My boyfriend and I came to Galveston on vacation. He wanted to get a large chest piece done before leaving. After a lot of research and visiting shops, he decided to get his piece done at the Galveston Tattoo Company. He was impressed by the cleanliness, the art work, the friendliness and knowledge of the staff... which the other shops we had visited were sorely lacking. Greg started working on my boyfriend and I suddenly got the itch to get something done too. Amazingly enough, Jake was free and willing to draw something up for me. He listened to what I wanted and gave me several options to choose from. Greg was quick and had a light hand. I was very greatful of these two attributes as the tattoo was on my foot. He even touched up (basically redid) the piece on my other foot as well, the touched up piece looks better than it did originally. The pricing was fair, infact I thought he should have charged me more. After mine were finished, I went back and watched Greg masterfully create an amazing piece on my man. He was super patient and let me observe him work, which many tattoo artists arent stoked on. We were there until 1:00am and the entire time Greg treated us as friends rather than clients. I have heard of southern hospitality, but was not expecting this! I have told Mario that we cant get tattoos from any other shop, that we have to fly down and see the Galveston Tattoo Company for anymore work on either of us. Thank you so much Galveston Tattoo Company, you were the highlight of our trip and WE WILL BE BACK! P.S. - Your apprentice should have been tipped by those two yuppies getting matching pieces. He deserved it.

Ive been to this tattoo shop twice now with my wife. Both times we have both left with great tattoos and extremely happy! The place is super clean and the tattoo artist take ever precaution to make sure that the area they are tattooing is sanitized before working on your tattoo. The first time, we got tattood by Chris in July 2016. Great guy and very light hand when tattooing our first ever tattoos. Both looked great and we are both completely happy. We went back a few weeks ago to get another tattoo by Greg. By far, he is the best! I send him a drawing that I had designed many years ago and he cleaned it up very nicely. The cross tattoo that I got isnt a small piece but does not take up my entire back either. Greg was able to help me figure out the perfect size to fit the proportions of my back and come out looking perfect. The final outcome is nothing short of spectacular. Greg Votaw is a great guy and completely down to Earth. He makes you feel like you are family. He is extremely knowledgeable and lets you know what you are getting yourself into. He isnt the type of person that will talk you out of any idea, but he will let you know his personal experiences and why he thinks it would work better another way. Ultimately, he leaves the final decision to you. We will both definitely go back to Greg no matter where he is to get other tattoos. I will not use anyone else!

I was visiting Galveston with a friend and we both decided to get tattoos. I felt pretty confident with this location because 1.) It had great reviews and 2.) After checking out the shop, I realized it looked very clean and nice. I got a tattoo on my right shoulder of a constellation. I thought it turned out very nice until I got a closer look at home. I noticed the diamond shaped "stars" were uneven and looked smeared. I didnt think much of it because I assumed it would look a bit cleaner after it healed, but now about 1 1/2 weeks later, it is clear that the artist did not do a great job on the tattoo. I would be angry if it was something that could not be fixed, but it can. Unfortunately, I will still have to go somewhere else and have them completely fill in the diamonds to even everything out. My friend is unhappy with her tattoo as well. She got the outline of California on her ankle with a heart towards the bottom. You would think something as simple as a heart would be pretty easy to do, but instead it is uneven and smeared. It looks more like a blob, rather than a heart. Long story short, I would not recommend this tattoo shop. Yes, im sure the experience could have been worse, but I feel the customer should leave 100% happy, especially when getting something so permanent.

My wife and I have been going to Greg for a while. Says a lot about your artist when you invite them to you own wedding. Those that say "rude and abbrasive"... how about looking at it from Gregs aspect. You come into the shop with a crap idea, he will let you know and then give his advice on how to make it better. Come in looking for a $50 tattoo and this is not your shop. If you want what you pay for and someone that stands behind their work, this is the place to go. Sorry its been so long since weve been down there but we have you on our agenda towards the end of this summer. Best wishes bro!

I first came to Greg Votaw almost 7 years ago, and he did a rework/refresh of a piece Id had for over 10 years. I was back the next year to get another one. My husband and I have both been to Greg a few times and have always been extremely happy!! Recently, I came in with my mom and daughter, who live in SC, so we could get a tattoo together. We planned this for several months so it was a very special day for us. Greg did a phenomenal job, giving us 3 beautiful tattoos!! He is honest, fair on prices, and the shop is clean!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

I had a wonderful experience here today. The staff were curteous and professional, the facility was very clean and nicely decorated. T=I brought in two designs and my Artist Mel Mo made short order of the final design, drew it and stenciled it and had me in a chair ready to start inside 20 minutes. Mel Mo was an outstanding artist she was easy to talk to, and listened to my feedback. She did a fab job of picking out my colors to match the original artwork. I would come back again to mel Mo for another tat in the future.

By far the best shop on the island, or the surrounding counties!! The owner takes his art very seriously, there isnt one artist in the shop that is a mediocre artists. They have all earned their right to work in a shop as prestigious as this one, and with a boss and mentor as great as Greg. There are many magazine articles that have been done on Greg and his work which are displayed in the shop, bet you cant say that about any other shop on the island...... Go in and check them out for yourself!!

You will never find a better tattoo shop and artists. The owner Greg Votaw has amazing talent and is an incredible person. He takes pride in his work, his community, and runs a top notch business. My husband and I have spent many hours with Greg and we totally trust him and his artistic abilities. We will never go anywhere else. You will not be sorry - Galveston Tattoo Company is the very best!
