Without question, the best Tattoo shop in South Carolina. My first visit there was to pick up a friend that was getting tattood. I arrived early, and my first impression was of how creatively the space was used. Artwork hanging everywhere, little private booths each decorated and set up by the artist it belongs to, really shows each artists style. I sat down and began looking through some of the portfolios. Lots of it based in Eastern and Western Traditional styles, and masterful work at that. Not necessarily the type of artwork I prefer, however I can appreciate it as well as acknowledge and respect its place and what it has done for tattooing and art in general. I began talking with one of the artists (who happened to be the owner) and long story short we realized that we both had a penchant for a style of art from the late 18th century, and the idea of trying to transform imagery from that era into a tattoo that could still hold its boldness over time as well as its intricate details, became a project that we shared a mutual excitement for. Needless to say I was very happy with the final product. Shortly after, I moved halfway across the country, to Austin TX, a tattoo Mecca, and made my rounds to the local shops, some considered to have some of the "best" artists in the nation, and was repeatedly asked about the tattoo I received from Eric. At the mention of his name and shop I was immediately shown the amount of respect and level of professionalism the artists at Devine Street Tattoo and Eric himself have earned. I consider this a shop of artists who tattoo. Not run of the mill "I can trace this on you with a tattoo machine" type of guys that you find on the strip. Good Luck and GO GET TATTOOED!

my gf went in for a touch up.. Brian was really nice to her. I had seen a lot of his work and wanted a full sleeve by him. His work is stellar, honestly. I made a consult appointment (which i had to wait weeks for, no biggie) I showed up only to be treated like i was bothering him. He took a stencil, jotted down some ideas.. he really didnt want to talk to me at all. I expected to tell him my ideas and him come back with more.....NOT the case. He said hed be in touch. A few weeks went by and I didnt hear from him so I started calling to see if any progress had been made. Kurt Cobain at the front desk mustve had better things to do then to give memos. I called 5 times over the course of 2 weeks.. here is a brief list of some of the excuses given to me: "Uuh........................hes tattooing..............." (i asked if i could leave a message and he literally said no) A few times the brian wasnt there (or at least thats what i was told) and the last time I called he said ... and I quote "Hes a busy guy.................................." (I also asked if it would be ok to stop by sometime and was advised against that because "Brian is a busy guy") I was ready and willing to drop 2-3k (it was discussed during consult) on a sleeve... and i was blown off like I was nobody. If he didnt want to do it he couldve just said that instead of wasting my time.

I had a tattoo done a few years ago in Louisiana and it was the worst. I didn’t take time to pick out the artist and the design. LESSON LEARNED! I needed it covered up so this time I took my time and put so thought into the tattoo and the artist I would let do it. I checked out about 8 shops around town (Devine Street Tattoos was the 6th). Eric Michalovic’s work was really the only work that impressed me. I didn’t really have a tattoo picked out but I had some concepts. Eric took my concepts and came up with a drawing for me. I reviewed the drawing the day of my appointment and wanted a few changes. Eric was easy to work with and didn’t mind spending the time making the changes I wanted. Once the drawing was complete I was happy with the concept but it still didn’t really look like much. But based off Eric’s portfolio and the work I saw him do on my buddy I put my faith in him and let him do it. It turned out Awesome and I couldn’t be happier. In my opinion Eric is the most talented artist in town.

Lets be honest you can go anywhere for a tattoo , but if you want the best you go to devine street. They are friendly, informative, professional and maintain a clean work place. Aside from all that they are just flat out talented at their craft. In particular Josh whom I received my amazing work of art from. He took the time to pay attention to detail to give me the most badass yatt possible. It is great to find an artist who listens to your idea and can put a spin on it to make what would have been a very generic and oridinary piece into something completed unique that you can be proud to have on your body. They offer a what I would consider to be modest prices for such brilliant pieces of art and totally defy the ordinary tattoo shop. It is difficult to find an shop and an artist that you feel fully understandes what you want out of a piece but if it is this ultimate comprehension that you seek, you should look no further than devine street tattoo and my boy Josh.

This review is for just 1 artist, Brian. Sorry dude but you treated me horribly. Jonathan is an amazing artist and has done a lot of artwork. However he wasnt comfortable doing a piece that I wanted(honesty appreciated )so he sent me to a coworker Brian. His artwork was amazing by the way but he led me on for about 7 months in total. Call after call. He didnt agree with the fact I didnt want an entire sleeve and told me it was stupid. Had an appointment with him and he decided to go out of town. And its about an hour drive for me to get there. 2 hours round trip.not to mention, this was a tattoo I was getting for my mother who passed 15 years ago and had spent that amount of time figuring out the tattoo I was going to get in her memory. Even then, I was still going to allow him to do it bc his work was amazing. Finally, I decided to move on. Horrible customer service on his part. Other than the the other artists and the guys who answer the phone are amazing.

I have a full sleeve that would be ok looking if I had never gone to see Eric. But after going to Devine Street, it looks like crap compared to the other one i got from Eric! I have always wanted a phoenix sleeve but never could find what I wanted. After an early day at work I decided to stop in and just check out the shop. Are you kidding me? A tattoo shop in Columbia that has true artists! What a surprise! I Talked to Eric about what I would like to have and in stead of saying "lets see if we can find you something on the internet, he took sketch paper and traced my arm and said he would see me in two weeks! When I returned, I had a custom tattoo that was mine! no internet pic, not 20 other people with my tat, just true art. I am now about 1/2 way through my sleeve and I will NEVER have a tattoo done anywhere else. Eric and Johnathan have a true tat shop that no one else in Columbia can touch. Keep up the great works guys!
