Fantastic neighborhood wine shop serving the West Portal/Forest Hill/Parkside/Golden Gate Heights area. They carry a great selection of wines from around the world, with an excellent selection in the $20 and under range for those looking for a more affordable selection. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. SFWTC has a small selection of cheese, liquors (many batch distilled), and beers for people wanting to round out their wine purchases. Tastings are a highlight here. These $10 events on Saturdays and Sundays offer a chance to hang out and try new wines. They frequently have free treats--one of the highlights in the past was excellent paella made just outside the shop. Ive bought quite a few wines after being turned onto them at the tastings. With a one-two stop at Guerra Meats and SFWTC, my picnic or home-based happy hour is complete! Also street parking is relatively easy.

I know very little about wine. When I go to the San Francisco Wine Trading Co. I feel very special. Gary and Julia Marcaletti as well as everyone working there are so knowledgeable about wine; I dont really have to know anything. I come in with what Im eating and voila a perfect wine is selected that pares with my meal and at a price that I can afford. Expertise and value is what they deliver time and time again. Kudors to the owners of this great establishment.

We are Cellar club members and we go to almost every tasting on Saturday and Sunday. Gary, Julia, Austin and Kerry are extremely knowledgeable about everything in the store and take the time to find something that matches your price point and taste. Always a great time and a pleasant experience when we stop in. Their weekend tastings are very diverse and have helped immensely in developing our palettes.

Great selection, price and advice. Heard about a champion cocktail on NPR had like 5 liquors, some I had never heard of. I showed them the article and they had it all. There is a tendency to think that you can only get a decent price in a big chain like bevmo, but their prices are totally fair.
