Horrendous staff and assistance. The store was rather busy when I walked in. I walked over to the gun rack area and waited patiently for a few minutes while the rang up a few people at the front. I saw one of the staff members who was walking to the front and said, nicely, "Could I get some help over at the gun rack when you get a chance?" He said "Yeah man give me a second" With a tone that was a little condescending. I shrugged it off and figured hes a little busy and frustrated so no big deal. Then, when he finally comes over to the area HE STARTS TO HELP AN OLDER GENTLEMAN WHO JUST ARRIVED IN THE GUN SECTION!!! That set me off, I cant believe he helped this guy out before me WHEN I ASKED HIM 10 MINUTES AGO FOR ASSISTANCE. I almost walked right out the door or said something, but once again I sucked it up. Clearly he was favoring the older the older gentleman, figuring he had money and would make a purchase (little did he know I make 6 figures). Then I had a question pertaining to if they had a certain type of ammo (CCI), he said "Yeah bro its right there!", with this impatient "how did you not see this, are you not listening to me tone" The box of ammo says "Blazer" on the front with no reference to the company that makes it, CCI. At that point I said forget this, and walked right out the door so I could come write this review. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS BIG 5!!!! There is a Dicks Sporting Goods off of Antonio with MUCH MORE INVENTORY AND NICER STAFF!

Store Manager Bao is EXCELLENT in all regards, and trains his staff by example. Bao exceeded all comparisons and all expectations in assisting me with considerations of a firearm purchase. Admirably efficient, thorough, patient and courteous, Manager Bao showed repeatedly that his thoughts were centered on my interests and not his sale. I found his knowledge in firearms and local shooting resources - and willingness to kindly share what he knows - as the best Ive experienced, including that which Ive experienced and seen at numerous gun-only shops in multiple states. Bao has no "attitude" except that of friendly, professional excellence. His staff is being visibly affected in the best way by his positive example, so Id expect (and saw) quality service from them, too.

Unfair treatment when purchasing a gun. My male companion purchased a gun with 3 questions. I was asked 8 questions, none of which is necessary for purhasing a gun, (like why do you want this gun and not this one) then was denied to purchase based on a male sales associate questions. However, my male friend was asked 3 quesions. which gun did you want to see? are you done completing the form? would you like to see another gun? I went to another store and purchased the gun. Totallly unfair and found to be unfairly treated because I was a woman.

Went for some shoes they have on sale. The ones on display are noticeably darker than the ones the salesman brought out. Asked him why, he said the ones in the boxes were probably faded. WTH? Asked him to see if he could find a pair of the dark ones. He came out a few seconds later and said they were all the same.

I was skeptical about this store because most large sporting goods stores are a rip off, but I was happy to get some good deals there. The people were super nice and helpful and you can get an extra 10% off if u sign up on their website.
