It was really cool to come across Oblation since finding a good place to buy quality notebooks and pens is not the easiest task anymore. Oblation stocks a good variety of both pens and notebooks, offering brands such as Lamy and Retro 51 as well as Calirefontaine, Field Notes and Rhodia. They even carry some notebooks that I was surprised to see in store such as Binderwerk, Quo Vadis, and the local Scout Books brand. While the pen selection when I went in was still low due to holiday purchasing, they normally stock quite a few options that would be desirable to many a pen geek. The Retro 51 Tornado was present, as well as the ever popular Fisher Space Pen. Lamys Safari was present as well; they even had the ball point version which surprised me. I am looking forward to paying them another visit, and recommend that you stop by as well if you are looking for quality brand writing tools.

Oblation is fantastic. First, theyve got an unbelievable inventory of creative gifts and supplies, but more impressive is their design and printing service. I used them to create fully customized wedding invitations, and they turned out wonderfully. Of note - their design staff is detailed and helpful. The service itself is not cheap, but they take *very* good care of us throughout the process. The end produce was fantastic, and they even supported us after-the-fact by providing overage once we realized we had slightly under-ordered. Seriously. These folks are great. Ill certainly return for gifts (the retail store is really neat) and any printing needs in the future. A++.

This charming little shop always seems to have something I want or need. Most recently it was an adorable, Japanese calendar to sit on my desk. They had so many lovely, artistic desktop calendars that I spent several minutes settling on the one I liked best. There is a fantastic assortment of cards, many made by local artists. They also have a small, but lovely selection of art papers for either wrapping special gifts or utilizing in collage projects. Finally, I love seeing their old presses in action! This shop not only helps support small presses, but keep this art alive.

I was in the store when I first moved to Portland and my 4 year old child touched the ribbons hanging from the rounder. I couldnt even open my mouth to ask my child to stop before the sales person yelled. I have never felt so unwelcomed in an establishment. Why not put out a plate of cookies and ask a child not to take one? I was appalled by this lady, who was just plain old nasty. I thought I would give it one more try, alone this time, God help me. It was equally horrible. Thankfully Paper Source came to town. Nasty, nasty people!

I came in here today with my boyfriend and daughter to get old school stationary to write letters to each other while he is away for three months (complete with new fountain pens and ink!). The ladies here were wonderful with my child. They showed her the parakeets who have hatchling and let her color, it was definitely not the type of welcome I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised. They were also very helpful and accommodating in helping us find the perfect ink and paper. Thank you so much!

How great is this letterpress! Authentic and local, and everything is such a treat to read at and feel. You can see their real letterpresses (6) in their back room, and I look forward to getting some personalized stationary. WIDE range of imaginative cards and Oblation also stocks other makers, which I thought was nice. Good range of your typical desk supplies as well--calendars, note pads, writing pads, etc. Fun knick knacks and Cavellini wrapping paper!

Im a letterpress junkie, and this store is my mecca. Dont expect Hallmark prices as these are (mostly) small batch, local items that you wont find elsewhere, including every beautiful variation of greeting cards. Ive never interacted with the staff, as they generally dont proactively greet you or offer assistance, but the shop is so great otherwise that I really dont hold it against them.

I just called to check if they had a particular envelope in stock as it was out online. The person helping me named Courtney was so patient, quick and friendly. She even offered to call another store to check if they had everything I needed there. Wedding planning can be stressful and its great when people/services are accommodating and helpful.

I actually wish I could give a negative scoring. I have visited Oblation several times and never really had a bad thing to say until recently. It was a nightmare to work with them and I will certainly be taking my money elsewhere. How they think they can treat customers so rudely in a bad economy and survive is beyond me.

There are a lot of fun paper supplies here for whatever your needs are. Want a snarky holiday card for the people who cant stand the holidays? They have them! Need some short strips of ribbon rather than a whole roll? They have them! Prices are a bit steep, but their selection is good for whatever your needs are.

Awesome store with a great variety of stationary. One of the only places in Portland that sells fountain pens and the great staff will let you test out all of them! The only place you will need to visit for pencils, pens, letter making, Notebooks, planners and high quality paper.

What an adorable little shop! Perfect place to pick up Christmas cards, invitations, or thank yous. A variety of items from local artists, as well as their own line made on an antique letterpress. Very nice staff, too. Obviously, be prepared for it to be on the spendy side.

This store is everything for the paper enthusiast. Everything. Fountain pens, typewriters, letter writing cards and stationery, inks, cords for bookbinding and hand bound books if making your own is too complicated/daunting. Everything.
