Hypnotic Donuts is the truly local business youll love supporting. From the tongue-in-cheek psychedelic billboards around town to the funky decor (those couches!), even some of the donuts and biscuits have 60s throwback names that boomers, hipsters and young kids can cheerfully say out loud when ordering. After watching my bf order the chicken biscuit sandwiches that truly put Chik-Fil-As to shame (his words) for a second time, this vegetarian ordered a Hamma Jamma, "hold the Hamma", which amounted to an enormous, thick biscuit with a runny egg, cheddar cheese, and apricot jam. It was gooey, oozy, thick and delicious. Their donuts are decadent and amazing. I can only put away one of the artisanal ones in a sitting - theyre very dense, and definitely worth savoring. Their "standard" donuts are worth a try too, though. Try the glazed chocolate donuts, which were incredibly moist. As for service... yeah, it gets super packed in the morning, but thats a testament to the places exploding popularity and quality product more than anything. Most folks in line are happy to wait (and watch previous patrons scarfing their treats in the meantime) and the lines does, in fact, move. :) When its not as busy, or when making the rounds, owners Amy and James are friendly fun to talk with. Today we learned that after close, theyll often bring leftover donuts to local churches and other local businesses to foster more of a sense of community. If only more businesses did that kind of thing!

Wow! I am hypnotized! Decided to go there for a quick donut and got BANG awesome! The line was medium long. A record album cover with the menu was passed down the line making for a warm communal feel. It was very hipster inside. Groovy homemade art and swanky music plalying that reminded me of lava lamps and tie-dyed shirts. The servers were friendly! Not at all foodie-stuck up! Sometimes that happens in these places. There was a small wall covered with hand written letters and cards thanking the business from kids and adults. It was adorable. I ordered a kaye-chicken and biscuit with jalapenos, cream cheese, and papper jack. The chicken is marinated for 24 hours, then lightly floured and fried. Perfect. Not dry at all. The biscuit is perfect. The size is huge! I paid $4 and it was worth 7. But the price will keep me coming back! Coffee was okay. The ambiance and experience are so great, you want to bring friends and hang. A little crowded. But thats the way it goes in the city.

I normally have a nice experience, but not so much today. I placed my order and was ready to check out when the cashier up-sold me on the chicken biscuit. Sounds great I replied. She takes my money and awkwardly solicits a tip by asking me to "Answer the questions" on the payment screen. (The only questions on the screen involved tipping). I get it, you dont make a lot of money working a register behind the counter of a donuts shop. So I didnt have any problem tossing in an extra buck. The part of the experience that left a negative impression was that after I had payed, I was informed that there was a 10-15 wait on the biscuits. For me, donuts are a grab and go type of stop and I wouldnt have ordered it had I known the wait would have been that long upfront. 10 or so minuets have gone by now and the cashier has been camped out in the back out of sight for about the entire wait. So I leave having paid for a biscuit that I never got and wont be returning for it anytime soon.

First of all, the chicken sandwiches are incredible, even plain, but my personal favorite is with honey. They also offer more comprehensive options for the sandwich. I would probably recommend these over the donuts themselves. Without question, the donuts offered are the most creative, unique and varied that Ive personally ever seen. Most of them are great, not all, but Im sure there is something for everyone. The main downside is the wait. I dont know how a donut shop manages to have a line nearly out the door almost every day, almost any time, but this place does. If you have better things to do, its probably not worth the wait. Its just junk food after all. But if youre craving it, and you have 20 to 30 minutes to get your order and enjoy it, I definitely recommend it.

What can I tell you that you dont already know about this place? The donuts really do make you wanna go nuts! I think the maple with the slice of bacon on top really tells you what this place is about. Out of the box, great ingredients, and overall? absolutely delightful. They even have vegan donuts... Im not vegan, but ya know. Id give it a shot. And I think you can get a glazed donut when you check in, so thats a bonus! I tried my first Hypnotic Donut at Opening Bell Coffee... the Rocky Road with chocolate donut, marshmallows, nuts, chocolate and caramel sauces. AMAZE-BALLS! I was hooked since then, and really no other donut compares in Dallas. Aint no party like a Hypnotic Party, cause a Hypnotic party dont stop. Check it out. If youre not close? Make the freaking trip.

So its Saturday morning and there is one person taking orders and one accepting payment. Ten minutes in line, then I was told there was a ten minute (!) wait for a chicken biscuit, so I changed to a biscuit and gravy in addition to my maple bacon long john. Really.....so disappointing. A small, unimpressive long john with standard maple glaze topped with bacon....that was so-so. Halfway through I caught a whiff of jalapeno and a little heat. That doesnt speak well for quality control. The biscuit and gravy had so little gravy that half the biscuit was left dry in its tiny styrofoam container. $8 for this order!! [Im sorry, Ferguson Donuts, for cheating on you!!! Never again. Ill be back there for good, fresh, reasonably-priced donuts and excellent service.]

Im very health conscious so Im typically not big on donuts, but started seeing a billboard for them on my way home from work and looked them up and saw all the creative donuts they create. This place has become my guilty splurge every week or two. I have yet to try a creation that wasnt good. They use quality ingredients in their donuts so this isnt youre average cheap, stale donut shop. Also I always get a chicken biscuit which are so good! The biscuit is flaky and just a little buttery and the chicken is so tender! I recommend the Kayes chicken and biscuit.

Got Biscuit and gravy with sausage, glazed, canadian healthcare, orange cake, apple fritter, cinnamon sugar cake........all of these were outstanding except the sausage. It seems like a low quality preformed sausage patty that you get at Walmart in the freezer section. Biscuit and gravy were great! Donuts were fantastic. Love the vibe, counter folks were friendly and fast. Only complaint was lack of seating. But with the quality of these donuts, I think this is a temporary problem. ❤
