I took my van in on the 16th of July. It was towed there 1st thing in the morning because it would not start. I had power to my van all lights, radio, AC blower dome lights everything electrical was working just fine. I did not hear anything from them as to what the issue was and I ended up having to call them to find out the status and diagnosis. Well the test said it was the fuel pump and they would replace it and it would be done Sunday evening or early Monday. Monday came and nothing they claimed it was a defective pump but I found out later the mechanic damaged it while installing. So they lied. a second pump was ordered and again they claimed it was defective but turns out they were just sitting on the part and not even working on my van. so Wed I get my van get in and it is completely dead no power, no start they had to jump me off the lot. which is beyond unacceptable. so I have taken it back for it now not holding a charge they replaced the battery and now they are claiming I have an electrical short! How did this happen ? All the while I have been lied to by Jerry the manager, Steve and Mike. Ace tried to help but still no progress was made on my car. I feel they have given me the run around and treated me unfairly due to me being a female. I do not believe that Pep Boys has given me 100% on my van and it has actually came out worse than when it went in. the quality of service is very poor and so is their communication. Jerry actually told me they never intended to replace the alternator after Ace said it was burnt out. Again they lied. I will never go there for anything not even wipers. Avoid this place at all costs people they are no good. I have also called the customer service line and put in 3 complaints and have yet to hear back from them. I KNOW THEY DAMAGED MY VAN BEYOND THEIR ABILITY TO REPAIR AND THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO GET IT OUT AND WIPE THEIR HANDS OF IT!. they also gave me back my van after replacing the battery with loose battery cables which became so hot you could not touch it. I could go on and on about this mediocre shop. But I will certainly spread the word not to go.

I have a 15 year old rusted out Toyota that I moved here from Cleveland with. Needless to say, its on its last legs. (Somehow I survived two San Antonio summers without air!) The hood release lever stopped functioning recently and another mechanic had told me the hood couldnt be opened without taking the front of the car apart. The light has been on showing the need for water in the radiator but I couldnt get to it. Today on the way to work, smoke started coming from under the hood. After work, I stopped by Firestone but they were soon closing. They suggested Pep Boys nearby. I explained my situation to Bruno at the desk. He immediately had me bring the car up and was able, in a short time, to open the hood. I told him I didnt want to replace the radiator because I would be getting a new car within the week. He had me start the car and run it while he ran water into the leaking radiator. He sprayed the release latch with WD-40 so it would be easier to open again if I needed to and explained how to get it open. When he was finished, he said there was no charge. I am so grateful to this considerate, caring employee of Pep Boys. Im sure he had no obligation to help me in this way, but he did. I was pretty frightened by what was happening and felt helpless. After stopping at Pep Boys, my worry had been relieved and I can now drive safely for a few more days. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Im not going to give it 1 star because I didnt actually get serviced there so maybe there is something to be desired. I visited the store off of marbach rd in San Antonio because it was closer to my residence, one of the employees (skinny, curly hair, glasses) greeted me and I stated I needed an oil change. He then stated I can get you in at 5pm. I couldnt stay till 5 because I had a meeting at 3 so I thanked him for his time and left, while leaving I heard him say "see you tomorrow when you come back". I took that as good luck finding a place to change your oil today and you might as well have taken my offer. I went to my usual place and got my car serviced right away no problem. Im not going to judge a business based on one employee but I really didnt appreciate his comment. I wonder why he made that comment towards me? Was it cause Im a marine and hes anti military? Was it because I have a disabled veteran license plate and he thought he could single me out easily? Maybe he knows me personally from somewhere and just didnt take kindly of me. Whatever it might be I hope he changes his attitude.

Took my daughters car in for a thermostat change and coolant flush. Called ahead to ensure parts and technician availability and was assured they could perform the work. Arrived at 1:30 and dropped off the car. Called back at 4:30 and was told the technician was out to lunch. They called back at 5:00 to tell us the technician was not going to make it back and they would not be able to complete the repair today. This was completely unacceptable and avoidable. Why would the technician start, then leave in the middle of the repair? Why would they not have another technician take over and complete the repair. In the four hours that they had the car, all they had done is remove some parts so they could get to the thermostat - they had not even removed it yet!! Now my daughter is driving back to Austin with the check engine light on and having to watch her temperature gauge to ensure the engine does not overheat. Very dissatisfied with the level of service here, and I will not be back.

Went in for a quick oil change before a road trip, the "manager told me I needed a new air filter and showed me a nasty looking air filter. Told me He could get me a "Good quality filter for 45 bucks" He must have thought I was dumb, because it wasnt even the same filter that goes in my car. I laughed and declined. and then he told me that during the courtesy inspection he saw that my rear shocks were leaking and they needed to be replaced ASAP, before it damaged my tires. they had them in stock and could replace them for 800 bucks. I told him they were replaced 2 months ago, and he said they must have been installed wrong. I asked him to show me the leak and he said customers were not allowed in the bay. Again I laughed (they were installed at the dealership) I went to another shop and paid 40 bucks for an alignment and all was fixed. Never take your car here, all they do is this k the customers are idiots and try to rip you off.
