If I could give a negative rating I would. Let me begin by saying I am giving my account of what happened and the reason why my family will never return there again. Weve tried this location in the past when it used to be a seafood restaurant and that was just an ok place at the time. We decided to give this place a shot as to something different for a change. It was not jam packed so the slowness of them even getting drink orders was close to 10 minutes later after we were seated... add another 15 for getting our orders put in. The young guy did provide a couple of baskets of 4 rolls during the time but we waited close to another 40 minutes before we had enough. The waiter even admitted it should not have taken that long and kept apologizing but that doesnt help when youre trying to get food! I didnt even start getting mad about this until it was at the 40 minute mark. There were people that came in after us that were getting their orders, but I am simply making an assumption when I say it was probably regulars. A large group next to us.. I noticed... had waited a while for them to even take their orders. Supposed manager came by and asked is everything settled? UH NO!!!! He said let me go check... came back out and said it would be there in 2 minutes. BS!!! After 5, we got up and I asked the hostess what I owed on the drinks and she had the only right answer of the night... No sir...you can just leave and I am sorry. As they say.. we were OUT! If youre not from around there, you may want to look elsewhere. It reminds me of those off road diners in suspense or horror flicks that have their own code, if you know what I mean.

Was on my way to my daughters place in Oak Ridge, TN, when I stopped for gas in Springville, AL on I-59. To my surprise, the service station had a wonderful selection of craft beers as well as a large variety of other items. When I paid for my beer, I asked the fellow behind the counter if either of the nearby restaurants were any good. He said they both were and recommended "The Choppin Block". My experiences with eating and drinking establishments right off the Interstate have been hit or miss over the years. This one was most definitely a hit! I was offered a seat outside with the promise of a fellow about to play and sing on an acoustic guitar. Great waitress with good suggestions on both food and drink. Great food. Friendly Southern folks with their families all around me. Great music. I should have been on my way much quicker, but two hours later I reluctantly paid my bill and was getting ready to leave, when on a whim, I asked the waitress (Cant remember her name,Sorry bout that darlin) where I was and she said Springville, AL, St. Clair County. She also said whenever I came through again that I should come back to visit the restaurant. Great Southern hospitality. I recommend this place to any weary traveler looking for a respite from the road. I will most definitely be back.

Actually, I give this place NO stars at all!! First time there tonight and will NEVER return. Were seated immediately but waited around fifteen minutes for a server to come by and take our drink orders (mind you, it was not busy). Took awhile to get our drinks and yet waited another twenty minutes to place our order. Asked several times when our order was to be ready and they kept saying "five more minutes". Server was to talk to manager, who never came by. One guy came by and asked how we were and when we told him "not good on account we still hadnt received our dinner", he never apologized, walked to the kitchen and told us "its on its way". After waiting for our food over an hour that NEVER came, we had enough. The hostess apologized as we were heading out and told us to forget about payment for our drinks and we left. By the way, they are ridiculously over-priced!!

Worst restraunt experience Ive had in years and I didnt even get to taste the food... Sat for 10 minutes with no service. There was only 4 other tables seated and nobody in line to get in. I finally got up and told a waitress we had been sitting for a while with no service. After that we set a timer. 8 minutes later we got menus and 5 minutes later we placed our order. After waiting for 45 to 50 minutes we offered to pay for our drinks only but they said they were on the house... I would not go back again nor recommend anyone to go.

Not good service.. water never refilled. salad was brown, first one sent back because of hair on it. second one sent back because it was NOT fresh and was limp and brown.. catfish sandwich was unfit to eat. the bread was even bad. I left it on the plate.. Shrimp po boy was hard, hard fried frozen shrimp you could not bite through. Prices are too high for what you get.. sauce for catfish sandwich tasted sour. Second time I have been here and food was bad. Not going back. Paying around $10 for a sandwich and I had to go home and eat.

-Chopped steak- overcooked (asked for med rare) -Teenagers hangout in the register booth -A manager serving food with FLIP FLOPS ON. -Mac and Cheese taste like mush from a day ago. -Owner wasnt there +the waitress (manager) was attentive -differed responsibility for all complaints DONT EAT HERE. GO TO WAFFLE HOUSE.

Great food and friendly service. Only reason I didnt give them 5 out of 5 was because my steak was a little overcooked (still delicious), my grandfather in-laws steak was undercooked, and its a little on the pricey side.
