Very first time I experienced pretty knowledgable and awesome service. The staff educates you and walks you through the entire experience. I had the fortunate luck of having Chris, Parker, and I forgot the other guys name work with me, I wanna say Troy but not sure. Heres what you can expect: 1. Walk in. Speak to the rep at the front desk -who in turn will put you on a list. In my case the beautiful woman put me on the list and I was directed to Chris 2. Tell them exactly what youre looking to get into. And when I say exactly, I mean it: How often you run, what type of fitness youre into, running, walking, cross-training, etc, any known problems (i.e. my ankles hurt when..., my knee hurts when.... my lower back hurts when....) 3. Youll take off your shoes and socks and stand on a mat, which will use thermal imaging to map the pressure points in your foot at stasis standing posture. Based on this sort of computer mapping, theyll be able to tell if youre flat-footed, have high arches (as in my case), if most of your weigh is distributed evenly or if its too far forward or too far back in the heel. The areas of highest concentration are marked in red and digress to orange, yellow, green, blue, and ending in indigo which symbolizes the least concentration. 4. After standing on the mat, you will be placed on a treadmill and get to a jogging pace while having the area of your knees, calves, ankles, and feet being recorded from a reverse angle. The jogging lasts approx 45sec to 1min 30sec and what the representative is looking for is a overall assessment of your tendencies are. The rep (in my case, Chris) explained this to me and jots down notes which will be given to you to take home. 5. If you opt for custom in-soles (which I did), you will be placed in standing position on a extremely cushy pad and the rep will have you stand on your in-sole -one foot at a time. Youll notice the pad heat up and when thats happening it is forming a custom fit for you. Having custom in-soles cost extra. A bit overpriced though. However, this is how they increase their profit margin along with selling things that arent shoes in their store.... 6. The rep then turns you over to another rep and briefs him on the same information that was given to you. In my case, Chris turned me over to Troy. Now this rep (Troy) specializes in shoes and will bring out 3 pairs of shoes to try on. Choose the pair you like and then its on back to the cash register. The staff their is super-friendly and whats refreshing about it is that their is a sense of genuine camaraderie amongst the staff working their. If you know about Mission Viejo or Portland Oregon... Talk to Troy and/or Parker about. Youll learn how Portlands air and tap water are way better then here. Just hearing them describe their running experience and lifestyle is enticing enough to get me to visit there just to check it out.

Update: After dealing with all this. I found out that if you have a return at Road Runner Sports and if you used you Credit or Debit Card, first your card it pre-authorized for the amount of the return. Which means your bank will hold the amount of the return, which makes absolutely NO sense and Road Runner could not give me an answer to why this happens. The credit is processed but first the it authorizes the card. So basically what happened, is you pay via CC, its taken out of your account..for whatever reason you need to return something, the next day or whenever, they swipe your card for the refund but it pre-authorizes the credit with charge (which means it will hold the funds, meaning they are not available), then the credit processes in RR system. Yes you will eventually get the refund, you will get that first within 2-3 days, but the pending pre-authorize transaction doesnt drop off for 3-5 days - so youre still w/o that money in your account. Quite frankly, I dont know how a company can legally with hold money like that, when all youre trying to do is make a return. It makes absolutely NO SENSE!!!!! And I spent 5 days of my time dealing with this with them Love their shoe selection but HORRIBLE customer service. Cashier rang me up wrong (over-charged me). Charged my card then could not fix it. I had to wait until the next day, when I was promised someone would call, I never received a call. I ended up calling and having to explain what happened I waited 20 min for them to figure it out and they owed me money, which they told me was credited - low and behold they CHARGED my credit card NOT refunded me. Now Im going to have to waste more of my time dealing with this. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!

Heres the bottom line up front - IF youre buying a shoe that RRS doesnt have in store (for example - RRS has the right shoe but you want a different color) and they have to use their online store to get your shoes, WALK AWAY and buy your shoes else where. Heres my experience - from the time I entered their doors to when I walked up to the register ready to make my purchase, the service was great, BUT as soon as my purchase went from being "in store" to "on line," (I wanted a different color) that great service went from VIP treatment (Im a VIP member) to Very Unwanted Person, where I was no longer worth their time, energy, and services. After a week of waiting for my shoes to be delivered, I went into the store to pick up my $210 Mizuno Wave Prophecy 4 shoes, and to my shocking disappointment, my order was CANCELLED for credit card verification purposes. Instead of the store giving me a quick call to inform me that I need to call their online services to verify my address so that my order could go thru, I had to find out 1 week later AT THE STORE. What if I didnt stop by the store? How would I have known that my purchase was canceled? Its like they didnt want my money. Thats unacceptable customer service, so I took my business else where and will cancel our VIP membership at RRS.

We were greeted by everyone by the front door. I was told to wait for the fit expert to help me to find the right shoes. The expert showed up but visibility distracted. He brought out a pair of shoe for me then disappeared. After put on the shoe and walked around for a while by myself, I want to ask him a question. Finally find him chatting with a female customer who he may be interested to hook up with. They laughed and typed on the phone. He told me that he would be right with me. They disappeared again. There are all the other store staff around but seems no one want to help me. After another 15 min alone walk around the store, he finally showed up to find me another pair of shoe. I guess I am the wrong custom for the store. I run 7 marathons and is a regular customer to Snails Pace. My first time at the Costa Mesa Roadrunner store is terrible. I dont recommend you to go there at all.

boohoo - I have been an on/off customer for many years however today was such a bad experience. After placing an order(i.e. logging in, selecting products, entering address/payment then clicking submit) the system returned me to the login page. This is normally not a big deal, although it is an annoyance, however their customer service could not tell me if the order was processed or not. Received responses like; "It takes 10 mins for their data to refresh", "If you didnt receive an e-mail then it may or may not have processed", "Sometimes it take a while, maybe a couple of days".....basically, they could not tell me if there was an order...UGH!!!!! Now I have to watch my bank transactions to see if I am actually being charged!!
