Long review but worth reading: This store is walking distance from my apartment and I go there usually once a week. I usually love going in here and getting my favorite wine. Theres tons of selection for everyone. Unfortunately, My last experience was terrible. Yesterday (Friday, Oct 9th) my friends and I walked in and a woman worker Ive never seen before automatically yelled that all of us show our IDs to her immediately before coming further in to the store. Im 24 and am always more than happy to show my ID, but she treated us like we were little kids. She said it so loud and rude that all the customers were staring at us. As we were looking around the huge wine selection, I noticed one of the guys workers was just staring at me like I was doing something wrong. I dont feel like we give off a bad vibe but then he began watching my every move. We got in line and there were 3 lines, the same lady who checked our IDs right as we opened the door, told us the third register was closed so we left that line. A different customer got in the third line and she didnt ask him to leave and he checked out and paid before we got to the register in the line we were at. She then kept mumbling rude things under her breath as she checked us out. I feel extremely disrespected. I had told my friends about the wine store and they were all very excited to go in, now I feel bad for taking them to a place with such unfriendly workers. Although the wine store is approximately a 3 minute walking distance from my apartment, I no longer want to go there and would rather take the time to drive to another wine store or just a regular liquor store so I dont have to worry about being embarrassed or treated poorly but an employee!!!

The temperature of the store isnt consistent or at the correct temp. for wine storage. If you buy a red wine thats been on the shelves for more than a week or two the quality is sufficiently degraded to make it unpalatable. I have purchased many bottles from this and many other salt lake liquor stores and only a small percentage of the wines have been in decent shape. Purchase white wines which are more hardy or something that has been in the store for a couple weeks at most. The stores have a poor and expensive beer selection but the selection of hard alcohol is pretty good depending on the store you go to. I wish utah would leave wine in the more capable hands of the private sector, because with so many temp. damaged bottles that are undrinkable it seems like a racket.

The best wine store, bar none, in the area. Excellent staff who either know the answer to your question or can quickly find another on staff that does. Wines for just about any budget. Having dinner and need a match? these guys can help. New to wine? these guys will gladly help you discover something great. They also provide a great, relaxed atmosphere that will make you wonder, "Am I still in a DABC store?" Regulars are treated as friends rather than a "sale". And always interesting art work, changing every few months, from local artists as well as great music, both CD and vinyl. Yes, vinyl! And yes, they also have a very good selection of finer beers, local and imported, as well as mid/top shelf liquor. Go today! Dont drink bad wine!

Agree that the staff is great and their said practices of storing wine appear to be sound, the freshness of the wine cannot be guaranteed, especially if shipped to the warehouse in the hot months. Be sure to return opened wine if you feel it is vinegary, i.e. dont pour the bottle down the drain. Give the staff a chance to see your point.

I am new to Utah and learning the ropes. It is very nice to have people like Jessica go the extra mile to help "enlighten" me to the process. I cannot think of a time that I have visited the vine store that she has not been friendly and informative. Jessica, thank you for being patient and welcoming. DJ

Great wine selection but weak in liquor beer, which given the few state run stores in the area sucks. Occupies prime downtown space while not providing a full service walkable liquor store to over 1000 residential units that are within a half mile. Forces us to drive to other destinations.

Ive been to a few liquor stores around the salt lake area and this has one of the best wine selections Ive seen yet. Will definitely be coming back to restock when I run low. I love how they have so many reviews and points ratings posted. Very convenient!

The best part is: you can buy liquor here. But thats about it. Bad location, bad parking lot, long lines on weekend nights. It is worth planning ahead and shopping elsewhere to avoid an encounter with this place. Last resort only.

Staff is not overly friendly, but the selection is great. They close early, so be sure to plan accordingly. Dont hesitate to ask for suggestions - as the staff may be standoffish, but are certainly very knowledgable.

Good selection of wine and its well taken care of - stored on its side, etc. I have trouble finding things here, and we wont even get into the prices. Still a decent offering considering our states reputation.

One of the best selections in the state. The liquor selection ranges to higher end options, so go somewhere else for inexpensive home bar staples. Other than that, this is a fantastic location.

I found in this store some really good vine last Wednesday. Generally they have very nice choice of vines, especially the red vine. Prices are also very reasonable. Good wine store.

Having wine focused state liquor stores are great! This store has a smaller selection then the one on 300 W which is especially apparent in bottles < $12.

The Utah Wine Store has an excellent selection of wines. And there are always great discounts. There is also a plethora of top shelf liquors and wines.

Best wine selection in the state. Most other states have better wine stores, but this is as good as it gets in Utah... And it isnt bad.

Expensive!!!!! The cashier seemed snooty, not the best place. Fine in a pinch but better off going to another.

Good place. Staff very helpful. If only the state government didnt have a choke hold on alcohol sales.

The service is great but you will only find beer and top shelf liquor besides wine.
