Really unprofessional staff. First my husband called them, we were led to believe that the eye examination for contacts lenses without insurance was $80. Once when we got there, had my eyes checked, it turned out its gonna be almost $140! When we told the doctor the information we received from the front desk, he basically said no, thats not possible. He asked the staff and no one remembered (or would admit) they have made this mistake. Ok, fine. At least I got my prescription and the doctor did give me a week trial contacts to try out to see if I like it. I needed one regular lens, and one to correct an astigmatism. The brand the doctor prescribed me to was Acuvue Oasys. Its pricier than the Equate brand. With my current financial status I would ultimately prefer the Equate brand because it is cheaper but also has decent reviews. My husband called again and requested a new prescription for the Equate brand and the staff ensured him that it should not be a problem or cause any extra charge, all she has to do is have the doctor sign off on it. I had my father in law pick up the prescription on his way home the day after. When he got home, I received THE EXACT SAME PRESCRIPTION that I got from my initial check up. We called back, the first person explained that the doctor said he cant write me a prescription for the Equate brand because he thinks its not good for my eyes. And then she got the store manager on the phone. The store manager stated the doctor wont write me a script for the Equate brand because they dont sell that brand there and the doctor is not familiar with it too. The fact that Monroe Optical doesnt sell Equate would not have been an issue for me because I intended to purchase the actual lenses at a different store. However, I do understand him not wanting to write a prescription for a product he is apparently not "familar" with. What really pisses me off was how inconsistent they are. If the doctor cant write me the new scrip, they can call me back! Its totally wasting our time. The manager did NOT apologize at all, instead, she was really aggressive, like her poor management on her employees has nothing to do with her. I will never ever go back again! Avoid at all costs.

The only reason why theyre receiving one star right now is because you HAVE to at least rate one star to register ...I have been beyond dissatisfied with this establishment When I went in to actually maaake the purchase on my 600$+ pair of glasses of course everything was hunky doorey but when I went back in the very next day because the prescription is faaar off of what my actual prescription is they tried to tell ME that I was wrong & to wear the glasses anyways ...I tried that but Im going back today & I will NOT be turned away w/o a solution ...I cannot wear the glasses they gave to me as of now! To look through them looks like Im using to hyper-magnified lenses on 2 diff bubbly levels, I explained that to the receptionist & she told me quote that Im just not used to glasses because I wear contacts lenses &! That they deliberately made the presciption on my glasses stronger than my ACTUAL prescription, because the lenses sit off my face What the heck kinda cockamany stuff is that! Aaaaaanywhere else Ive gone they made the products in the right presciptions for me & Ive neeever paid near as much for ONE pair of eye glasses Used to go to a really nice optometrist but he retired a yr or so ago Where do I go now?! I literally cant even USE these glasses they gave me & I am beginning to feel seveerely duped! & TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!

This are cheap car salesmen and women! Even the doctors are nasty, unhelpful and tricksters. Once you buy what THEY want you to buy, the friendliness stops. I was told that I could not use my old frames because my bifocals would not fit and I had to buy a new frame with bigger lenses. So I trusted them and bought the new eyeglasses. I could not understand because my old frames seemed like they were the same size as my new ones, but I thought I was mistaken. I went to another eye doctor on Main Street and not only could I use my old frames for my bifocals but at ANY time I feel I dont like having two prescriptions on my eyeglasses, I can bring them back and they will change it for one prescription FREE. At Monroe Optical I was given a limited time to change my mind! They are there just to sell you a NEW pair or two of eyeglasses and they will say anything to convince you to open your wallet wide. Go somewhere else. If you go to Monroe Optical, youll feel like pray and you will be pray :o(

If I could rate this business with zero stars I would. I took my 6 year old there. She was excited about meeting the doctor. His way of working with children was not friendly or inviting. At one point he said she wass giving him all the wrong answers. She cried when she got in the car because she felt like she failed the test. Nice job Doc! Definately not a place to bring children. He was more worried about how much I was going to pay him rather than explaining to me what was going on. Awful experience!!! I am happy that I decided against buying glasses there after the salesperson and Hailey were rude. There attitude, remarks and cunning ways brought me to tears. I am sorry I ever walked in there. I ended up buying the SAME pair of glasses at Lenscrafters for less than half of what that ripoff place wanted. Dont step foot in there! They are only friendly when they think you are going to spend money. Awful awful awful!!!

I dont believe the people who wrote the poor reviews went to the same Monroe optical that I did. The Doctor was very helpful and looked into my personal concerns in detail. The sales people are very kind and have always greeted us warmly and have taken good care of me whether I came in for a new pair of glasses or when I came in because I lost a screw cover. Their selection is excellent and they carry the best brands. I actually went to Monroe optical in an attempt to find the sunglasses worn in a James Bond film... They had them! Im not sure what the expectations were of those who wrote some of these reviews.. but if youre looking for a place where they greet you warmly, remember your name, your wife and your daughters... as well as give great customer service... This is the place.

My daughter recently had an eye exam and got glasses at Monroe Optical. The doctor was nice, and the wait was brief. He explained what is wrong with her eyes and why she was having headaches. The salesperson was friendly and helpful and the glasses were reasonably priced. While we were there, I saw another salesperson help a customer who came in with broken glasses (arm was broken off); they were fixed on the spot, no charge. The only reason Im not giving them 5 stars is because Ive only been to this place once. If the service is always this good, its a 5-star rating definitely.
