If you are looking for tex mex street food. .this is it. Its a full time Fiesta here x10. Too many vendors to count. I do not recommend going there on a weekend with kids, elderly, or if you have any sort of medical issues ..or if your a rookie traveler whatsoever because there was ZERO and I mean ZERO crowd control or police here. One small incident here it would be tragic on a big level with trampedes. The city CLEARLY ignores all sort of protocol for crowd control and the fire marshals completely ignore the ENDLESS hazards here. I saw masses of people literally stuck in crowds here..there was no way to get out or a way to go around. THEY care more about the buck than you... FOR real. There is a reason why it closes at 6pm. I would go again. ..but not on a weekend. NO WAY.

When in San Antonio, do as San Anton-ians do! When starting off your day, hit up "El Mercado". Essentially a Mexican Market square, youll find textiles, costumes, authentic souvenirs, shops, food, drinks, snacks, music & entertainment, and everything else in between these festive street parties!!! There the Main Market strip and two major indoor Markets right along side the strip... and dont forget to stop at the world renown restaurant "Mi Tierra"!! This place is usually happening early on. Hit this market square party early on THEN make your way towards the River Walk where it gets happening later on in the day.

love coming here during Fiesta time. Plenty of vendors selling all kinds of delicious foods and drinks to choose from and no shortage of music playing everywhere. However does get extremely crowded no matter what time of the day you go during Fiesta I feel sorry for the parents who bring strollers people in wheelchairs because it is elbow-to-elbow walking back and forth and if youre not stopped bye homeless people and drunks asking you for spare change theyre everywhere , but what do you expect its a mixed crowd in downtown San Antonio.

Shhh!! Dont tell anyone but this is the best place for Fiesta partying! Yes, it gets busy but not NEARLY as crowded as NIOSA or other Fiesta events. Plenty of music stages, food booths, drinks, both outside and inside. Open year round inside for shopping, food, and drinks. Convenient parking in a parking garage as well as underneath IH-35. Great shops for Mexican imports/souvenirs, etc. Decent prices too - I have compared to other local places and they are not too much higher. If you are in the area, it is worth it and convenient.

Was here in March, 2014 on a saturday. Place was exactly how we expected, touristy and fun! Seriously odd knick-knacks and yes, some were from china. But just turn the thing over to verify origin people! Anyways, some were over priced, but thats why you bargain. Found some fun stuff to bring home and ate some crazy good street tacos and gordita. Think we may have paid Gringo prices for both of those. But it was a great time, we bought libations at the indoor market on the far west end and the kids liked what we brought home.

Visited towards the end of May and believe me its HOT! Street parking is hard to find and prepaid parking can get expensive. Live music was great. A lot of eateries to choose from. Public restrooms and ATM machines are available. It is a tourist spot so prices for everything is high, souvenirs, drinks and food. If youre not a drinker or into all of the entertainment you might get bored quick. A nice place to pass through but not an all day kind of thing. Otherwise we had fun.

The market square in San Antonio is a interesting if not touristy place to experience some Mexican culture. There are a number of stores to buy tacky souvenirs, think Mexican wrestler masks and a fee restaurants. The indoor market is more of the same with tacky shirts, hot sauces, and a few food stalls. It is interesting, bit not particularly worth a detour or more than an hour. Walk through if taking a longer walking tour of the city, but you arent missing much otherwise.

We visited Market Square this year on a Thursday around 12:30. It wasnt near as lovely as it is on a weekend. There are not tents lining the outside walkway like the weekends. And the inside area was very quiet and in traveled. However I have also visited on the weekend when its at its best so I know the potential of what the Square has to offer. I highly recommend a weekend visit to take it all in. Be adventurous, try different things and youll be surprised.

The Historic Market Square is a must visit area of San Antonio. Get breakfast or lunch at Mi Tierra and walk around the market. There are so many great shops. You can grab a drink then walk around and look at all the shops. On weekends you can also see live music and dance performances. If you are looking for souvenirs this is definitely the area to find something good. But its also great for home decor, jewelry, clothing, and glassware.

Lots of fun; bright colours, tasty food, and of course crafts and beautiful goods for sale. Prices arent quite as good as they were a few years ago and the stalls are a little samey - there are starting to be repeats of many items and the main challenge is just to see whether you can find the best prices. But there are still one-of-a-kind bargains to be had and the atmosphere is extra fun so maybe who cares? Definitely worth a visit.

Every time we come through San Antonio, twice a year, we go to the Market Square. I have to stop at the special bakery and get a real treat-Chocolate Eclaire or two. My daughter was here and said "Mom, you HAVE to go buy a Chocolate Eclaire since you love them sooo much. " I did three years ago and now Im hooked. Great place to find unusual stuff to purchase. Everyone needs to experience this at least once in their life time.

There is a lot to see here. The shops have all sorts of fun knick knacks and souvenirs for tourists, but also lots of pottery and decorations for people from San Antonio. The outside food vendors are amazing. The smell of cooking meats and spices had my mouth watering the whole time I was outside. Mi Tierra is also located here. Theyre open 24 hours, so you can visit and get some great Mexican food anytime.

There was so much stuff to do and see, Id definitely love to go again. Live busker music, and plenty of places to shop and find a good meal. We shopped in a flea-market-type place. Cool little shops and decent prices. We ate at Mi Tierra and the food was great. The only drawback was the 1.5 hour-long wait. Well worth it. Dont miss this place on your next visit to San Antonio.

Open area, depending on the event can be fun. The crowd can get a little hectic but again depending on the event. Several places to grab to grab a bite. You look around in about 45 mins going slow. Lots of vendors for touristy merchandise, they are open more on the weekend than the weekday. Even if its not you thing to buy trinkets, you can get some steps in.
