I have been wearing contacts since I was twelve years old and have dealt with various optometrists and their reactions to my horrible eye sight and severe astigmatisms. Never have I had so much trouble renewing my prescription than I did at TSO McKinney. They were having a special for new patients which included an eye exam, 6 months worth of contact lenses and a pair of glasses for $350. Somehow I managed to be charged $487. Not sure what happened there but I do have a complicated prescription so I let that go. Then I went to pick up my glasses, as they took less time to prepare than my pain in the ass contacts. Lo and behold I cant see out of glasses. Lots of out of focus/blurry vision followed by throbbing headaches and nausea. After inquiring about this, I was cheerily informed that Dr. Sher only gave me 60% strength glasses, without addressing this with me, because he was concerned about how strong my prescription was and then proceeded to suggest that each year we increase my glasses strength by 10% and of course buy new glasses with each increase so by 2018 I should actually be able to see out of my glasses. Then came time for my contacts. I received my trial and discovered that while I have relatively clear vision out of them, they didnt fit correctly and tended to spin around and gravitate to being upside down. Dr. Sher called me in for a reexamination and adjusted the shape of my contacts, promising another trial pair in several weeks. Six weeks later after Ive waited and waited for a call, I finally call up thinking maybe they didnt have my correct number and my contacts had been delivered whilst I had been unreachable. I was actually informed that my contacts had not yet been ordered, and it must have slipped someones mind. I have continuously been appalled by my experience with TSO and I will not ever again associate with them or encourage anyone else to do so. Honestly, and I speak from personal experience, you will have much more luck, and a far more gratifying experience with the optometrist at a damn Wal-mart

I LOVE Dr. Reed. She is so very nice and does a great job, all four of my kids have come out with the right prescription and they see great. The office is clean and nice. They get one star from me because of what happened today. Took my daughter in for contacts and eye glass exams. During the exam the eye doctor like normal brought in contracts for her to try on and to see if they were a good fit for her eye. Every eye doctor does this. Everything went great until the very end. When we went to check out, look at glasses, and talk about contacts and fees. We decided to buy glasses through them but not get a year supply of contacts because its frankly cheaper online. Because of this they charged us $70 for a contact fitting fee. They eye doctor never said there was going to be a fitting fee for the pair of contacts she brought in to fit on my daughters eyes. I see this fee as a retaliation because we didnt get contacts from them. There was no warning from the eye doctor to say, "Now that I have done your eye exam if I bring in a pair of contacts to check they fit you right and you can see, it will be $70 if you dont buy from us." I would understand this fee if we only scheduled an eye glass exam but because we scheduled both eye glasses and contacts this $70 fee should be waived. Lack of integrity on their part. So very sad because everything else seems to be amazing here. If this happens to you, my advise is to refuse to pay the fee since it was never mentioned and your main goal is to have an eye exam, which you paid for. Good luck to you!

The rating Im providing is for the staff at Texas State Optical, in particular, Brenda. While everyone is very nice and courteous, Brenda has been extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. I had come in as a new patient about a month ago now, and the initial visit was great - Dr. Sher answered all of the questions that I had, explained things fully and the overall process was quick and (aside from the dilation) as comfortable as can be when someones examining your eyes. The order that was placed that day for my glasses has been delayed from the lab several times now (still has not arrived to date) despite numerous follow-ups from the TSO staff. After about 3 weeks of the back and forth, Brenda contacted me and, in light of the delay and lack of explanation from the lab, offered a complimentary pair so that I had something in the meantime while we continue to wait for the lab to finish the order. I went in that day, chose a different pair of frames and by the end of the day they were completed and ready to go (they made this pair in-house). I cant tell you how much I appreciate her excellent service. She has continued to keep me informed as to what is/has been done on her part to try to get things resolved. The only thing I would say as far as improvement is to use a different lab - however, I know thats probably not possible and in the majority of instances, this isnt an issue.

We went there to see if they could fix my sons glasses which we bought at TSO in out-of-town location. They said that they could not honor the warranty of the glasses bought at another location, but they offered to fix the frame. The optometrist we dealt with seemed uncertain of what he was doing. He said that he would need to drill a hole to get the piece of broken screw out, but he came back 15 minutes later saying that he tried but could not do it. I asked to have the eyeglass frame back. He taped the hinge area, but it was so poorly done that it was bending out at the hinge after a couple of hours of my son wearing the glasses. He left his fingerprint smudges all over both lenses, bent the other arm that did not have any problem completely out of alignment, and made the hinge at the broken side much much worse than it was. Back at home, I had to readjust the alignment, clean the lenses, and re-tape it. They offered to book an appointment so that he could get a new pair, but I think well be buying one somewhere else.

We have been living in McK. for 35 years and been going to that location for 34 years. Dr. Sher is very thorough in his exam. I was bit worried before my last exam (Thurs.) but Dr. Sher found it was cataracts and his staff immediately made an appointment for me with the surgeon this coming Tues. I was very thrilled this was the problems and know it will be an easy fix. The only complaint I really have is that they do not a wider range of styles of glasses. I want something a little different and all their glasses are pretty much same normal styles with no unusual flair. But then glasses are not the focus of my life. Thank you to Dr. Sher and staff.
