Our family has shopped at SPD for over 25 years. Not only is it locally owned, but the owners are exceptional. The meats are of the highest grade, much better than the super market chains in the area. They have a wide selection of organic products and carry the exceptional products such as Double Rainbow Ice Cream, et cetera. Safeway carries only the fake brands owned by International food manufacturers. Did you know that Ben & Jerry is no longer an independent high quality ice cream? It like so many brands [Toms Toothpaste, Burts Bees, ... the list is long] are only fake brands pretending to be what they once were. Summary, Shop at SPD.... because they are the best.

What can I say SPD is always wonderful. Great store, wonderful people always kind to you and,your family and, the Deli is time die for.. When I bring my 2yr old in with me to shop all of the employees are so kind to her. She is always right at home when she goes shopping with me. They also have great sale prices. I love Starbucks Coffee well, on sale $6.99 that is the price of one coffee in their store. Believe me I stock up Starbucks Coffee all flavors for that price. And, ultimately you meet someone kind you dont know and, every one is eager to say hello and, share a story. I always leave with a smile.. Great Store!

They have the best Meat department in the county Hands down.The best suasage for makeing a killer speghetti suace,the breakfast links are verry flavorfull( without the indigestion),and their steaks have great flavor naturaly no need for steak sauce here. Their produce is more local when in season which makes for the best flavored and freshest fruits and vegitables.

Very nice store. Great selection, helpful staff. Deli, meat and fish counter, bulk foods section, great beer selection. Excellent produce department, fresh and good quality. Easy parking. Only downside is that all this comes at a cost. SPD is a pricy supermarket. Even though its closest, I tend to generally go elsewhere for better prices.

This is wonderful little store it has practically everything you need is like a hardware store Notions store they do have a grocery store in a deli there their potato salad is the best Ive ever had its made fresh every 2 hours thats how fast it goes because it is so good and the people are super friendly.

My partner and I shop at the Nevada City store almost exclusively. They carry a lot of healthy foods that are harder to find elsewhere, even at health food stores. The deli is amazing and the meat and fish is of a high caliber. Plus it is locally owned.

SPD has really great, fresh produce. I also like how they have a hardware section because for simple stuff this makes it the only Nevada City hardware store. Good beer selection. Friendly staff. I do wish they had more organic things.

This is the place to go for your holiday meals with a full butchers shop and fresh local produce. Order the meat ahead of time as everyone else in town knows where to purchase their turkeys or prime rib as well.
