I searched online from work yesterday for a small pet store yesterday because I am getting a new puppy in a few days and had not done any shopping yet. The review posted said they are a small friendly pet store and I thought "great! maybe they can answer my questions and I can get all the staples I need for my new puppy". That didnt happen. When I arrived at the store I started looking around. It looked like there were two employees and one customer and another customer walked in right after me. Both employees busied themselves helping the other two customers so I started looking around. One employee left with one of the customers and while the other customer looked around the remaining employee busied herself checking stock or something. After about 20 minutes, no one acknowledged my presence. Not even an "Ill be with you in a minute" or "can I help you find something". Nothing. So I left, took my business elsewhere. I now have all that I need for my new puppy.

I recently found out about this store one evening when my wife and I were going for a walk. We spotted this shop and although small it had everything we needed for our reptiles. The staff was few but both were friendly. What impressed me the most was that during my first visit to pickup some large crickets, the transaction was less than $5 and I didnt have cash on me, only a debit card. The manager was kind enough to give me the 25 large crickets and told me to just pay him back the following day when I pick up the mice I needed. I did not know the manager and it was my first time in the store. It felt extremely comforting to know that this type of trust and customer service still existed. I understand that not every situation can be as pleasant as mine, but I wanted to share my good experience so that people know not every experience will be a bad one at Village Pets. Troy Teixeira

I should have posted this a while ago but forgot so a little late but...We wanted to buy our girls Guinea Pigs for Christmas. We saw some at PetSmart however they refused to let us pay for them while they held them for a day. They assured us they had plenty of stock and we would not be disappointed. Came Christmas eve they had all sold out! We called around and couldnt get a pair. We rang Village Pet Shop and Bob had two pigs left. It was almost closing time ON CHRISTMAS EVE yet Bob took pity on us and stayed open for 45 minutes until my husband got there to pick them up! He also gave us a bag of food that he did not charge for and heaps of good advise as we are first time Guinea Pig owners. Bob went above and beyond for us and was so friendly and a pleasure to deal with! I will not hesitate to recommend Village Pet Shop to anyone!

I love this store! From the few times I’ve shopped there I have been impressed with their customer service, friendliness, knowledge, and their great prices. Items I used to buy at Petco are half the price at the Village Pet Shop for example: Betta fish floaties, calci-sand, and tank décor. I bought a large purple-pincher hermit crab (a little bigger than a golf-ball) at the store. He is very healthy & lively once I got him home. The owner has a wide variety of reptiles, Betta fish and little pets like bunnies. I would recommend trying the Village Pet Shop before Petco or PetExtreme! You’ll likely find what you need for a better price & have a bigger, more unique selection for any kind of pet. Thank you to the owner, employee & Finn!

I live near the area and go there for all my animal needs. The shop owner is friendly and knows all of his animals. He will tell you which snakes are friendly and what size rat to get or even help you decide if you need to get a bigger cage/tank without you fearing he only cares about money. Even though it in a small place you can get almost anything youd want at the cheapest price.

Lots of merchandise and staff was nice but the whole reptile section hadnt been cleaned in a while judging by all the shedding in every cage. None of the animals had water and their scales looked beaten up. Rats were cramped in cages as well as mice but they were clean and had water. Snakes were not at all happy with such small cages for their size.

One of very few "Ma and Pa" pet stores in the area. This is a super cute shop with great service, great prices, and lots of small pets! Lots of aquariums and small pet & reptile accessories. And an old fashioned register! Super cute!

Located at 9 and 3/4 S Livermore Ave, it lives up to its magical location. As overwhelmingly cluttered as a wizard Wesley shop it is actually well organized with a staff that truly knows their offerings and are kind to children.
