I bought a pair of shoes because I was having some low back pain. I had heard about a special shoe that was supposed to make you distribute the weight on your foot correctly. When I went in to ask about the shoe, I was sold the style I asked about. A week later, I tried to take the shoes back because they were causing more pain in my whole back and legs. I was told that I needed to wait until closer to the thirty days to return them because since the shoe was making me walk correctly, it would cause some more pain at first . After a couple more weeks, the shoes still caused me pain (they also never helped the original problem) so I tried to take them back. I was then told that the shoe company would not let them give me back my money for the shoe I could only exchange them. When I told the guy that I had talked to someone two weeks ago and was not told that, the man I talked to spoke up and said he had told me about the policy. Rather than argue with them I went home and called the shoe companys customer service. They were more than willing to accept the shoes back and were also questioning why this store merely gave me the shoes rather than actually fit me for the correct style of shoe.

I walked into this store knowing what I wanted to buy, but was approached by store clerk six times to ask if I needed any help. I declined but as I walked around trying to find my size, I was approached by the owner Mike Thiel who totally distracted me with related items I did not intend to buy and other bizarre stories. Feeling uncomfortable, I put the items I was to buy back and was made to look by the owner as embarrassed. I just wanted out of there feeling like I was cornered by an over zealous owner. Next time I will go to a larger department store or the mall, at least they dont hassle me and I can shop in peace.

Good place to shop if you know what you want plus you keep the profits local which helps our economy. For those of you that felt pressured by the owners to buy, he is simply trying to sell his merchandise,(its called customer service when they give the customers the attention they deserve. If you are week minded and cave to any sort of sales pitch give you me your address I have some land in southern Florida. Good store with customer service the way it used to be and is supposed to be. If you want ignored go to the mall.

I visited the store on the afternoon of December 23 and ordered a lightweight pullover from Holloway with customized embroidery added, that was to be a Christmas present for my son. I was shocked when I received a call before noon the next day saying that my order was ready to be picked up at the store. The owners of Sports Etc went above and beyond to make sure my son had his present on Christmas morning. The craftsmanship is excellent and their customer service was superb!

I would like to echo the sentiment from the previous post. Mike Theil is not an ethical business person. He takes advantage of the young, selling them on the need to buy more than is necessary. I, too, have been put in uncomfortable positions both in the store and later as I need to manage my sons purchases. Furthermore, I was a customer of Mr. Theils years before (as a teen) and it wasnt until later that I realized the pressures he used to further his business.

Ive been shopping at Sports Etc. for over 10 years and have never felt any pressure to buy things I didnt need. The staff know their product lines and always work with me to find the right item within my price range. Prices may be a bit higher than the big box stores but I feel good about dealing with the same people year and year out and supporting a local business.

Ordered my sons Lettermans jacket from them and they messed up the order. They had the jacket for 4 months and never got the name plate and told us they dont know what happened to it. Had to go somewhere else.

I bought a basketball here for a gift. The gentleman working was very helpful. Prices seem a little high, but still reasonable. I wish this place had more visitors, its a cute downtown shop.

I have been having my racket restrung here ever since I was little. The owner Mr. Teal has to be the most knowledgeable person in Lafayette on sports equipment.
