. The cashier at Register 1 was still taking customers, and acknowledging them appropriately during our chit-chat. His name was Spencer. I know this because the manager kept using his name to passive-aggressively correct him, saying "Spencer, you have a customer!" and "Spencer, get back to your register!" when he stepped literally *one* stride away between customers, as he waited for the next one to walk up. It was a very uncomfortable experience for me, and probably other customers passing through the lines as well. The stern manager only stopped staring at her 2 cashiers to harass the 3rd cashier about her drawer being less than 50 cents off. My mother happened to be with me during this exchange. I was hoping she didnt pick up on the negativity. She absolutely did, and mentioned it to me immediately upon walking out of the store. That was the worst experience Ive had in any NGVC as a customer. I sincerely hope that manager doesnt stay with the company for long, and it disappoints me that people like this are in management at NGVC. Spencer didnt deserve that, neither did cashier 2 or 3 or myself or my mother or any of several other customers that were within earshot during this exchange. Spencer is a great cashier, and he would probably be a better manager than the one that was yelling at him. Step it up, NGVC!

I have shopped at VC for 20 years, since it was a little hole in the wall in Cherry Creek and Lakewood. Im so disappointed to see how things have gone. Prices have gone through the ceiling. When Ive complained about that, they just repeat that they can keep their prices low because theyre a family owned business. Well compare the prices to Whole Foods--they are NOT keeping their prices low. I like that ALL their produce is organic, unlike Whole Foods. But still, I find myself less and less likely to go out of my way to go to VC when the prices keep going up and up. When I visited Austin, TX last year, I saw they had taken out full-size, full-color pull out ads in the newspapers. Gee, I wonder why they cant keep theyre prices low? Not to mention the TV ads. Theyre not the little local healthfood store anymore. I miss the smaller, more customer-oriented VC. :(

I like the Cottage(VC) over Whole Foods (WFM) for many reasons. One in that I dont feel like the employees have a "Greater than thou" attitude, which i unfortunately get at times from the WFM in Capitol Hill. The produce dept. at the VC holds its own. Not large, but good sales from time to time. I first started going to VC around 2003.And i go to the store at 15th & Platte now, even though the WFM is only 2 blocks away. There is only one thing i dont like about VC, all the prices have gone up just a shade under considerably over the last year, i especially notice it in the produce.

I moved here from FL a few months ago and was initially shocked at the drastic price increase in grocery items, but I find VC/Natural Grocers to be a great place to shop. I dont like Whole Foods for numerous reasons and find that everything I could want is at Natural Grocers at a reasonable price. The only downside is that the produce is not always the best, granted it is always organic and even priced cheaper than a family owned farm I used to work and purchase produce from in Florida.

Limited and slightly expensive store with amazing staff and the best selection they could give considering the store size. You can find a lot of things you need here despite the limited selection, but the prices will be more expensive as most everything is organic, which I prefer. Comparative to Whole Foods pricing with a few bucks here or there saved. Totally recommend. Only complaint would be store size and selection on some items.

I love this store especially the one on chambers in aurora, colorado. But I like them all. I think the staff are friendly and because I am a regular shopper they know my name and always ask how I am doing. You feel like a good friend to the staff even though you just shop there. I wish they would have specials or price breaks if you spend so much in their store. At least it would be nice for those who always shop there.

The staff here were all nice and helpful, I had several questions for where to find products while there. When the line at the register got long quickly, another register opened not long after the line formed. For a small store they a have a large variety, and everything Ive bought there so far has been tasty, a nice ingredient and they have a great selection of vitamins and other health and nutrition products.

This is my store. I love the size, the staff and the prices (for the most part). Ryan is a great manager serving the needs of what his customers want. I had asked the old staff for a particular item for almost two years. When Ryan came on board, I asked him and he had it within DAYS. Going to miss this sweet spot - as they too fall victim of the forever- growing Denver.

I love Natural Grocers. This is a smaller location but they are the best healthy grocery chain in town. They only sell organic produce and its really reasonably priced. They have great specials and tons of healthy, organic, vegan, non-gmo products and more vitamins and supplements than you know what to do with. The only reason they dont get 5 stars is the size.

Love this store for organic and natural foods. They have a good selection but this isnt the biggest store so you will find that some items are limited or not available. They have a nice selection of bulk grains and nuts pre-packaged which is helpful. The staff are friendly but this place can get a little busy at times.

Perfect, smaller grocery store. We were able to get everything we needed for our trip. Prices better than Whole Foods and other organic, all-natural grocers. Hope they expand and put more in Utah because we are definitely lacking good grocery stores. Too many Walmarts and crappy, rundown places like Reams.
