Okay. This is easily to tidiest, prettiest reptile retail shop Ive been to. I was very impressed by their setups, and the food that was present in each cage was appropriate to the species. It was also unbelievably refreshing to be treated as though I knew what I was talking about. See, as an overweight, pleasantly smiling housewife, I tend to be treated as the housemom who is getting a corn snake at great personal cost to make the kid happy. Couldnt be further from the truth. In fact, I keep and breed a significant number of reptiles. It was so refreshing not to have to defend my knowledge and explain that I knew exactly what I was doing. I mean, seriously, when a customer can list latin names youd thing the clerk would get the idea you know what youre doing. All said though, I was immensely disappointed when I arrived home and realized....the in store costs were significantly higher than the online shipped prices. I bought an Argentine tegu and an Australian blue tongued skink. Both animals were, and remain, two months later, very healthy. However, I paid nearly $25 PER ANIMAL higher than online shipping costs. I attempted to negotiate but was informed that they make significant profit on shipping and need to make it up on in store sales. Okay, that seemed...shady but I could deal with it. It wasnt until I was home and realized that I had paid significantly higher than online prices than I had realized that I got a bit miffed. As it turns out, I paid $45 higher for the animals IN STORE...after driving nearly thirty minutes each direction...than I would have online. I could have had both shipped to my doorstep for $30 flat, and not had to drive at all. So basically, I spent $15 more than shipping plus the gas and time to drive in to choose between three tegus and get the only Northern Australian BTS they had in stock anyway (who is very healthy, but also quite obese). I honestly have never met a brick and mortar store that wouldnt meet their online price. If they had, I would probably pop in monthly to pick up the odd critter and some supplies, but as it is, I cant imagine I will be a customer again. In short, check the online prices before you shop here, and decide from there. Were I to go in again (which is unlikely), I would plan what I wanted ahead of time and provide a tally sheet of the costs of shipping vs. buying in person, and see what they said from there.

DO NOT GIVE REPTILE PETS DIRECT YOUR BUSINESS. I was recently in their store to purchase an Exo Terra natural light ION for my bearded dragon. Reptile Pets Direct was out of stock, so the employee recommended that I purchase a ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 UVB instead. I was hesitant and let him know I was not sure if it would fit in my light dome. He told me that if it did not, to bring it back and if the light worked, I would get store credit. Unfortunately for me the light did not fit in the dome, but when I took it back to get store credit I was told by the same employee that they will not take back the ZooMed light. I explained what he had told me when I purchased the light, but he refused to see if the light worked. It appears this store will do whatever it takes to make the sell, but not take responsibility if they give you bad advice. I recommend if you are in the area to give your business to Polly’s Pets on Pat Booker Rd, Universal City, TX. Polly’s Pets has helpful employees and a customer friendly return policy.

I was looking for a snake and they showed me a locality boa and claimed it was pure. But the price they quoted me threw huge red flags, as it was significantly below what a pure would go for. They could not produce proof, either the original cites or recipt from a breeder. In fact, I was told they have no records as to who or where they acquired the snake. Additionally, it was being housed in the same enclosure as a completely different species of snake. Even petco/petsmart are sensible enough to not do that. And when you are doing worse than them, you need to reevaluate how you are doing business if you actually care about the creatures you have.

Best reptile store in Austin or San Antonio. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, fair prices. After going to several stores in the area, this store is far and away better than any other. The most significant things that a shopper will notice is the cleanliness, great lighting, and very little odor associated with a pet store. Not so for many others. Also they have Exo-Terra brand products, which are fantastic. Great experience and Ill skip the other stores when Im in need of supplies or another animal. Thanks, guys! As for the comment regarding the online vs. in store pricing. Yeah, theres a difference, just like nearly everything else in the world.

Let me start off by saying that this shop has a great selection and I do prefer little shops like this to chains. Unfortunately 2 out of the 3 times Ive been here the employees havent been very nice or professional. Normally I wouldnt say anything but when I visited today the young guy ringing me up ignored me and held a conversation with another person and didnt say another word to me, just handed me my receipt, he didnt even bag my purchase, I had to carry everything out and they didnt thank me or wish me a good day. I prefer to shop at little places like this but not if Im supporting that kind of service. Very unfortunate.

I ordered a Blue Tongue Skink on 27 Oct at 10:20am Central, and received paypal confirmation. I called the store at 3:00pm central and again at 3:30pm Central and there was no answer. They are to ship next day, I sent an email asking when the skink would ship so that i could make arrangements with work to have the morning off to accept delivery. No answer and no response what so ever. Because of my schedule I cant be home every day for shipping so Im concerned theyll just drop it to the courier whenever they feel like it, perhaps theyll send a tracking number perhaps they wont. Perhaps Ill know its coming perhaps I wont.

loved this place, always in stock with mice, reptile food, and pet supplies. the prices are way better than petco and pet smart and their reptiles always look healthy. they know what they are talking about when they give you information and will let you touch the animals. i bought my ball python from this place and they were very helpful and nice, and gave me great advise. the enclosures they sell are great for the price also. the only negative thing i can say about this place is they dont have much variety in the reptiles they sell, but the ones they do are great for beginner and some intermediate level reptile owners.

This is probably the most cleanest reptile store Ive ever been too! They have really great prices on bedding and etc. and also make really good deals with animals and the set ups. There is one member of the staff that I dont see to often, but who was extremely knowledgeable and was very helpful to all of my questions. He knew his animals and mostly all of theyre habitats! Love this store and had an amazing experience while being there. Will be back again
