I live in Arizona and after shopping around for several months, I noticed that Smith Used Cars in Pennsylvania had a Dodge Durango with everything I was looking for posted on AutoTrader. I visited their website and was able to download an AutoCheck report and look over the vehicles history. I had never purchased a car out-of-state before, but everything looked good, so I reached out to them via email. Matt Grabill responded and worked with me on the price and payment options and, knowing that it wouldnt be possible for me to come out and inspect it in person, agreed to walk me through the car on FaceTime. Once on FaceTime, I could tell right away that Matt was a genuinely friendly and pleasant person to be around. He spent time going over every inch of the vehicle and answering all of my questions. I knew at that moment that this was the Durango I had been looking for and that I wanted to do business with this dealership. Afterward, I asked Matt to send me an invoice, which he did, and we completed the purchase. I worked with John Barone to finalize the paperwork. In the meantime, I was looking into auto transport companies to ship my vehicle out here. Once I made arrangements (through the broker All American Trucking & Transport in Sacramento, CA who contracted it out to Paper Impex USA, Inc), I notified Matt and John and they took care of getting it prepared, inspecting the vehicle with the driver and making sure it was loaded safely. They kept me informed every step of the way. It was loaded up at the dealership on a Tuesday morning and arrived here, in Arizona, five days later on Sunday morning exactly as described (plus a little dust from the trip). We got the dust washed off and it really sparkled. We love it! This has been, hands down, the best vehicle purchase experience I have had! To anyone shopping for a used car, no matter where you are in the country, I highly recommend Smith Used Cars in West Chester, PA. You wont find a friendlier group of people anywhere!

I bought a used car at John L. Smith this summer, finding a Subaru Forrester waiting for me in excellent condition. It was and is a perfect car for me, and after some brief negotiation, I bought it right away. Matt, John and their financing guy made it very easy for me, finding me the lowest possible interest rate on my car loan, and I drove away same day with my car. First experience, great, and happy. 2nd- John Barrone, who runs the place, is also an insurance agent, and offered me a competitive reason to go with his auto and home insurance as well, which I did. Kudos to Amy who patiently dealt with all of the curves I threw at her, and kept dealing with every detail and change with good humor. Boy, am I glad I also switched insurance companies! I hit a dear with my Subaru two weeks ago, and since it was still driveable, I drove after hours to the John L. Smith car lot. The next day, I called John and he said he would take care of everything. He got me a rental car right away, negotiated with the insurance company for me, found a body collision repair company to do the work, and yesterday, I got my newly repaired car back. Kudos to John L. Smith and John Barrone for giving me excellent customer service! One last incident-I lost my car keys one day and informed John Barrone late on a Friday in December. John went to a Subaru dealer and had a key made for me the same day. I have to say that the way a small business survives in this world with competition everywhere, is to give excellent customer service. That is my experience with John L. Smith, and that is why he will be my car dealer from now on.

I am a 3 time customer at John L Smith because they are so superior to any dealership I have ever worked with. When John L Smith, Inc. sells a car, their service doesnt stop there -- it is just beginning! They offer 4 oil changes the first year, lifetime inspections, and a 3 month warranty. They care about their customers, as evidenced in kindness, fairness, and solid ethics that have left me feeling a secure trust in them to do what is right...without a fight. They offer financing when other dealerships wont, and they are fair. I enjoyed picking out my car, especially since I could look at them and take my time checking reviews online after studying their selection on their website. When I received my car, it was freshly washed and cleaned inside, smelled fresh, and had gas in it. They are fair, once again, on fulfilling their warranty, and the staff are all friendly and kind. I could go on and on about how wonderfully they have treated me, and I highly recommend John L Smith with absolute confidence and happiness! Thank you!

The staff here is very friendly and helpful, especially Jeff! I had been working through the cumbersome tasks associated with an accident and the guys at John Smith took over towing/storage for me, called the other drivers insurance to get things wrapped up and faxed/emailed paperwork for me. They even volunteered to send my old car title via fedex express to the insurance company and also let me drive my Mazda3 off the lot prior to me receiving my insurance check! Jeff also managed to get me an awesome deal with the 3 yr warranty at the payments I preferred. Now thats what I call service! Looking forward to my next purchase with this company when its time to trade in my Mazda. Love the new car. It has a few scratches and a small tear in the front seat, but it runs great and still looks great! It IS a used car so its to be expected... :) Nice to have cold AC, keyless entry and some actual horsepower lol. Didnt have all that with my 94 Honda Accord, but I wont forget my 1st car!

A few months back I was shopping for a car. Found a Sonata I really loved from another dealer. All prepared to buy, about to head to the dealer but I decided to see if there was a better deal anywhere. Then I found a vehicle a year newer, with less miles, for a grand less at John Smith and I was shook. Since then, every little problem Ive had along the way, the service at John Smith has handled it fast, and with no BS. Straight forward pricing and laymens terms with the auto jargon. Last week I totaled that same car. Hit a deer. I kid you not I called the guys at John Smith the next day because I only wanted to work with them again. A week later and Im back in another car, simple as that. They feel like family, in just a few simple interactions. I can ask any question without the fear of scrutiny (unless I really deserve it), and I always leave with peace of mind. Never going anywhere else.

Yesterday my mother went in for a service- they recommended a ball joint. When in fact the vehicle needed a tie rod...which later that night the tie rod off of the steering box separated. If this had happened when my mom or 17 year old younger brother had been driving the vehicle, even at normal speed or even worse highway speed, it could have been deadly. Anyone in the field with half of a brain knows how dangerous a bad tie rod is. I manage a BMW repair shop and would never let someone leave my shop without stressing how unsafe it is driving with a bad tie rod- we even make the customer sign a waver if they refuse the repair. These guys could not even diagnose the tie rod correctly and let my mom leave with no knowledge of what her car needed. I am honestly disgusted they would let this happen- we have been taking our family cars here for basic maintenance for years. No longer.
