As a business owner and somebody who has worked in customer service for over seven years, I know bad service when I see it and this place is AWFUL. Ive ordered from Seattle Fabrics several times now and had an issue every time. The first time I just thought it was a fluke thing and decided to give them another chance. My second order took over 18 days to receive after I ordered it, and it wasnt even a larger order. When I placed my next order, they called three days later telling me that they did not have part of my order in stock. I called back and was greeted by a very rude man who seemed very inconvenienced by my call. He told me they would have my supplies the next week and I asked if he could send what they did have and then send out the rest later, to which he said yes. He never sent out the first part of my order and I received everything two weeks later AFTER I called two more times asking about it. I placed an order last week and now, four BUSINESS DAYS later (to give them the benefit of the doubt) I am still waiting for my order just to be shipped out. I have another company I regularly order from and every single time they ship out their orders the same or next day, even on weekends. Are Seattle Fabrics prices lower? Yes. But so is their quality of service and with how much they charge for shipping, it just doesnt even out for me. I will NOT be ordering from Seattle Fabrics ever again and I highly suggest going elsewhere for your fabric needs.

Ive read the iffy reviews here and I cannot agree with them from a casual buyers perspective. As someone who shops occasionally at SF for hard-to-find fabrics, cords, fasteners and webbing, Ive never had the aloofness described by others here. Instead, I find that the young employees have enough knowledge to answer my frequent newbie Qs, or they holler upstairs for backup when they dont have the answer. This is not a chain corporation, its a small local business in an outdoorsy town that has grown into one of the regions favorite places to start any textile-based project. When I re-fitted my kayak for an extended journey, SF came to my rescue as I sought unusual solutions and asked lots of questions. By having lots of samples, I could test my ideas before significant investments. Before learning of SF, I tried going to Joanns, REI and Feathered Friends for some of my project materials and they looked at me as if Id asked them to perform heart surgery. SF got it right from the start as I showed them my sketches. If you need hand-holding, ear-to-ear grins and general home hobby supplies, try Joanns— but they wont have nearly the selection of outdoor materials, adhesives, sewing gear and esoteric products as SF. They will look like scared deer when you ask about the denier and elasticity or a fabric. They will blush when you ask about Velcro-Compatible Neoprene or UV coatings. Not so at SF! Im very lucky to live near both!

The worst shopping experience in my long life! Expect ZERO help from their staff who ranges from clueless to mildly knowledgeable but unwilling to help, and in some instances extremely rude. These people are obviously just drop shippers, and their in store selection is a mirage. In reality their in store choices amount to very few colors and styles no body wants and full of defects as well. These people should not have a retail store, their service as drop shippers, is terrible also, with zero customer service, always a fight to get what you really ordered and within the time frame promised. I was the only customer when I walked in, with three sales staff on the floor. What should have taken me 15 minutes took two hours, and that is because there was no continuity, after each interaction with each member of the sales staff, they disappeared. One was most definitely annoyed to have to help anyone and was rude. This is the hardest I have had to work to spend 170 bucks in my life, and towards the end I considered walking away and leaving these people a pile of cut stuff, to see if they get a clue. My advise shop elsewhere, and never rely on anything these people say.

This is my go to place for supplies, sometimes multiple times a week. I have ordered online when out of town, without any problems. Also in bulk in person. Just treat the staff like the real people they are. Dont exploit the the staffs extra knowledge by grilling them for an hour about how to build your project, while holding up other customers in waiting and then be surprised when they try to speed things along a little and assist others standing in the store, sometimes rather impatiently. I know these folks could likely assemble my projects for me blindfolded in some cases and have advice on how to construct it better but, I respect that is extra knowledge they are kind enough to share, time permitting. I dont expect that as a service when going in for materials. This is a solid supplier of quality materials and hardware that I recommend to others. Also very glad I can walk in the door and get consistently helpful assistance when needed. This place gets the job done+

I have ordered online twice from this company. The first time, my order took over one month to even ship out! When I called to inquire, I was told that their computers were down, and that there were only a few people working there - well boo-hoo! I run a small company as well and would never offer a service if I cant deliver on it. There was absolutely no apology or remedy for this. I got the distinct impression that they didnt care. Hoping this was a fluke I recently ordered again from them. I am about to cancel my order. It still has not shipped after 8 days, (their website states 3-5 days to ship) and despite two phone calls to them. I again got the excuse that they are a small company. Well then hire more people, or tell the truth. Orders will take up to one month, or more, to ship!! Its too bad, they do have a good selection. But I need my supplies on time, so I can deliver to my customers on time, without excuses.

Ive been ordering from SF since 2006 or 2007, and have had a literally 100% positive experience. I say this as a long-time business owner who is very "touchy" about customer service. The few times they had questions about my order, they called me within 24 hours to clarify. I tell "everyone" about Seattle Fabrics because of my experiences with them (and know lots of other outdoors people who make and/or repair their own gear). I havent been in the store because of distance but looking forward to making the opportunity to do so. Ive never been "shorted" on an order or had the wrong stuff sent. Quite a difference from some of the other reviews here I realize! If you had a bad experience, give them the opportunity to make it right. I dont know any of them personally or even their names, I just know I rely on them and they dont let me down; they continue to earn my ongoing business & recommendations.

horrible experience ordering online from this company. as others have said, i should have read these reviews first. unfortunately i only came to check the reviews and write one after my bad experience. i sent an email to inquire about shipping fee. i was quoted 12-13 dollars but was charged 19. i was also charged a $4 "handling fee" which is not listed in the shopping cart or in the checkout or in the email "invoice" that is emailed upon completion of the checkout. i put invoice in quotes because i later found out that it is not an invoice at all. the actual invoice came in an email several days later. the actual invoice irked me for several reasons: a $4 handling fee, a $6-$7 overcharge in shipping, and a price change on one of the items. i tried to sort this out over the phone to no avail. it seems that this company does not care about its customers at all.
