I usually shops Vons, because it is nearer home, half the distance from the LB Willow St Albertsons. Today, Friday, because the specials were too good to pass up, I drove to Albertsons. I took the newspaper grocery flyer with me, intending to purchase at least six different, low-priced specials. In the produce department I was shopping for chili peppers at $.99#. Couldnt find them. Circled the produce area twice. Finally asked the grocer working there, who was arranging lettuce. Without even turning to speak to me directly, he muttered "I guess we dont have any more. Were out." I moved on to the meat department, thinking on the way if theyre out, couldnt they at least put up a sign so that we dont interrupt the vital work of the green grocer?. In the meat department, I began searching for the beef tri-tip roasts, which were advertised in the flyer at $3.99# and for the bulk bacon which was promoted at 3# for 14.97. Nada. Asked the butcher/clerk who has hefting chubs of ground beef into the meat display cooler. "We dont have any right now. We might have some this afternoon." Might? MIGHT? What was I supposed to do, wait in my car in the parking lot until "this afternoon" and then check in hourly, all for "might....this afternoon"? I was lucky to quickly find that the store did have the other three items I was seeking; so I rushed to the checkout and got out of the place as fast as I could. This was all at around 10:30 AM on a Friday morning. One would think that on that day of the week and at that hour of the morning, a grocery store would be fully stocked and prepped for the weekend trade. Not this place, even though they advertise Friday specials and they advertise friendly, courteous staff. Not today, not this place. As I say, I usually shop Vons. So, I drove there from the Willow Street Albertsons; and I got my bulk bacon cheaper ($11.99 for 3#), passed on the tri-tip roast (which was $1 more than the unavailable Albertsons offering) and found perfectly acceptable chili peppers. Considering the Albertsons has recently bought out Safeway/Vons and will soon be managing that store the way it does its Willow Street store, I am going into mourning....

This is the Albertsons Grocery Store at 101 E Willow St, Long Beach, CA 90806 I have been complaining to the management for over a year now about the people that they allow to hang out in front of their store and beg. They are blocking the entrance and getting in your face as you enter and are leaving the store. Several times I have been verbally harassed by black men, some no older than 21 years old and they say disrespectful things when you tell them “no, or leave you alone. Greg is the manager, and I have complained to him several times. I have been told that they are very much aware that it is a chronic problem and yet all they can seem to do is ignore it. I have given them details on what has been said to me but for some reason they take their customer relationship so much for granted. I suggested for them, since it is such a problem, out of respect for their paying customers, to assign a rotation of staff to go outside once every hour and run the people away. This is the epitome of how retailers take their customers for granted. Just come in and buy my items and keep my doors open but I dont give a damn how you are treated inside my store or on my premises. Its disgusting what I must go through and I spend at least $100 every two weeks on grocery there as a single person. I dont like being taken for granted like this one bit and I think its appalling that more effort is not made to remedy this problem.

6-28-2017: Just added 2 pics of freezer in shoddy condition; again, this is on the management, they spend plenty at other stores while this one gets the short end of the stick... 2 stars because the workers are for the most part, very nice and helpful... Management needs to make more of them available ("the 3s a crowd, we call another checker" policy is often just a load of baloney!) Management needs to own and fix this. Today, I was in line that was way longer than 3 people and only 2 registers (plus 2 in the "15 items or less" line, which had easily 8 people waiting) were open; then the register terminal went bonkers, the checker couldnt clear it, so we all had to get in line behind one of the "15 items or less" registers, making everyone even more on edge... a totally frustrating experience!!! And dont expect good prices to match the lack of payroll spent on staff... some prices are OK but some are just crazy expensive! Guessing that sr. management is making out ok while the people get the shaft! Lots of room for improvement!!!

Five dollars for a head of cabbage. Read that again. Five freaking dollars for glorified lettuce while other places have it for $2. Every cereal box there was $5 as well. Couldnt find any cereal for less than that. The aftermarket ones that come in the plastic bags where the only ones you could get for a fair price. I suppose it doesnt really matter how much the price of food here costs since most of the customers that shop here are getting free food through EBT or WIC. Basically if youre paying with your own money youre also paying for the people that cant or wont work for the money to buy there own food. Vons has noticeably cheaper prices. Yes Vons.

Shopping was ok staff fresh fruit & veggies was not welcoming or helpful. Cashier & manager were just as bad. Had heavy stuff on bottom of cart & managee questioned me stating "Why would you put these items sodas, water on lower part instead of inside the cart" I stated that I couldnt put them up higher than lower part of cart she moved a couple items use the bar code gun & left items inside cart. Cashier loaded a reusable bag so heavy the canvas actually tore open when unloading at home. Had to wait for assistance to help unload cart. Not a good visit in the best of light made me wonder if I had offended them because I was disabled.

Im giving a 4-Star rating because it is the major grocery store closest to me. Im not a fan of the "buy multiples" to get the best price. This seemed to be throughout the store. Prices are a bit on the higher mark & the store reminded me of a TV show or commercial because the shelves looked stocked in the entire store. You usually dont see that in the real world! Albertsons either has great re-stock staffing or no one is shopping there.

Lines are absolutely ridiculous, 1 to 2 cash registers open on a busy Friday,Saturday night around 7pm with a line with over 15 people all the way back to produce department. Very disappointed, angry customers asked wheres cashiers? "3s a crowd slogan" the manager had the nerve to be disrespectful smart ass right back to customers who are pissed in a huge line some with a few items others with huge cart fulls.
