This place is a joke. I went there one evening to get consulted and apparently everyone was too busy and someone there suggested that I check back around 4pm-6pm...considering they are located outside of downtown, was it worth going back? NO! I decided to try again after emailing Linda about getting consulted. I stopped in and there was only one artist in there so I waited patiently while he tattooed a couple who got small tattoos. Keep in mind, I wanted to just get consulted. I knew I wasnt going to get a tattoo on the same time and day. The guy who was there says he was booked so I said I would wait for Linda. Linda arrives, and already had people waiting for her. I was told there was a two month wait with her. I waited and there is no one else around since this was around noon on a Friday. Even Linda did not acknowledge me or ask if I needed any help. After the guy who was the only artist in there before Linda, this guy ends up going to lunch! That was his definition of being booked and he couldnt spare 5 minutes to consult with me? WOW! This place was just an overall joke. Ridiculous customer service, cannot even acknowledge people who admire their work and want work done by them. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE....unless of course you are scheduled into their two month wait. ELM STREET TATTOO is not the place to go; stick to your local shops outside of Deep Ellum.

The tattoo artist named Bubba did not listen to my wishes for what kind of tattoo I wanted and the size. He was very condescending in the fact that I was a tattoo newbie and I did not know for sure what I wanted. He tried to reason with me in the way his tattoos looked and the size of them and that I would be regretful if I didnt go bigger. The way he is tattooed up doesnt even compare to what I wanted and shouldnt have even been used as justification. He even took a dig at my friends tattoo, saying that even tho they look nice, they arent nothing like his. Why on earth would he even mention that? Well I listened to his recommendations and I now regret it. It is huge and smeared looking. All it was supposed to be was "Believe" on my wrist. It looks horrible and is a constant reminder of regret. Before you said I didnt do my aftercare right, I did exactly what he told me. I dont know about the rest of the shop, but I can rest assure that I insist you not use Bubba. He has no people skills, is very pushy and will use his "knowledge" into you getting something you probably will end up regretting or worse, hating.

I came to Elm Street Tattoo with the intention of getting a tattoo. I was told that the next artist would be available in 2 hours. The guy at the counter told me to go get some dinner to "raise my blood pressure" in the meantime. So, I decided to make that appointment and come back in 2 hours. Upon coming back at the exact time I was supposed to, I was then told that another customer just showed up ahead of me. Needless to say, the tattoo did not happen. I think this is an atrocious way of handling business, and I am sure that the artists do not appreciate business being driven away. I know that I most definitely will not come back here. As an aside, when asked about the sterile techniques and autoclaving of the instruments, the man did not know the temperature of their autoclave, but referred to it rather by "that temperature that kills stuff." Im sure there is a setting on the autoclave dial for that. However, he did reassure me that this does not matter anyway, since the instruments dont touch the skin. Nice.

My experience was exceptional. I went straight after work (after 5:00pm) on a Friday because I knew it was going to be less busy compared to going around 8:00pm-10:00pm when there would be a rush of people. I was right! I walked in, there was only a couple people waiting. At first I sat there and waited on someone to greet me but I got up and went up to the counter to get some service. Joe helped me. I came prepared with pictures of what I wanted and the positioning. Everything went very smoothly. Joe was very helpful and patient. Most importantly my tattoo came out great. I got it on my spine which is a difficult place to get a tat and also done in a Hebrew text. My tat was done precisely and the detailing was great. Reasonably priced too. When he was finishing up, the shop was full of people and got very busy which was around 9:00pm. I chose a great time to go in, get what I want and leave satisfied..

Was very excited to come get a tattoo here after so many people recommended it to me, but the guy I talked to was incredibly rude and although I know cover ups are a pain, said it would be "about 80" to fix a heart that is about the size of a dime, slightly bigger. A simple heart, black outline, red filling. Although I was ready to get my whole shoulder done and that fixed as well, MANY other places quoted me way less. (on the heart) I was on the fence about just paying more then I thought it was worth to fix, or going somewhere else but the way whomever I spoke with acted really put me off. My friend and I both felt like if I wouldve stayed and got either of the tattoos done it wouldve been a rush job by someone who made it obvious he had no interest in helping me or doing the work. You dont have to be the friendliest guy in the world, but you dont have to be rude either. Very disappointed.

Walked in for a recommendation on a cover-up I want done and while the girl behind the counter was friendly enough all I walked away with was a business card for an artist who was not there that day. For 3 days Ive tried contacting the artist and not so much as a response. Im very disappointed and frustrated. It seems unprofessional to me for them to ignore customers. Had I gotten done what I wanted I would have been a repeat customer for a long time to come as Ive compiled a list of work I want done, however it appears as though I will be taking my business elsewhere. Its a shame really.

We went to the shop on Feb 14th, I wanted a Q and a heart for the Queen of hearts on my wrist. Very simple design, very small tattoo. Waited 2 hours (no big deal) had the tattoo done in red. Was told it was a "red that gets darker when it heals" and it is now as of today fully healed and barely visible. The ink all rolled right out. Its pink at best and looks like a surgical scar..... Not sure how to fix or even what to do but it looks TERRIBLE...... No way to email anyone at the shop for help so hopefully someone can give me some direction on how to fix it by reading this review.

I love this shop! The staff is friendly, the shop is clean and covered in good artwork and awesome decorations! I have been to Linda a few times and she is amazing! When artists in my state blew me off about the tattoo I wanted I emailed her and talked my design out with her and she accommodated my distance and designed a beautiful custom traditional tattoo to my specifications! She is very down to earth, friendly and professional.. not to mention extremely talented! Im in love with my tattoo and will be visiting often! The whole experience is worth the three hour drive!
