I met Evan when myspace was still the go to social network. The shop girl at the MD shop he used to work at added me under his name and the emailing started soon there after. I sent him random ideas of what I wanted without restricting him from working his magic and the day of the consult I was blow away with the sleeve he had plotted out for me. Evan doesn’t just throw together random things to fill your arm up for a quick sleeve. Evan makes every part of the sleeve flow and tell a story the way it should be. Evan took my very open ended idea and turned it into a beautiful sleeve. When we set down for the first sitting Evan hand drew the whole sleeve on my arm in full detail with sharpies. Evan works like no other artist I’ve seen his attention to detail is honestly what sold me for life. I spent at least a year in a half on my ship wreck sleeve we worked in 7-8 hour sessions about every 3-4 weeks. By the end of the sleeve we basically went over the sleeve twice to make sure the color stayed as bright and detailed as the day it was first done. Its been about two years and the tattoo looks the same as they day it was done. Shortly after the shipwreck sleeve we moved to Johnny Cash done on my leg, tattoo turned out beautiful. We are currently working on my other sleeve which is 80%. I wanted traditional style art work but brought up to a realistic standard. Every where I go I get stopped and asked about my tattoos and people are blown away at every aspect of the tattoos. Evan is not only my go to tattoo artist he has become a very close friend. I’ve got work done by some artist where the work was done and the relationship ended there. With Evan he makes you feel comfortable and happy with what you are getting into. I trust very few artist when it comes to the work I get done, with Evan I have no fear of regret. When friends, family or anyone ask me who to go to for work Evan is the only person I give 100% trust in to do good work. I now fly from DC just to get work done by Evan. Evan and Kara; his wife and the girl that run the front desk at the shop, are two of the most down to earth people I’ve met. I look forward to the expansion of Evan as an artist in a new location and I am honored to have two full sleeves and a few other tattoos done by Evan. It’s just a matter of time until Evan Olin becomes the most well known tattoo artist in the US and world. -Damon Doc Farkas

Ive had several bad experiences with other local tattoo shops and by bad experiences I mean bad tattoos. After these experiences I just about lost all hope in Rhode Islands tattoo shops/artists. Powerline Tattoo opened up conveniently 5 minutes away from my house, desperately looking for a place that could fix the mistakes the other tattoo shops did to me I approached Powerline Tattoo skeptical. Upon walking in you will notice a wall and store front filled with trophies/plaques, other shops may have the same display of grandier, but Powerline Tattoo has A LOT more, you will also notice the trophies do not belong to just one individual, every tattoo artist from Powerline has played an important factor in the building of this shrine of trophies. I was immediately greeted by a lady from the front desk, whom I found out eventually, exclusively takes care of the front end, unlike most tattoo shops who have their artists moonlight as part- time admin. One of the important things about finding the right tattoo shop for you is being able to check out the stores portfolios...without interruption...other tattoo shops are quick to find a customer, so they will likely be there with you as you thumb through their portfolios. Powerline Tattoo let me do my thing; they gave me time to sift through their photos without obnoxiously asking me right away, "So what kind of tattoo are you looking to get done today?" I knew right away who I wanted to get my tattoos done by from that point on After checking out the portfolios I left the store to ponder my next move. It wasnt until a week later, after some thought, that I decided to go through with fixing my tattoos. The experience of getting a tattoo done at Powerline is not like any other tattoo shop I have ever been to. They make it ultra-comfortable for their customers, you have a choice of either listening to music or watching a movie...versus the typical "lets stare at the same wall for 6 hours" routine you go through with most other shops. Powerline Tattoo is a gem, you will not be able to find as many talented artists and superb customer care at any other location within the New England area, let alone Rhode Island.

I did tons of research on the shop and artists. Anywhere and everywhere there was something available I looked at it. Reviews, awards, various competitions , publications , competing shops / artists, consumer sites (BBB) and yes health department too. This shop and their artists have an impeccable reputation. So I drop in and talk with Krystal, gave her some of my ideas, she recommends a few of their artists and I fliped through the portfolios and select Jay Blackburn as his style matches what Im looking for most. I have basic ideas but nothing firm. I schedule an appointment with Jay. During the appointment Im pretty firm on the first tattoo but still unsure of a viable option for the second. No pressure at all, Jay gives me some starting points and his contact info. Over the next several days we exchange ideas via email until Im comfortable with what I want for both tattoos . We set the appointment. On the day of the appointment I meet with Jay who has a few designs drawn out that are my ideas but 10 times better. Needless to say, both tattoos came out far better then I had envisioned when I started out and Jay is an outstanding artist and lives up to his reputation including the "word on the street". The shop as a whole is a great place, clean modern equipment with great people who appear to all get along. Not sure when but this will be where my next tattoo is done. Thank you Jay for bringing my ideas to life

I met Evan Olin about 2 years ago in Glen Burnie, Maryland. After seeing some of his work online, I knew hed be the man to see about getting the tattoos that would last a lifetime. Ive been inked since I was 18 but I NEVER trusted anyone enough to do work on my exposed arms. I have huge pieces but youd never know if I had a shirt on. After Evan did an EPIC Nosferatu on my thigh for the Baltimore Tattoo Convention, I had all the trust in the world for him to start my "Gods of Metal" sleeve. Im the happy owner of the Dimebag Darrell portrait that has won 2 out 2 contests entered @ National Tattoo Conventions. Im happy to say that Evan started out as my artist but quickly became one my best friends. Im very happy to see his dreams come true with running his own shop and if anyone deserves it, EVAN OLIN DOES!!! Ive made 2 trips from Virginia already and Im going on my 3rd here in early Feb. Evan Olin is by far one of the greatest Tattoo artists, not just on the east coast, but internationally. Evans passion for art and his devotion to satisfy all of his clients makes him a genuine artist, no scams or attitudes from this guy at all! Im stoked for Evan and if youd like to chat about him or see some tattoos he did for me, hit me up on Facebook and Ill be glad to erase any doubt you may have of him or his shop. Cheers, Zakk
