On 01.16.16, 1pm, Cafe Area next to Starbucks Coffee, a minor asked if he can use my cellphone to call his mom for a ride home. I informed him to go to the mall information booth or goto a mall security guard or goto a mall store. I witnessed him goto Starbucks n asked to use d phone n he was flatly denied by d manager n staff. The minor walked away n disappeared from my view. Horrorfied, I googled n cell called d mall office number with d following results: (1) theres NO mall information booth; (2) after waiting 30 minutes in the cafe area, NO mall security guard n NO police officer was ever visibly present. Since d mall is located next to a police station n Bart, cases like this didnt matter; (3) theres NO mall policy or procedures n handling these cases. So, mall stores r unaware with untrained store staff in handling these situations. Since theres NO mall enforcement nor penalties these situations r not taken seriously; (4) theres NO child safety signage n d mall nor at respective stores. Shocked, I conducted a private survey going to the following stores: Curry express, Game Stop, Kendama Syndicate, and Best Phone Repair. I asked if there was any official store document policy or procedures in handling these situations. They all blankly said, "NO" . Since Child Safety is not taken seriously this mall promotes Child Non-Protective Services and its many ramifications, like Child Abduction n Human Trafficking.

Plenty of parking in front of Sears, Target, JC Penney, and Barnes & Noble. San Bruno Bart Station is conveniently located behind Tanforan - perfect for those that use public transportation. There is a moderate selection of eateries from those located in the food court, such as Panda Express, Charleys, Starbucks, Andersen Bakery and Five Guys. There are four entertainment areas for kids and adults: Hop n Play ($$), Childrens Play Area (free), Dart OPS ($) and Gamma Arcade ($). Century Theater is located on the 2nd level near the food court, which is usually congested with people in line to pay for a movie as well as groups of people crowding around. Tanforan Mall is usually a clean mall - the only area that I think are unsanitary are the restrooms and Childrens Play Area. Luckily, you can buy sanitary wipes at Target if youre a germophobe. Below, I list my concerns about Tanforan Mall: - congested traffic flow of people (within the mall) and cars (outside of the mall) on weekdays after 3pm and weekends - congested entrances at Sears and off Hwy 380 - long lines at Target, even when all registers are open Ive been visiting Tanforan Mall since I was a kid, so theres no reason for me to stop. I can get all my shopping done here and thats what Im looking for.

I remember when Tanforan used to be an outdoor mall for the longest time, and when they remodeled years ago to a more trendy indoor setting, it became a hot spot especially in my middle school days. I dont really come here too often because overall I think the shops here are about average. I think what brings most people here (especially kids) is that they have that play area around Target, an arcade somewhere upstairs and this other play area padded everywhere that adults and kids can hang out together. Oh and a center that has you play with nerf guns? Sounds fun! Favorite shops here are the Hollister outlet, Forever 21, Tillys, Target, Barnes and Noble, and Old Navy. The food court is alright as they just opened a Quicklys and most recently a Milkcow. The Century theater is right next to the food court too. I love how public transport to get here is a breeze as the BART station is literally steps away. Why cant all malls have this convenience? (*cough Serramonte!) For the most part I feel this mall is much more quiet .. sorta reminds me of Hillsdale just a little bit. I think the better stuff is around Serramonte & the malls in SF.

I dont understand what those 1 star reviews are talking about. Well, maybe its just me, but Ive had a lot of childhood memories with this mall. My memories are personal, but whenever Im in this mall, I feel like nothing in the world matters anymore, and I actually get to enjoy myself. The shops are AMAZING. Expecially in the kids stores, the services are nice and the employees are wonderful. Food? Wow. Delicious fast foods. Theres McDonalds, Panda Express (fav), some Japanese food, etc. The movie theatre is what I love the MOST. Dude, it is so top-notch! You buy a ticket, then go up this "elevator stair thingie," give them your ticket, and there you go, a fancy movie theatre. My favorite part? After the 3D movies, you get to keep the glasses! (My friends and I poke out the lens, so we have fake nerd glasses. Good Times.) Best mall ever, in my opinion.

I prefer this mall over others if Im looking for shoes (name and off brand, sneakers to heels) or a quick outfit (ladies clothing specifically). It lacks with other types of stores though (i.e. decor, gifts and toys). The food court is always packed - they really need to rethink the seating as there is rarely anything available, even throughout the mall hallways. My biggest complaint is the parking lot: (1) the parking garage under the theatre is constantly taken up with BART riders and the mall/security needs to get a hold on this, (2) the amount of potholes throughout the entire surrounding parking lot is disappointing and (3) also regarding the surrounding parking lot (especially by petco) they desperately need to redo the parking space lines on the floor (after a repave would be best) as it is becoming unsafe and impossible to navigate.

There are a lot of shops, and the place is always clean. There is a sizable food court and that its attached to a target and a theatre make it versatile. Theres a lot of places that are expensive to shop at, which is a pro for some, but a con for me. Theyve sometimes got a bit of a problem with homeless people sitting on the front benches or standing near the exits by the BART. They often try to get my attention for no discernible reason, not asking for money, just trying to get me to look at them, and its kind of uncomfortable. But I guess theyre just people.

Rating this strictly on movie theater and parking structure, because I hardly shop the stores. Much easier to park here for movies than in San Mateo and slightly cheaper ticket prices than Daly City. Accepts discount Cinemark movie tickets sold at Costco. Theater is large enough to have all the major releases, usually with an option for 3D if you want. Actual rooms for viewing movies are pretty comfortable and clean for a movie theater without the overwhelming combination scent of disinfectant and stale popcorn found in some theaters. Mens room was clean.

The target here is not the best with long lines all the time. The Childrens play place is loud, smelly, and the children are doing crazy dangerous climbing. Everyone here is either yelling at their children, or is a young adult. Im not a mall person...but I have been to malls Ive enjoyed. This is not one of them. There is a theatre, food court, and a lot of parking. I guess its just SO BUSY all the time, I cant handle all the energy. If youre looking for somewhere to be chill and shop, go somewhere else.
