Beginner Beware of Bad Experience. They say the quality of a company is determined by the way they react to a problem. Im a beginner and just getting into the sport. I spent $1,000 at Bike Line two weeks ago on a new bike. I love my new Trek 1.2...however 6.5 miles into my first ride at the park....two lock washers and nuts fall off of my brand new 2014 bike. My foot slips off the pedal because of it...but I recover without incident. Clearly this part of the bike was not assembled properly at the store. I call Bike Line, tell them about the problem, and they confirm I can pick up the washers/nuts at one of their stores "we will take care of you". I wish that employee was right, but after stopping by the West Chester store I certainly did not feel "taken care of". I drove over to the West Chester store and spoke to a heavy set man with a goatee who was working in the back. He did not offer his name or I would share it with you. I tell him my story, and he offers no apology or acknowledgment of the problem what so ever. I could immediately tell he did not want to talk to me. I dont get it, I was calm and reasonable...but for some reason he was unhelpful and somewhat defensive. He tries to turn me away twice, I persist and tell him I was told to stop by to pick up the washers/nuts. He then tells me "it will take me at least 15 minutes to find the washers/nuts in the back"...as if testing to see if this would deter my persistence and I would finally leave. I said "thats ok, I can wait". I then watched him walk to the back. He moved around a bin...then walks out and assists another customer. Finally he walks over to my bike model on the showroom floor. Half way into pulling it out he gives up...then walking past me he tells me that he does not have the washers/nuts in the store. I couldnt tell if he was intentionally trying to insult my intelligence or if he really thought that I was that dumb...he was clearly just blowing me off. I went home, brought the bolt to the hardware store by my house, and found washers/nuts. 20 cents is all it cost to fix my bike. I really dont get it. Personally this would not happen to customers in my line of work, and if it did I would be taken to task by my employer. I like my bike and dont want to return it...but was tempted to do so based on the principal. In the future I will not be going to Bike Line. Instead I will find a store that cares about their customer. I realize $1,000 is a low-end bike for Bike Line, but I dont think that entitles me to a lower standard of customer service. I still need to equip my bike with safety equipment and I need additional gear. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I strongly recommend doing so as well. Especially if you are a beginner.

I was in the market for a new 3-bike trunk bike rack, and after compiling a list of a few compatible models, I visited this store. I was greeted by an associate Greg, who quickly impressed me as being very knowledgeable about such a product. We zeroed in on two racks--the Saris Bones 3 and the Thule Passage 911XT 3 Bike--which are both excellent, high value racks. I decided to go with the Saris Bones 3, but before completing the purchase Greg on his own went on Saris web site, and discovered the following manufacturers vehicle fit note related to my sedan: "2 BIKE / 70 LB LOAD LIMIT. Bikes must be located in positions closest to vehicle." Of course this meant I could not use this rack to carry three bikes without risking significant damage to the car. I was extremely grateful Greg determined this, as I was planning to use the rack the following day. Accordingly, I purchased the Thule Passage 911XT 3 Bike rack, along with three stabilizer bars to carry my wifes and two daughters bikes. Greg then reviewed with me some important elements regarding proper installation. The rack was easy to install and load, and performed flawlessly during two legs of highway driving. As seen above, I had a very positive experience at this store, due to extremely competent associates like Greg and I am sure others. This store should strongly be considered to satisfy all of ones biking needs.

Make sure to take ALL of your bike gear from the bike. Thats right down to the rear view I had attached to my drops and always have had one there during my entire adult cycling life. "It wasnt there." I was told. I pointed to the fact that the tube had no end cap like the other drip as that is where the mirror mount was plugged in. I was scoffed at by some ignorant workers who were cross calling through the window there as I was trying to get the manager to look me in the eye. Their scoffing provided him with backbone, I guess, as he would not even consider the possibility that he and his "team" would loose/take such a thing. "Mister we keep track of that stuff when people drop off. You didnt have anything there, face the facts" WHAT!!!??? Lol, the disrespect and unprofessional manner was so ridiculous I started to feel like I was in a Seinfeld plot with me as George. Go elsewhere. Even supposing I was completely wrong the look down their nose banter to me and about me to each other would be enough to give the advice to avoid this shop.

Used to like the place. I took my bike in for a check up and was told - $60 later that everything was OK.Three weeks later, on a Team In Training ride, my chain, which had been stretched came off on a hill and I fell over. I actually took the bike back to Bike Line and they said a sprocket was bent and had to be replaced and that I should actually replace the middle sprocket, as well. Even though I explained my need for the bike, sooner, rather than later, they said it would take at least 2 weeks and that "all the bike shops in the area were busy and that I would probably not be able to get it fixed in sooner. I found another shop. A great shop who bent the one sprocket back, changed the stretched chain and got the bike back to me in 5 days. I used to go to Bike Line all the time.I will never return.

Disappointed at best. I needed a crown, lower, and upper race pressed into a headset on Sunday in a timely fashion. At most 5 minutes of labor, but mid explanation I was de-prioritized as a customer that clearly came in after me was was shuffled ahead on a tire tube sale and service. A quick search showed the other bike shops in the area were closed. On a whim, I drive through town and to my relief Hybrid Cycles was OPEN. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. Ill take a shop that respects and listens to customers over franchise shops that prioritizes tire change quotas and bike sales any day.

Walked in there today with the intent to buy two bikes and a car rack. Was never greeted or even acknowledged. There seemed to only be two people working and one was focused on helping a woman while the other was on the phone. I was even asked to move out of the way so a sales man could get a rack and still no "be with you in a minute" or anything. After reading other reviews, this doesnt seem surprising. They mightve assumed that I wasnt going to purchase anything, but now theyre missing out on at least over $1,000 in a sale. Let this be a lesson in good customer service.
