Possibly the worst furniture buying experience in 25 years of adulting. The store itself is great. Nice selection of beautiful furniture and decor displayed in tasteful settings. Happy he sales people werent like hawks and let you browse before descending. Ours (Brad) was very helpful and seemed honest. We bought over $3k in living room furniture at this store after looking all around the river valley area. We chose Ashley Furniture because we wanted a reputable (we thought) dealer that would back their product. We chose to pick up at the warehouse as delivery dates were limited and we both (surprisingly) work during the days offered. We were met at the warehouse and promptly loaded as the workers were trying to (obviously) leave early. They assured us they had just wrapped the items for shipment and they were in perfect condition. We peeked through the plastic covering of the couch and found a large tear in the leather. We then looked through the plastic of the loveseat and imagine our surprise when we found the back had obvious crushing from either forklift or transport mishandling. We pointed this out and the warehouse people promptly unloaded and brought out another set. We (to our discredit) did not completely unwrap this set but did tear holes in the covering to look at the main area. We didnt see anything obvious wrong so took it home. Whe we got it in the house and unwrapped we found several small cuts and holes in both pieces. I immediately contacted the store and was told to call the guest response team (this must be some form of inside joke...). They were closed until Monday so I called immediately that Monday morning. The GRT rep seemed helpful, asked for pictures of the damage and said that she would call me back. No call back for the rest of the day. I called in on Tuesday and asked if there was an answer to my request for replacement. She placed me on hold, and several minutes later came back on to say that I had not given enough time for the pictures to be uploaded or the supervisor to make a decision. I insisted we resolve immediately and she agreed that I could take the items back to the warehouse for exchange. (Keep in mind... not pocket sized dollhouse furniture here.). I asked if I could get someone to come out to assist or to load. Was told absolutely not. Asked to speak with a supervisor. Shauntez laughingly explained no, as I picked it up I had to return it and I should be grateful that they are allowing the exchange. I asked if there was someone else I could speak with. He again snorted and said he was the highest person I would be allowed to speak with and I needed to just return to the warehouse for the exchange and be grateful that was being allowed. I emailed customer complaint department at the corporate website and received a call from ericka stating essentially the same thing, that the furniture was special ordered for me and I should be happy that the company was granting a replacement if I returned the original items to the warehouse. (I would like to point out that I didnt special order...stock item that they had on hand on day of purchase.). I called the store and explained what happened with GRT rep. Was told they would look into it. Got a call from "Kimberly" that went to my voicemail as I work during the day and cant always answer the call on the spot. She left the GRT phone number and her first name. I called back that day (now on Wednesday with still no satisfactory resolution) and was told they didnt know who I was asking for. All I had was the first name of Kimberly. The GRT rep derisively snickered and said "well you should have gottten a last name...". (...did I mention the person Kimberly called me and left a voicemail without her last name??). I hung up (and gave up.) I begged some help again carrying the damaged furniture to a trailer and spent another Saturday hauling it to fort smith to exchange. Never again will I purchase from this company. Not because of the store. Solely because of the GRT reps and their treatment of the customer. Shoulda done research first.

The sales person that helped us WAS incredibly nice and helpful, however, the store didnt have the sofa I found online on their showroom floor. They had one LIKE it and thats what I was shown and what I based my decision to buy on (comfort, size, color, etc). I sat down and went through the purchases that I wanted to make and then was hit with the warranty fee and the delivery fee. I feel like if Im there spending the fortune that I spent (in cash) that I shouldnt have to pay a delivery fee of $179! The worst part of my experience with Ashley is that I made this purchase 6 weeks ago and I JUST received my table and dining room chairs this week and Im STILL waiting on the sofa that they didnt have on their showroom floor. I keep getting the excuse that the warehouse doesnt have it in stock yet. Well. Dont offer it as an item to buy if its not available to buy!! I shouldnt have had to wait any longer than a week for any of this furniture. When the dining set finally arrived, one of the four chairs I received was the WRONG chair and had to be returned. The correct one will ship (hopefully that doesnt get screwed up) with the sofa next week sometime. Two out of the three chairs that shipped were so wobbly that I called the store and told them I was loading them up and bringing them in and they would be swapping them out with their showroom displays. Before I took the displays as a replacement, I tested their stability and they were fine.....as long as they were sitting on the rug that was beneath the table, but if you moved a few of them to the hardwood they too wobbled. Fortunately I found two chairs that were stable and I exchanged them. I went to Ashley b/c I thought it would be a reputable company with solid, high quality furniture. I never even thought to read the reviews first b/c I foolishly thought the best of this company. I am not terribly pleased with their business practice. They got $3000 out of me in cash, on the spot, and Im STILL waiting on my sofa and got wobbly, uneven chairs. I guess I can say that Im not going to go back there. I feel foolish for spending that much money in that store and probably would have gotten more for my money down the street. Id also like to note that reading the replies from the managers makes me think that theyre all automated responses b/c one gentleman pointed out that he had no order number but the response from the manager asked him to forward his order number so that he/she could follow up. Another customer didnt make a purchase at all, just said hes glad he read all of the reviews first and he too was asked for an order number. Im feeling that pang of regret welling up in my belly.

READ THIS AND SAVE... THANKSGIVING of 2015: My wife told me about a thanksgiving special that was going on. So, I decided that I would go look. The sale was not supposed to start until 8 p.m. so we got there at 7:30 to make sure we could get the deal. When we arrived they were already open and we did not get the deal. Then when we questioned a salesman about it, he said that there was only 20. That sounded really odd to me but I guess there was no profit in it. The ads were very misleading and, from reading the other reviews for ashley furniture, I realized it was just a dirty scam to get people in the door. When we tried to get another salesperson, they kept dodging us. Like the next person, I also hate pushy salespeople, but we had budgeted for new furniture and were actually wanting to know some details. But no such luck. Our budget will now be going elswhere. I am legitimately suprised that this place is still in business due to the high number of furniture stores literally within walking distance from their front door. These other stores also arent so shady in their deals. UPDATE: We went to one of those other places within walking distance, Hanks, and got a great deal on furniture. The salesman greeted us and then left us alone until we were ready. We spent EXACTLY what we wanted and got EXACTLY what we wanted. It was delivered EXACTLY when they said and set up EXACTLY where we wanted. There was a courtesy call to let us know they were coming and they were in and out in no time. I will be going back. RE-UPDATE: So, I just wanted to take a minute and say that the furniture that I purchased at Hanks is still doing great. Im a big guy and I have two children and three medium size dogs it all is still holding up strong. The furniture is doing great a little over a year later and considering what I paid for it I really cant believe it. Ashley furniture made me so mad that even over a year later Im still coming back to this review and updating it. But dont take my word for it. Read all the other ones. And if you stop and think "It cant be that bad can it?" the answer is yes. And since my first review over a year ago it seems to only be getting worse. But luckily for you, you were smart enough to read this so you wont make that mistake. Save money, avoid stress, and go down the street, across the street or next door. Just heed all the warnings and avoid Ashley.
